The Divorce That Brought Us Back novel Chapter 110

When Sebastian walked out of Maloney's office, he looked grim.

The conversation had actually gone remarkably smoothly.

Maloney hadn't even reprimanded him for Seraphina's arrogant stunt at the gala last night.

He had zero intention of retaliating.

Sebastian's face darkened, his expression unreadable.

Upon returning to the Sinclair Group headquarters, he bumped into Seraphina, who was also just arriving.

She shot him a look. "Did you go see Maloney?"

Sebastian frowned. "You crossed the line this time, Seraphina."

She shrugged, stretching out her left hand to admire her fresh manicure, and replied casually, "Dad already said the ventures we have with the Jamesons aren't exactly gold mines. Maloney only maintains those contracts out of respect for our grandfather's generation."

"Those deals barely break even. We can live without them."

"I just brought us two massive projects... Oh, wait, three. I just signed a new one this afternoon, negotiated it last night. The paperwork is with finance, so make sure you sign off on it quickly when it hits your desk."

She dropped her hand and looked right at him. "Anyway, Maloney told me to stay out of his sight for the rest of my life, which is impossible. His social circle is my social circle. If he insists on terminating our contracts, so be it."

Sebastian scolded, "The Jameson contracts might only break even, but they're the most stable assets we have. You just joined the executive board. You don't understand the full picture, so stop acting like a spoiled brat."

"I just joined the board, but Dad signed off on it." Her parents' blind favoritism and absolute trust were her ultimate weapons. She scoffed, "They told me to go all out and leave the fallout for you to clean up."

Sebastian rubbed his temples, fighting a migraine. "They told you to go all out, not to maliciously hijack other people's livelihoods."

His voice rose. "Do you have any idea that the Thorne family stormed my office first thing this morning?!"

"How is it hijacking? They hadn't even signed a contract yet. It's called fair competition!" She glared at him in disgust. "They throw a tantrum in your office, and you don't just have security throw them out? Do you not take a cut of the profits from the projects I bring in? Siding with outsiders to lecture your own sister. You're pathetic!"

Seraphina felt absolutely zero remorse.

At a recent cocktail party, Mr. Watson had been the one practically throwing himself at her, whining about how his wife's family were a bunch of leeches. He complained they constantly demanded contracts, ruined the execution, whined to him about the financial losses, and then expected better projects the next time.

She had merely stroked his ego, asking how such a brilliant man ended up with such a brainless wife. She added that if her future husband ever gave her a project, she would ensure he made an absolute fortune.

Just because of those few words, Mr. Watson had insisted on giving the project to her.
