The Divorce That Brought Us Back novel Chapter 373

Nora had no concept of rest.

For the past two years, Maloney had dedicated himself to nursing her back to health.

He had certainly helped her put on some healthy weight.

But after she fell ill and he listened to the doctors' warnings, he realized that monitoring her diet wasn't enough; he needed to force her to learn how to rest.

Some people were so used to eating bitterness that they unconsciously sought it out forever.

It was human nature to chase more success once a taste of it had been acquired.

Because of this, Maloney decided to slow his own life down.

He delegated portions of his corporate management, officially altering his title. He stepped down as CEO of the Jameson Group, abandoning the daily grind to focus solely on his role as Chairman, overseeing long-term strategic execution.

For the next three years, his professional focus would shift toward launching a new tech firm in Southampton.

Southampton was a beautiful place. The climate was mild and pleasant, perfect for rest and recuperation.

He purchased a luxury villa nestled in the hills of Southampton, renovating it entirely to Nora's tastes. From now on, they could spend three months there every spring.

He could expand his new market while providing a change of scenery to help her relax.

Conveniently, Nora also had business ties in Southampton.

She wouldn't have time to complain about being bored.

"Maloney!"

Just as he was mapping out their future, Nora skipped out of the workroom and threw herself into his arms. "I'm all done!"

She had been keeping a close eye on the clock, wrapping up in exactly two hours.

She always took his warnings to heart.

Nora wasn't an incredibly ambitious person.

Like him, she ultimately prioritized their family life above all else.

She just had a softer personality.

She was reasonable; she believed that whoever made the best point should be listened to.

In this instance, Maloney was right, but his methods were far too domineering. Feeling frustrated, she offered her small rebellions. Yet the moment he compromised and indulged her, she would immediately pivot to sweetness, eager to please him.

She really was so easy to coax.

Maloney gently stroked her back, his voice a low murmur. "Let's spend a few days in Southampton next week. How does that sound?"

Nora nuzzled obediently against his chest. "Are you going there for work?"
