Neither side seemed to have expected to run into the other here.

For a moment, the atmosphere froze.

Mr. Hudson was the quickest to react, offering a polite smile. "Mr. Sinclair, Ms. Sinclair. The meeting room is ready with coffee and pastries. Please follow me. Mr. Jameson will join you shortly after he gets his wife settled."

Sebastian and Seraphina completely ignored him.

They both walked directly toward Nora.

"Nora, what a surprise," Seraphina greeted her smoothly. She was dressed in a razor-sharp navy pantsuit and killer black stilettos, radiating an effortless mix of corporate power and seductive charm.

She offered Nora a warm, dazzling smile, her tone incredibly intimate. "We just said we should get together, and here we are running into each other today. Why wait? Are you free right now? Let's go chat."

Sebastian's brow instantly pulled into a harsh scowl. "Seraphina, don't forget why we're actually here."

"Sebastian, that's what you're here for," Seraphina shot back, rolling her eyes playfully at her brother. "You handle the business with Maloney, and I'll catch up with Nora. It's the perfect setup."

"Unless... you were hoping to be the one chatting with Nora?"

She gasped softly, her eyes widening in mock realization, a wicked little smirk playing on her lips. "I mean, it makes sense. You two were engaged for over a decade, after all."

Seraphina's words hit like a live grenade, blowing up the fragile peace among the other three.

Nora and Sebastian had once been bound by an arranged marriage.

It was a ridiculously long story.

The betrothal hadn't been orchestrated by Nora's parents and the Sinclairs.

Seraphina was stunningly beautiful, charismatic, and incredibly popular. The Sinclair parents had their sights set on marrying her off to someone with astronomical wealth, so they furiously resisted locking her down so young, leading to a massive fight with Grandpa Sinclair.

Nora's uncle was a good, honorable man who hadn't saved a life expecting a payout. He was perfectly willing to just let the whole arrangement go.
