“I’m more than happy to help you, Mischa, especially as this will follow on and help others in your situation as well. I like to think of myself as a bit of a mad genius. I’m always looking for new ways to help our otherworldly creatures. Got me a blessing to go ahead and help from Selena herself for the most part too.” Maddy smiled at her. “I’ve met her, spoken to her, and she thinks my ideas are out there, a little wild but doable.”
Mischa sat staring at her now as she spoke those very words. They were exactly what, who she believed to be the moon goddess had said to her as well. She chuckled softly. “I believe I got a visit from who was Selena not so long ago,”
“What did she tell you? You gotta listen she’s a bit cryptic at times, not always, but…” Maddy smiled at her now.
“In a forest of light there lives a mad genius. Find them, and you’ll find what you’re looking for, which will help many others, like yourself.” She stated, and Maddy really smiled.
“Now that is pure cheek from our Goddess, she appeared to be completely cryptic but, in fact, gave you which pack to go to and who to speak to. Just kind of made it sound like a puzzle, but it wasn’t a puzzle at the same time.” Maddy chuckled. “You gotta love her.”
“There was something I got from her that night, she felt like a kindred spirit to me. Almost as if she understood my pain… I wondered myself, as did my beast, if she suffers what we do. Needs the same thing I’m trying to help bring about.”
Maddy looked right at her and frowned deeply but then nodded slowly. “I guess it is entirely possible. Though I don’t see any filigree on her neck but… Who knows, maybe she is actively bringing you to me, for this very reason. I guess we will see, if she comes and asks for what I came up with. If she does, then…” Maddy sighed. “That would be very sad, but I guess needed if our own Goddess has to have one.”
They arrived at the Forest of Light, and she murmured, “Now that’s a gate you don’t miss.”
“Designed by that gate guard right there,” Palmer stated, as they passed through them, and she could hear the pride in his voice. “That’s Art, aptly named by his parents,” Palmer chuckled softly, “He’s got his own gate and pack symbol design business now, and he’s mated to the Alpha’s sister, who is one of our pack doctors now.”
The car was pulled up to a very large and grand packhouse and Mischa kind of stared up at it in awe. She’d never seen anything like it in all her years, not even the Rising Blue Lotus was this grand a building. She understood just from looking at that packhouse, this pack was more than wealthy.

She reached out to take the suitcase that Palmer got from the boot of the car, only to have him smile “I’ll run it up to your designated suite, Maddy will need a coffee fix before doing anything else today and she’ll walk you up to your room later.”
“Oh, alright.” Mischa nodded.
Maddie smiled at her. “I’m fussy, own a café franchise and will only drink my own brand of
coffee, is what he means.”
They all walked into the packhouse and Palmer walked off to an elevator while Maddy walked her over to a café, called the Java Hut, and stated, “I’ll make you the Maddie Special, you’ll love it.” And she wasn’t kidding. She actually stepped up behind the counter and made the
coffee herself.
She stood and read the specials board and smiled, told Maddy she’d like to try the Londyn special next time. It sounded pretty good to her. She was walked right to the packhouse dining room, which completely shocked her. It was up on the top floor of the packhouse and not only had a view of the pack but half of it was outside.
“This is nothing like a normal packhouse,” she murmured.
“Hmm, we’re a little different.” Maddy chuckled. “Come on.” she motioned for her to come and join a table. “This is my sister and the Luna, Oriana,” Maddy stated. “A those two are my other sisters Zara and Londyn… This is Luna Mischa, from the Night Whispers pack.” Maddy
did the introductions.
“Hello, thank you for having me, especially seeing as we’re not affiliated.” She looked them over. They didn’t look anything alike as most sisters would, but she did get the same family scent off them. “You’re all sisters? I don’t see it,” she murmured as she sat down. “And all mated to the Alpha Unit. That’s a bit odd,” she commented. “Though you do all smell the
same.”
Maddy smiled at her. “Not born of the same parents, we were from all over the country, came together as rogues and blood bonded to each other, chose to become a family. Best family I could have asked for,” Maddy smiled.
“All of us could have ever wished for,” Oriana smiled. “Maddy saved my life.”
“Ours too,” both Zara and Londyn stated together.
Mischa nodded as she absorbed that bit of news and a thought occurred to her, “Are you at all concerned that your children might pair up with one they’ll likely consider to be their direct cousin?”
“No, it’s explained to them, there are no secrets here,” Oriana told her simply.

