Chapter 122 Just in Case
It was light and easy on the stomach.
Sean stepped aside, clearing a path. “Come in and eat with me.”
“Huh?” Tracy looked at Sean in surprise.

When she realized what he’d said, she quickly shook her head. “No, it’s fine. I only packed one serving. Mine is still in the pot.”
Sean accepted the container but didn’t insist. Instead, he handed Tracy a set of keys. “These are for my apartment.”
Tracy was even more surprised. She didn’t take them. “Wait, why are you giving me your keys?”
She didn’t visit his place often. Yesterday was an accident. And it wasn’t like he was sick all the time. Giving her his keys just seemed like a hassle for her to look after.
Sean pressed them into her palm. “I’m not used to carrying keys. I’m afraid I’ll forget them and get locked out. It’s better to leave a spare with you, just as a backup.”
Without thinking, Tracy blurted out, “But what if I forget my keys one day? Won’t we both be homeless?”
The moment she said it, she regretted it. Something felt off, but she couldn’t quite place what. Her memory wasn’t great either. For the past few years at the Gaunt estate, she never had to carry keys because Jennie, the live–in housekeeper, was always there. She was genuinely worried they’d both forget their keys and be locked out.
Sean didn’t answer. He pulled out a rolling suitcase and picked up a briefcase.
Seeing him with the luggage, Tracy asked, “Are you going on a business trip, too?”
“Mm.” Sean replied.
She ventured another question. “To Sea City?”
The annual tech exhibition was in Sea City. As Northport’s ‘golden boy,‘ he would certainly have been invited. That seemed normal.
But, wasn’t it a bit early to leave? The earliest flight from Northport to Sea City was at 10 AM. Why head to the airport now?
Sean’s gaze was dark, but he explained with rare patience, “No, I’m going abroad for a week. Something urgent came up.”
Oh, not Sea City.
Should she get him something? At the thought, Tracy turned and dashed back to her apartment. “Wait second!”
She returned quickly with a box of cookies and a bag with several boxes of medicine. She held them out to

Sean.
Tracy pointed to the bag and instructed, “Here’s a box of cookies I made, and some cold and anti- inflammatory medicine. You should take them. Your fever is gone, but this is just in case. Better to be prepared, right?”
As she said it, Tracy belatedly realized she was using the exact same lines she used to use on Chandler. At first, he thought she was being thoughtful. Later, he just found her annoying, like a mother hen. The nagging had become an unconscious habit.
She wondered if Sean would find it annoying. She glanced up at him. He was looking at her, but there was no impatience in his eyes.
She relaxed. At least he didn’t seem to mind her fussing.
Sean looked at her, his eyes deep. “Okay, I’ll remember. If you’re afraid I’ll forget, you can send me a WhatsApp message to remind me.”
Tracy ducked her head. What did he mean, ‘afraid he’ll forget‘? He’s the one who’s sick and forgetful, yet he wanted her to remind me. What kind of logic was that?
Sean checked his watch. Time was tight. He locked his door.
“I have to catch my flight. I’m leaving now.”
