Nora snatched the mouse from his hand and carefully reviewed the pros and cons of each office building. She selected three that caught her eye, planning to make a final decision after visiting them in person.
"I'll go with you to look at them today, alright?"
Hearing this, Nora turned her head, staring at him with a look of quiet resentment.
"I'm allowed to go inspect new studio locations, but I'm not allowed to go to the studio to make a dress?"
Maloney replied, "I never said you couldn't go."
"Then I want to go."
When Nora pressed the issue, Maloney fell silent again.
"Nora."
"Hmm."
"Let's be reasonable about this."
"You be reasonable."
"Didn't the doctor tell you to rest and recover?"
"Yes, but it's not like I'm going out to run a marathon. I'm just going to the studio to sketch some designs. Sitting down! I won't be burning any energy, so how is that not resting?"
"It drains your mental stamina."
"It's not that dramatic."
They had been arguing about this for days due to conflicting views.
Nora needed rest.
Growing up, she never knew the meaning of the word.
She studied in the morning, studied at night, studied when she was exhausted, and studied when she was sick.
Her willpower was so fierce that constantly overdrawing her physical limits had become second nature.
She might not feel the consequences right now.
Young people were always fueled by reckless momentum.
Maloney's voice grew stern. "Didn't the doctor say that draining your mental energy too much in your youth makes it incredibly difficult to recover as you get older?"
Nora had no rebuttal for that.
Which was exactly why she had been behaving so well lately.
The doctor really had said that.
Although she disagreed with the diagnosis and half-suspected Maloney had bribed the physician to say it.
