The Divorce That Brought Us Back novel Chapter 201

Meanwhile.

Nora Dodge was on the verge of being infuriated to death by Maloney Jameson.

Originally, she had already convinced herself to let last night's argument go.

After all, Nora and Sebastian Sinclair had been arranged to marry since childhood.

When she was little, people used to tease her by calling her the future Mrs. Sinclair, and they had nearly tied the knot as adults.

Maloney had watched all of this unfold.

It was only natural that it bothered him.

It was exactly how Nora used to feel whenever she saw Maloney standing next to Seraphina Sinclair.

It was incredibly frustrating.

And when people got frustrated, they got irritable and unreasonable.

In a way, his entire tantrum last night only proved how much Maloney cared about her.

So, she decided to let it go.

The next time Sebastian's name came up, Nora planned to choose her words more carefully.

Or better yet, she would find an opportunity to clear the air about Sebastian entirely.

Maloney had already perfectly clarified the misunderstanding regarding Seraphina.

Nora could certainly do the same for his misunderstandings about Sebastian.

He was an insignificant person in her life, anyway.

But as they left the house this morning, right when Maloney drove out of the underground garage, Nora handed a handmade, enclosed cat house to the estate manager waiting outside.

And just like that, Maloney was angry again.

"It's freezing this winter. The stray kittens can't handle it, so a lot of them sneak into the neighborhood for warmth," she had explained.

Strays weren't allowed to roam freely in the high-end residential area, so Mr. Watson usually organized the security guards to catch them, get them neutered, and keep them in the property center's garden.

"Mr. Watson said they've already caught over a dozen kittens this year. He isn't sure if they can all get adopted before spring. I was thinking maybe I should ask Jasmine Smith to post some adoption flyers online."

Maloney scoffed. "You're awfully invested in his little project."

Nora shot him a glance and muttered, "The kittens are pitiful."

"I meant the estate manager."

"What about him?"

"What did you just call him?"

"Mr. Watson. Why?"

Maloney narrowed his eyes. "You said his name with the exact same sweet tone you use for me."

Nora was speechless.

How utterly absurd!

Being jealous of Sebastian was one thing, but getting jealous over the estate manager?!

"I already explained this!" Nora glared at him, her cheeks puffing out in pure exasperation. "When I yelled 'Oh man' last night, I wasn't literally calling you a man! It was just a figure of speech!"

"How can you be so petty! Fine, I'll just call you Mr. Jameson from now on to keep things strictly professional!"

She had just managed to soothe her own temper, and now he was riling her up all over again. Her frustration spiked.
