They left the tech lab and headed across the pack, walked through a lightly forested area out to another section of the pack and to a house that had a beautiful garden out the front with lots of colorful flowing plants and a stone pathway.

It kind of suited a fairy, she thought to herself, so bright and colorful, full of pinks, oranges and yellows with pops of red along the way. Maddy smiled at her. “It blooms all year round. Aubrette is out the back. I just linked to her she said to take the side path down the house and come out to meet her. She’s just made fresh rose tea.”

They made their way down the side of the house and Maddy pushed them through a small fence that chimed with a softly tinkling noise and as Mischa closed the gate she was a set of tiny bells hanging from a hook on the back. It was a lovely soft chiming sound that she

liked.

They walked into the backyard and there was just more color to be seen everywhere, though it was more red and yellow with a few pops of pink and purple along the grassed path that led down to a paved and stepped area around a pond, and that area of the garden was mostly green, and so very vibrant as well, there were a few hints of the yellow, orange, red pink and purple she’d seen along the way.

There was a tall willowy woman sitting at the very back up those stairs, in what appeared to be a natural stone seating area. There was a flat stone on which sat a glass teapot. She stood up and smiled at them, waved them down to where she was.

Mischa walked along and the more she walked through the yard from the very front to here at the back, the more relaxed she felt. This home had a calming vibe to it that could actually be felt. There were some small fish in the water of the pond, all swimming about she saw, as

she walked past it.

Maddy introduced her, “Luna Mischa, this is Aubrette, our resident Light Fairy.”

“Hello,” Mischa smiled at her and extended her hand to her. “Your garden is lovely.”

Aubrette not only smiled but lit up a little at the compliment. “I think so too,” she stated, “Sit, I just made rose tea. From those very roses over there, I picked the petals myself after the dew set and dried.” She smiled softly.

They all sat and Aubrette looked at her. “So you’re the poor unfortunate soul that needs a fairy blessing?”

Mischa raised an eyebrow at her and Aubrette chuckled a little. “My apologies, just the way fairies speak, please don’t take offense to my words. It…” she seemed to think about for a

moment. “I guess translates to: one that finds themselves in pain who needs outside help. The longer I’m alive, the more fairy I become. Grew up here, but over the past few years seem to just speak fairy, not that I’ve ever even been in the fairy realm.”

Mischa nodded. “Hmm, sounds about right, and likely just your true lineage shining through. Inherited knowledge that kicks in when you need it to,” Mischa stated, and accepted the tea

when it was offered to her.

“I heard Madison talking about trying to create something to prevent a heat from happening, and a part of me kind of was just all ears up, as wolves would state, and my mind was all white and foggy for what felt like quite a while, but I think it was like actually only a minute and then I kind of just knew I could help.”

“How?” Mischa asked.

“I am not only a fairy, I’m actually a hybrid witch fairy. Although I don’t actually cling to the witch side of me, I can pull on it at times, though not for evil deeds. I’m a light fairy and only do things that are considered light. But the history of the very pack showed me that a witch can imbue moonstones with certain things.

“I am a jeweler here in the pack, and I design all sorts of moonstone jewelry. I can do that for you and use my magic, though I won’t need witch magic to imbue a piece of moonstone for yourself as I originally thought. After that moment of realization, my mind has kind of been on fire, and I believe there is a fairy way of stopping your heat.”

“Fairies can actually do that?” Mischa asked now.

“Hmm, I can, though Maddy has probably told you there will be rules around it, and contracts to be drawn up and signed by all parties. Including that of one on the Wolfen Council needing

to witness it.”

“She did mention something like that. But if you could give me something to stop my heat, I would pay my weight in gold,” Mischa stated.

Aubrette chuckled softly, “Normally, there would be a fee, and something like that, and it would be large, but… Maddy explained why, and well, I had a visit from one that also thinks this is important. So it is going to be fee free,” Aubrette stated. “And not just for you, for any that want this option.”

“I can pay you something or send a gift or whatever you want,” Mischa told her.

Aubrette waved it off. “I need to atone for my father’s sins.” She muttered, “Evil bastard, that he is.” She shook her head, “I will be just like my mother, who gave her life essence to protect me. I will use my powers to create something good for this world we live in.

“He’ll get what’s coming to him.” Aubrette smiled a little. “He created something one should not have dared to even consider creating. When she wakes up, that one; whose mother gave her life to save her as mine did for me, will be the death of him.

“I’ve seen it, dreamed of her. We’re kind of connected by our births, I suppose. Though I’m a hybrid, she’s a Triune. It is the very way we came into the world that was the same, I suppose, that connects us, just for a different species.” She clucked her tongue and shook her head.

