Chapter 97
Jessica’s face twisted with pure venom as she stepped closer, her voice dropping to a harsh whisper. And you know what else Mr. Smith told me? You’re nothing but a whore. A cheap, opportunistic whore who spread her legs to snatch my fiancé from me. That’s all you are-nothing more. You have no real place in the Langstone family. You’re just an empty barrel making noise.”
Travis chuckled beside her, nodding in agreement. “Exactly. Empty barrel. All show, no substance.”
Natalie’s shoulders trembled slightly. She sniffled, eyes glistening with what looked like barely held-back tears. For a moment, she stared at the floor, biting her lip hard as if struggling to keep her composure.
She then said, “Okay then, you shall regret this”.
With that, she turned on her heels and walked away without another word, her posture defeated.
Jessica and Travis watched her go, exchanging satisfied smirks.
“She’s just bluffing,” Travis said with a laugh. “What can she possibly do? She’s finished.”
“Yeah,” Jessica replied, clutching the folder tighter, her eyes sparkling with triumph. “Let her run. She finally knows her place.”
Meanwhile, as Natalie stepped out of the luxurious venue into the cool evening air, she straightened her back, the fake tears and trembling shoulders vanishing instantly. One of the plainclothes guards waiting near the entrance approached her quickly.
“Ma’am, where’s the scammer? We have eyes on the VVIP room. We can move in right now and end this.”
Natalie’s expression was cold, her jaw tight.
“We will leave him for now,” she said flatly.
The guard blinked in surprise. “But ma’am… we’ve spent many days tracking Mr. Smith. This is the perfect moment-”
“I said we are leaving him,” Natalie cut him off, her voice sharp. Jessica just stepped on her nerve. she would Let her walk blindly into his trap. Let her lose everything she thinks she’s about to gain.
The guard hesitated for a second, then nodded respectfully. “Understood.”
Natalie glanced back once at the restaurant entrance, her lips curving into a faint, icy smile.
“Let’s go.”
As they walked away, the guards exchanged uneasy looks.

The next morning, sunlight filtered through the heavy silk curtains of their upscale apartment. Jessica stirred in bed, reaching for her phone as it buzzed for incoming message. it was an Email.

Dear Ms. Jessica Langstone,
We regret to inform you that after careful review by the senior board, you have not been selected for the lead role in the upcoming premium branding project. The position has been awarded to Ms. Julia Harrington…
Jessica’s scream pierced through the house.
“WHAT THE FUCK?!”
She bolted upright, rereading the email twice, her face turning a deep shade of red. Mr. Smith had assured her, promised her-just yesterday that the project was as good as hers.
If this happened, it could only mean one thing: Mr. Smith didn’t have the authority he claimed. Or worse,
he had played her.
Furious, she stormed out of the bedroom in her silk robe, hair disheveled.
“Travis! Travis! TRAVIS!”
Meanwhile, in Mrs. Morgan room down the hall, Travis was in the middle of a frantic, sweaty quickie with
Mrs. Morgan.
He had her bent over the edge of the bed, gripping her hips as he thrust hard from behind. The sound of skin slapping untill it was disrupt by Jessica’s screams.
“Travis, Travis!”.
Mrs. Morgan suddenly gasped, her voice urgent and hushed. “Out! Out now! She can’t find you here!”
Travis groaned in frustration but pulled out quickly, heart pounding. He yanked up his pants, zipping them as Mrs. Morgan shoved his shirt into his arms.
“Go! Hurry!”
He slipped out the side door just as Jessica’s screams grew louder. By the time he rounded the corner into the living room, he was still catching his breath, sweat glistening on his forehead and neck.
Jessica stopped mid-rant when she saw him. Her eyes narrowed. “Why are you sweating so hard? You look like you just ran a marathon.”
Travis forced a weak smile, wiping his brow with the back of his hand. He leaned against the wall,
