The Divorce That Brought Us Back novel Chapter 259

Nora felt that...

Regarding the specific move they had discussed last time.

The exact term Cassidy Quinn had thrown out.

It had to be absolute nonsense.

It wouldn't be the first time she had spouted nonsense about this kind of thing.

She claimed to have watched countless adult films, throwing out opinions as if they were gospel, yet her real-world experience was severely lacking, relying entirely on her wild imagination.

After all, she was the one who had admitted she once used a stopwatch and timed Parker at exactly eight minutes in bed.

What kind of tricks could a man possibly pull off in eight minutes?!

Once she got her divorce, Nora strongly suggested Cassidy find a man who could last a lot longer.

Just so she could finally get some practical experience.

But getting back to the point.

If that move didn't mean *that*, what else could it possibly mean?

Honestly, when Cassidy had explained it last time, Nora thought it sounded fairly plausible.

But looking at Maloney's reaction now, it clearly wasn't that.

Nora had tried to slide down three times, and Maloney had dragged her back up three times.

On the third attempt, Maloney had even swatted her, warning her to stop squirming around.

"Maloney," Nora whispered.

"What is it?" Maloney's voice was equally low and rough.

"I have a question."

"Ask."

"Why are you always messing with my tongue?"

It had been going on for too long, and Nora was both exhausted and sleepy. She half-closed her eyes, her voice soft and sweet, drawing out every syllable.

"Like this?" Maloney raised his right hand, extending his thumb and index finger to mimic a pinching motion.

Nora turned her head to dodge his hand. "No, I mean, pressing it with your thumb."

Maloney guided her head back and demonstrated again with his thumb and index finger. "Like this?"

Nora let out a soft "Mhm."

She dodged his hand once more and asked, "Is there some special significance to that move?"

Instead of answering directly, Maloney fired back, "Does it make you uncomfortable?"

"No," Nora mumbled. "I just want to know what it means."

"It doesn't mean anything," Maloney replied. "It just feels good to pinch."

Bullshit.

He was absolutely lying.

There was no way it was for a reason that base.

The next day.

Maloney ended up waking Nora when he got out of bed.

Nora poked her head out from beneath the blankets and yawned at him.

Maloney gently shoved a pillow into her face. "Go back to sleep."

It was Saturday. She had no work scheduled, so she could absolutely sleep in.

"Do you have to work today?"

Nora pushed the pillow aside with her head and looked up at Maloney, who was sitting on the edge of the bed adjusting his tie.

"Yeah," Maloney replied.

"Oh," Nora mumbled quietly. "Never mind then."

Finishing his tie, Maloney turned and patted her head. "Never mind what?"

"I wanted us to go on a date today."

"A date?"

"Yeah, didn't we agree to start dating again? How can we date without actually going on dates? I don't think we've ever been to the movies together. I was thinking we could catch a movie, grab dinner, and then head to a hotel tonight..."

Nora trailed off, and Maloney instantly cut in, "Alright, we're going on a date today."

"But don't you have to work?" After talking for a bit, the drowsiness began to take over again. She yawned, her eyelids heavy.

Maloney didn't hesitate. "The date is more important."
