Nora had gone straight to the hospital that morning to visit Cassidy.
Right as she was about to push the door open, she nearly collided with Silas's assistant.
"Mrs. Jameson." The assistant gave a quick nod, clutching a thick stack of files as he hurried off.
Nora walked in to find Cassidy hunched over a laptop on the tray table. She sighed. "Do you understand the concept of bed rest?"
"Do you understand my current posture?" Cassidy patted her blanket. "I am in a bed. Therefore, I am resting."
Unbelievable.
Nora placed a container of chicken soup onto the tray. "Five miles in fifteen minutes, express delivery. Eat it while it's hot."
Cassidy slammed her laptop shut, ripped off the plastic lid, and inhaled the savory steam. She eagerly scooped up a spoonful, savoring the rich broth.
Late last night, she had whined in their group chat about missing her favorite diner down the street from her apartment.
She hadn't demanded it, just complained about the hospital food.
It was rare to see her act so pitiful.
So Nora had woken up early to fetch it for her.
Cassidy polished off every last drop.
"I mean it, Cass," Nora said, eyeing the contracts piled on the nightstand. "Take a few days off. You're in the hospital for a reason."
"I know my limits," Cassidy dismissed with a wave. "Anyway, I'm fine. Go back to your husband and enjoy your honeymoon phase."
"I'll hang out for a bit longer."
Cassidy's eyes narrowed, scrutinizing her. "Did you two fight?"
"No."
"Then why are you lingering?"
