The apartment was a property Cassidy bought before the wedding.
Designed specifically as a sanctuary for when her husband inevitably pissed her off.
"I didn't even go back last night."
Cassidy had ordered a massive hot pot spread for lunch, the leftovers still scattered across the dining table.
"You should've texted me earlier, we could've eaten together."
Slipping into her designated house slippers, Nora dragged herself into the living room and collapsed onto the couch. "I ate at home."
"What is with the half-dead look?" Cassidy stood over the couch, analyzing her friend. "Still stressing over the divorce?"
Nora didn't even know where to begin, her face twisted in distress. "How about you update me on your drama first."
"Let me ask Jasmine if she's coming over." Cassidy pulled out her phone. "Wait, let me order bubble tea first. You want one?"
"Yes—"
While waiting for the drinks and Jasmine, Cassidy filled Nora in on what happened after the parking lot brawl.
"Honestly, it's not a big deal."
Her tone was flat. "You saw how Parker was acting last night. I'm not going back there just to be his emotional punching bag."
"I dropped an appointment confirmation in the family group chat. It said I booked an amniocentesis for this morning."
Nora's eyes widened. "Did you really go?"
"Of course not." Cassidy shot her a look. "Do I look like an idiot?"
"Oh, right. Keep going."
"The second I hit send, the group chat blew up. It was the middle of the night, and everyone was demanding to know what happened. I ignored them."
Cassidy paused, a smirk playing on her lips. "Later, my mother-in-law DM'd me. She didn't ask what happened. She didn't offer to discipline Parker. She straight up told me she was transferring another three percent of the company shares to my name."