“That’s good then.” Mischa nodded. “Kind of freaked me out a little. Being a Luna myself, my first thought was how they would feel about something like that.”
“It’s all good,” Maddy assured her.
They sat and ate dinner and were joined by the Alpha and his unit. She got the introduction to Alpha Slade, Beta Vance and Delta Yuri. Then Maddi walked her down to the third floor and showed her to a suite, “This is your room while here, a full suite. I didn’t know how long you’d be willing to stay, so it’s got a kitchen and I had it stocked with treats and snack foods, a few proper meal items for making sandwiches and what not.
“There is a coffee machine but feel free to call down to the café and order coffee, one of the staff will run it up to you. There’s a menu for the Café in all visiting members‘ room, they do delivery. Or just stroll down there and pick it up. Alls good.
“I’ll leave you to if for the night, if I take you to the lab at this hour, neither of us will get sleep, I can be fully immersed pretty quickly into the tech side of me. My Mate has rules on me in the lab, because, well, if he doesn’t, he thinks he’ll never see me and neither would our children.” She shook her head and rolled her eyes a little.
Mischa nodded. “I understand, you love what you do, and once in the lab get lost in it at
times.”
“I do. Now I also noted you drank a glass of red wine at dinner and liked it. I took the liberty of sending one to your suite as well. For you to enjoy at your leisure. I’ll see you at breakfast, upstairs in the dining hall at, say eight. The only floor not accessible is where we all sleep. One needs a swipe card for that, but all other areas of the packhouse are free for you to
roam.
“If you want to hit the gym or entertainment area, they’re on the ground floor, just like in all other packhouses. Again, just stroll on in and do your thing. I’ve got your number now and will text or call you if I need something and can’t find you.
“But after breakfast I want to take you to the lab and discuss with you what I think might help. It’s just an idea that this time mind you.”
“Oh, I thought you had something to trial out.” Mischa murmured.
“We do. It’s just not seen as… oh, long term, or I guess permanent, and I’ll be aiming for that. I am working in conjunction with another in the pack. You’ll meet her tomorrow. We’re hoping to combine my tech know–how and her magic know–how I guess you could say.” Maddie told her, “Get some rest, it’s likely to be a long day for you tomorrow.”
“Alright thank you, again.” Mischa nodded and stepped into her suite.

It was a nicely furnished one–bedroom suite, in soft yellow with small pops of orange about the place. She found her suitcase right there by the inside of the door and placed her hand on it and wheeled it to the bedroom. It had a balcony with two seats and a view of the landscaped gardens in front of the packhouse.
It was only 8pm and there were still pack members out and about. She watched as a group of wolves walked along and their children all ran about on the grassed area playing and chasing each other. It was a happy, lively pack she saw. Much like her own could be seen doing on good days from her own suite.
She opened that bottle of red wine, and poured herself a glass, got her phone out as she relaxed and snapped a picture of it in her hand while she leaned on the railing tagged it ‘A nice place to relax.‘ She had thought to not post anything to her pack’s social media page, but then being off grid and regardless of the fact she’d told Paul and her unit she’d be back in a few days. It was possible they’d worry.
She didn’t do it for her Mate, just for those that actually cared to know if she was okay was all. This would also prove she was fine to Anthony, if he came at her about not telling him she’d changed her plans. She could say she posted on the pack’s social media page why was he worried. It showed she was fine.
There was actually nothing from him since Christy fell into the canyon, not one single post, and she wondered what he would do if she got injured. Would he come to the pack hospital and sit with her all day and night? Or would it just be a pop in visit and then back to Christy. She shook it off a moment later. He’d likely go to see her but be stopped by Christy on the way and forget what he was up to or doing and walk off with Christy.
A part of her wanted to test it. Injure herself, mind–link to Christy to tell Anthony she was injured and see just what happened. Christy would have to know if she didn’t tell him, she’d be seen as having those traitorous tendencies once more and would be in trouble when he found out or if the Elders came for her.
So she’d have to tell him and that would probably draw not only Anthony but Shade right to them, and all that hard work to have him forget about Mischa would likely go down the drain.
She smiled to herself; that was a catch–22 situation for Christy.
