Parker was the sole heir to the Quincy family.

Raised with sky-high expectations, his parents had poured everything into grooming him.

Unfortunately, he was a disappointment. Lacking talent, drive, and decisiveness, he was entirely unfit for the role.

Thankfully, Parker had married Cassidy.

Cassidy was capable, ambitious, fiercely loyal, and fiercely driven. The Quincy parents absolutely adored her as a daughter-in-law.

They were equally invested in the child she was carrying.

Parker would never be capable of running the company in this lifetime.

He was destined for a useless figurehead position.

His parents planned to pass the family empire directly to the child Cassidy was carrying.

That way, for the sake of her baby, Cassidy would have no choice but to dedicate her life to the Quincy legacy.

The Quincy parents were ruthless.

On one hand, they offered Cassidy massive incentives; on the other, they threatened to cut off Parker's allowance, forcing him to salvage his marriage.

Reassigning his understanding secretary, chauffeuring Cassidy to and from work every day, buying her endless gifts to win her over, coming home on time every night to take care of her...

Parker hadn't done a single one of those things.

Even though he had to bend the knee, he opted to fake it rather than actually submit.

Cassidy already had a dominant personality and blew minor issues out of proportion. If he yielded to her now, she would rule his life forever.

That wasn't a life he was willing to live.

Knowing exactly what kind of man their son was, Parker's parents kept a close eye on him.

When his mother found out Cassidy was attending a party tonight, she texted him the address and ordered him to go pick her up.

Cassidy's eyes turned ice-cold. "Your mind is so filthy, you see dirt in everything."

"Cassidy!" Parker lunged forward again, trying to grab her arm.

Felix swiftly pulled Cassidy behind him, eyeing Parker with high alert.

"You dare glare at me?" Parker roared, his fury peaking. "Who the hell are you? You actually dare glare at me!"

As he shouted, Parker shoved Felix violently.

Caught off guard, Felix stumbled backward, his back slamming into the hood of the car with a deafening crash.

The impact threw Cassidy off balance as well, and she nearly hit the pavement.

"Cassidy!" Wincing against the sharp pain in his back, Felix scrambled to steady her. He glared furiously at Parker. "What the hell is wrong with you?! She's pregnant!"

The sight of Felix and Cassidy holding onto each other stung his eyes.

Blinded by rage and completely devoid of reason, Parker sneered viciously. "Pregnant and out prowling for men. Who knows if the bastard in her stomach is even mine!"
