Nora shook her head. "No, it's fine."

Family drama and relationship issues were impossible for outsiders to fix.

"Is her sister doing badly?" Maloney pressed.

He rarely asked about her personal life.

Surprised but honest, Nora replied, "There's no cure for her condition. Medical tech is better now, and she had surgery a few years ago that bought her some time. But she'll never live a normal life. She has to stay at the wellness center permanently."

"Her sister is sick, and she's getting engaged?"

"Her sister pushed for it. She wants to see them married before she dies."

Maloney nodded slowly.

"And your other friend?" he asked.

"Huh?" Nora blinked. "You mean Cassidy?"

"Yes."

"She's... she's fine. Oh, actually, she's pregnant."

"I thought she was getting a divorce."

"Wait, how did you know about that?"

"I heard rumors."

Maloney and Nora ended up talking a lot about her friends.

They all ran in the same circles, anyway.
