Nora was so swamped her feet barely touched the ground. Her brain was completely fried. Even if the sky were falling, she would have slapped it and told it to come back in two days.

And right in the middle of this chaos, Cassidy called. "Seraphina wants to meet with you."

"Goodbye," Nora said flatly.

"Tell her yourself!"

"I blocked her number!"

"That's exactly why she made me relay the message!"

"Then relay my rejection back to her!"

Cassidy took a deep breath. "She made me an offer I couldn't refuse."

Nora went silent.

"I seriously don't have time." Nora glanced at her schedule for the day, then at the half-finished dress forms in front of her. The sheer volume of work made her vision go dark. "Just tell her I'm dead."

Cassidy exhaled heavily.

"How about this," Cassidy offered a compromise. "She said she absolutely has to say this to your face. I'll bring her to your studio. She can look at you, tell me, and I'll pass it to you right there. Does that work?"

"Whatever. Just make it quick."

Nora hung up. Less than thirty minutes later, Cassidy and Seraphina strolled through the doors of Nora's design studio.

The studio had hired several new assistants recently, making the space incredibly cramped. Desks were overflowing, and people were even sitting on the lounge sofas sketching designs.

Nora ushered the two women to the high-top stools near the coffee bar.