Mischa raised an eyebrow. “Why do people covet things they shouldn’t?” she muttered.

“Got greedy natures or dark souls,” Aubrette stated.

They finished their tea and followed her into her home, into her jewelry design and working studio. “What I will make will be a bracelet, bangle, watch, necklace or ring tailor–made for you, if you don’t choose from one already made. Once it’s imbued which I will have, to have, a drop of your blood for. Then you’ll just wear the item and, as long as you’re wearing it, when your heat comes it will activate the imbuement and stop your heat.”

“It’s that simple a thing.”

“Hmm, for fairies, yes. Have you heard of our past and how we wronged Selena and Freya?” She sighed. “Let me tell you the basic history. I have the inherited knowledge… The fairies did kill Rin, though it was the Night Realm Fairy’s that led to his death, not the Sun Realm.

“They used what was once called the night river’s water, to kill him. It’s as cold as the depths of the deepest oceans. That river is now the rift that separates our world and no fairy can

survive the waters in the rift.

“Due to his death, Freya ripped our worlds apart, forever separating the eternal twilight realm into the sun and night realm and now no sun fairy can be in the night realm and no night fairy can be in the sun realm.

“This, in turn, saw many of us already with Mates, being unable to be with our

Goddess–Gifted Mates after the death of Sion and Rin. Which also meant that we suffered

once a year through our festival of breeding, which is when all fairies can conceive their offspring; what you call a heat.

“Many suffered on both sides and a way to stop us from feeling the effects of the festival of breeding had to be created. So, this is for us, fairies, something we were all taught to do in the years after Sion’s death. The sun fairies now hate the night fairies, and although they all take chosen mates, the heritage of the terrible era, of the festival of breeding pains, is still taught.”

Mischa sat staring at Aubrette and could hardly believe what she was hearing. An entire world’s two realms had suffered like she had for however long it took them to come up with

their way to stop them feeling the effects of a heat.

“Selena came to me because she has nothing against the sun realm fairies, knows they are trying to actively find a way to bring the sun god back into existence. But it’s near on impossible, now that Freya split the world into two realms. Seeing as one has to be born of light and dark.

“No sun fairy will ever accept a night fairy after what they did. We worshiped Sion, the sun god, while they worshiped Selena, the moon goddess. They killed our god so..” she sighed and shook her head, “We, the sun realm, didn’t even give them a way to save themselves from their own pains of the festival of breeding. Punished them ourselves for their cruelty. Just as much as Freya did.

“But through this knowledge inherited down to me, I can create what it is you need. There is only one catch to the magic that will be used… For it to work, you have to go into heat. Only then will the imbuement activate itself and stop the heat. You will have to suffer one bout of

heat for every heat you go into,” Aubrette told her. “I need your blood so it only works on you and no one else. Normally, I wouldn’t even need your blood. I could just imbue a stone with

the enchantment and hand it out to those that want it, but the Wolfen Council has laws on such things now where wolves are concerned.”

“That is also what I thought would have to happen with my implant too. For it to be activated, the heat would have to come and be recognized,” Maddy told her. “Though I am hoping I can tailor make them to specific individuals and the pre–heat hormones in their blood work again so it can’t be used by those that shouldn’t use it, only work on who it’s meant to.”

Mischa could see it was a good plan from both of them. “I accept the imbued item and, Maddy, tell me what you need for your project if my own pack doctor can help you with blood work and hormone markers prior to a heat happening. I’m certain he will.”

“Alright, and I need you to let me collect your normal pheromones while here. I’ll get your pack doctor’s details and sort out a conference call between him, Dana and myself. To start working on the tech. I worry about the imbued item coming off, or being lost or stolen why I say it’s not reliable. Effective it will be, I don’t doubt that, but if your Mate ever found out what it was for, he could destroy it, and you’d be back to square one. Until you could come and get a replacement from Aubrette.”

“I understand that.” Mischa nodded.

“What would you want, Mischa, jewelry–wise?” Aubrette asked her and pulled out several trays of many pieces and laid them before her: gold, white gold, and rose gold pieces. “It’s best you pick something that you like, and you can see yourself wearing all the time so it goes unnoticed or isn’t seen as something you only specifically wear around the time you go into heat and arouses suspicion. Though you won’t have to wear it all the time, only prior to your heat, say a week before in case it comes early.”

Mischa looked at the pieces, ‘I don’t wear anything super flashy, and if I started doing that it would stand out. So simple but elegant would be good.”
