When Nora entered the room, Cassidy and Parker were in the middle of a conversation.
"...Don't worry, I'll pay for that car you want."
"Are you serious?"
"Yes. I'll handle your mother."
"Since when are you this generous?"
"I have conditions," Cassidy said flatly. "Parker, from now on, no matter who I'm discussing business with, you are not to interrupt me in any way. If you have a problem, you can ask me after I'm done working. As long as you stick to that, I'll buy you whatever you want."
Parker stared at her for a few seconds before suddenly sneering. "Are you cheating on me and trying to buy my silence with a car?"
Cassidy stared back at him, utterly deadpan. "The man you punched the other day is Silas King, the top executive at Quantum Tech and our firm's biggest client this year. With his status, do you honestly think he'd be interested in a married, pregnant woman like me?"
Parker scoffed. "That pretty boy is a major client?"
"Silas is Maloney's closest friend. If you don't believe me, go ask your buddies," she replied coldly. "You throwing a punch at him took a lot of effort on my part to sweep under the rug. If there's a next time and you actually cost the firm money, not even your grandfather will be able to save you."
Cassidy hadn't wanted to lecture him.
She just wanted to resolve the issue peacefully.
But Parker's obnoxious mouth tested her patience, and she couldn't help but toss in a few threats.
Parker had just finished his three-day punishment. Officially, he had been subjected to severe discipline, but in reality, he had just been grounded. Aside from the first day where his father and grandfather dragged him into the family study to put on a show of reprimanding him for the cameras, he had been sent straight back to his room.
Still, he was pissed off.
Being scolded by Cassidy only fueled his rage.
"I bet you and that pretty boy are—"
Before he could finish his sentence.
Nora kicked the hospital room door open. It slammed against the stopper and rebounded with a deafening crash.
