The Divorce That Brought Us Back novel Chapter 131

Parker Quincy didn't get to see Bridget Quincy.

He had been completely shut out by his own mother.

He went back to find Cassidy Quinn, only to discover she was no longer in her office.

Aidan Young was nowhere to be found either, and the few colleagues he asked in the sales department were completely clueless.

Parker was intensely frustrated.

There was no way he was going to accept a suspension; he needed to keep a close eye on Cassidy.

The next day, Parker showed up at the firm again. The receptionist greeted him respectfully, showing absolutely no intention of stopping him.

See?

So much for 'don't bother coming in tomorrow.'

This was his family's firm. He could come and go as he pleased, and no one dared to stop him.

Parker straightened his spine, his eyes brimming with confidence. His strides were relaxed, radiating a deep sense of authority.

As he stepped into the elevator lobby, he bumped into Lola, who was also waiting for the doors to open.

"Manager Quincy!" Lola, who had been standing there for over forty minutes, didn't look tired in the slightest. Flashing a sweet smile, she gave a gentle wave and spoke in her usual soft tone. "What a coincidence running into you again."

The corners of Parker's mouth lifted, his mood vastly improving.

"Late for work again?" he teased.

"Not at all." Lola lifted a paper bag she was holding. "I went out to grab coffee for my supervisor."

"Who's your supervisor? How could they make you run errands like this? I'll go have a word with them."

"It's just a small thing, it's really no bother."

"How is this a small thing?"

The elevator arrived, and the two walked in, continuing their chat.

Parker pressed the button for his floor.

The elevator headed straight for the sales department.

She had indeed left early in the morning.

Completely reassured, Parker turned to Lola. "Alright then, come hide out in my office for a while."

Hearing this, Lola eagerly followed right behind him.

Parker couldn't help but smile.

It wasn't that he harbored deep feelings for her.

Lola wasn't stunningly gorgeous, but she had a cute, girl-next-door charm. She spoke with a gentle cadence that made people feel incredibly comfortable around her.

Back when Lola was still an intern at the firm, she ranked at the bottom of her evaluations and was on the verge of being let go. She had been hiding in the stairwell crying when Parker happened to walk by.

He casually offered a few words of comfort, and from then on, Lola displayed nothing but absolute gratitude and adoration toward him.

She always looked at him with such admiration.

It was as if she saw him as the most incredible man in the world.

And Parker loved the feeling of being needed.
