The Divorce That Brought Us Back novel Chapter 207

Jasmine hesitated for a few seconds before replying: [Actually, I don't think it had anything to do with his mother.]

[Think about it. What would be the motive for starting a rumor that Mr. Jameson only likes accomplished women? I bet it was purely to force Seraphina to study abroad.]

[Her grades weren't spectacular. Going overseas to pad her resume was the quickest way for her to become 'accomplished.']

[So it couldn't have been Nora's mother-in-law. His mother desperately wanted Seraphina to marry him immediately. She would never sabotage things by tricking her into leaving the country.]

[Whoever started the rumor was actively trying to stop Seraphina from marrying Mr. Jameson.]

After that text, the group chat fell dead silent for several seconds.

The situation was sounding increasingly bizarre.

A moment later.

Cassidy: [@Nora, was it you?]

Nora: [.........]

Jasmine: [Honestly, Nora really did end up being the one who benefited the most.]

What absolute nonsense!

Nora kicked her legs again in frustration.

The mattress bounced twice.

His little wife was about to tear the bed apart.

Maloney set his phone aside, slid under the covers, and wrapped a strong arm around Nora's waist.

"What's got you so worked up?"

Nora immediately slapped her phone face-down on the sheets. "Nothing."

He didn't try to pull her out of her cocoon.

Instead, he rested his large hand flat against her stomach, pressing himself flush against her back.

Nora could feel exactly how heavily she was affecting him.

Her muffled voice came from under the covers. "Maloney..."

They were lying on their sides, facing the same direction. Maloney's chin rested on the top of her head through the fabric as his hands moved deftly under the blankets, unfastening the buttons of her sleepwear.

"Can I?" he murmured.

He had already undone all her buttons—what was the point of asking?

Nora wanted to snap at him.

But the words reached her tongue, and she swallowed them down.

She remembered Cassidy saying she was acting out.

They were trying to narrow down the mastermind behind the rumor.

Once they actually started listing names, it turned out an absurd number of girls had been obsessed with him.

But Seraphina had systematically crushed every single rival.

Ms. Sinclair had wealth, status, and an arrogant, dominating personality. She had a legion of followers, and no one dared cross her.

Jasmine: [Is there any chance Nora really is the final boss? Like, she used Seraphina to clear out all the competition, then tricked her into moving abroad, and finally swooped in to marry Mr. Jameson?]

Squinting through the haze to read those lines.

Nora's eyes widened in sheer disbelief.

What kind of wild conspiracy theory was that?!!!

If she actually possessed that kind of ruthless Machiavellian genius, she wouldn't have been left entirely speechless every time Seraphina confronted her!

Nora frantically started typing her defense.

She barely managed two words before Maloney drove into her with a sudden, devastating intensity. Nora gasped, her body arching violently as the phone slipped from her slick palm.

She accidentally hit send.

Nora: [I am]

Cassidy: [???]
