Cassidy crashed into a man.

Her escape posture had been a little too wild; swinging her arm back, she delivered a brutal elbow strike to the man's chest.

"Ugh, pfft—"

The man clutched his chest, stumbling back a couple of exaggerated steps.

Cassidy: "..."

She recognized him immediately. "Mr. King. I'm so sorry."

Silas King was one of Maloney's oldest friends and his early business partner, now running his own independent tech firm.

He coughed twice, his voice raspy. "Nice moves, Director Quinn."

Just then, the restroom door burst open with a loud bang. Seraphina strode out, rolling her eyes as she glanced at Cassidy and Silas standing near the doorway, and walked straight past them.

A second later, the other three women charged out.

"Stop right there!" the leading woman roared in the direction Seraphina fled. "You bitch! I said stop!"

The other two women clung to each other. Seeing Seraphina about to vanish from sight, the three of them joined hands and bolted forward.

They took up way too much space.

The woman on the far edge stomped right onto Silas's shoe.

"Ugh, ouch—"

Silas wailed, grabbing his knee.

The three women, intent on their target, didn't even look back as they dashed away.

Cassidy: "..."

"Are you alright, Mr. King?"

"Fine, I'm fine." Silas's voice grew even hoarser. "I have matters to attend to, Director Quinn. Let's catch up another time."

Cassidy: "...Take care, Mr. King."

Silas hobbled off toward the VIP lounge.

Once everyone was gone, Cassidy finally remembered she hadn't updated Nora.

By the time Nora received Cassidy's text saying, "Go back to work, it was my misunderstanding," she was already driving away from the studio.

To say she was completely unbothered would be a slight exaggeration.

After all, when Seraphina first returned from abroad, she had confronted Nora and spouted some vicious threats—claiming Maloney belonged to her, that he still loved her, and demanding Nora step aside.
