CH 109
She returned to her suite and leaned on the closed door for a long moment and felt truly happy for the first time she knew, in a very long time. She could even feel that Laud was happy inside her mind as well, at all that had just gone on down in Slade’s office.
Tomorrow, all their problems would be resolved for them, or, well, their one true major concern anyway. All the heats that they were to have between now and until that moment came when she got Anthony to issue that rejection, and it was going to come from him. She was going to force his hand into it at some point.
When, where and how was still unknown to her, but she was going to do it. See him at some point in the future come to realize there was no future for them, regardless of them being Goddess–Gifted to each other.
This, here and now, she honestly believed was her destiny from their Goddess, which also meant that she would get what she wanted from it as well. Already things were being granted
to her, as far as she was concerned.
She no longer felt pain or anguish over the loss of the love she’d once had, her and her beast’s heart was completely cold to their Mate. Her heats had just been sorted out, no more
would they have four days of it, just one bout of it twice a year from now on.
She considered this very thing a true blessing from Selena to herself, seeing as it was Selena who had sent her here, told her to come to this very pack where Selena knew all her pain and suffering could be resolved.
She grabbed that half full bottle of red and popped the cork from it, grabbed a glass and headed out to stand on the balcony of her suite. She poured herself a glass and then looked up at the half moon hanging there in the sky above the forest. “Thank you, Selena.” She raised her glass directly to the moon, toasting their Moon Goddess and then sipped it.
Mischa now knew that all her heartache and pain and suffering weren’t for naught. That yes, she’d once had a loving Mate and had now been eclipsed by his new Mate coming along, wasn’t for her lack of being a good Luna or a decent person. That it was, in fact, a task given to her, that Selena knew she was capable and strong enough to get through all she needed to, in order to bring her to this very moment and place in time.
That she would have the mindset to not want this to happen to others, to have the patients to sit and wait for the answer to come to her. To not just reject her unloving and uncaring Mate and leave the pack heartbroken, but to have the stubborn strength of a True Luna to suffer at the hands of her own Mate, so others could benefit from her own suffering.

She’d not rejected and left like she knew so many would have, like so many in that research article had done, but to have the resolve to find a way to deal with it, in view to helping others like herself. Something a Luna Ranked wolf should do.
It was something that, as a Luna, she saw was her duty now, to help others like herself stop suffering exactly what she did. She had turned her horrible situation into something that would help other she–wolves survive it like she was. That 3% was about to become 1% or less
and she knew it.
Because those in that 3% that gutted themselves, it wasn’t about not wanting a pup with their Mate, it was about wanting to stop the pain of being abandoned to an unattended heat. That was now going to be resolved. She knew Maddie and herself had just figured out the real reason behind all Selena had said.
There weren’t many fairies that lived outside their own realm, certainly not here in the human realm, and Aubrette had never come across a she–wolf, or likely anyone in need of that knowledge; of how her very own ancestors survived the tearing of their world apart and being separated from their Goddess–Gifted Mates all bound inside the night realm and unable to be
in the sun realm now.
Hearing Maddie’s words had seen that part of Aubrette’s inherited knowledge of her own kind be voiced, and therefore a way was created. It took a mad genius to want to think of a way to solve the problem to activate the beacon of light, a wolfen folk working with a fairy folk to
create what it was that was needed here in the human realm.
She’d never even heard of wolfen folk living within the fairy realms and didn’t think fairies lived in the wolfen realm either, so likely this was a rare thing to happen. Perhaps only could happen due to how Aubrette was created and brought into the world. Mischa didn’t know the full truth behind that, but thought that was how this thing the fairies could do was now knowledge to wolves.
“I have the strength to see it through until the end, Selena.” She stated, “I don’t much like the way it came about, but I can see that only one that has to suffer this very thing, and is devoted to protecting not only herself, but all she–wolves in general was needed to bring this about… Not everyone would stay and research, find a way.
“Most would just reject their uncaring, unloving Mate for what happened. I thought about doing that and, you know it… Probably didn’t know yourself if I had the resolve to fulfill what you had planned out for me… I’m glad I have not let you down.”
She drank her glass of wine and poured the rest from the bottle into the glass and leaned on that railing as she looked at the moon once more, “He will be so very handsome, when you bless me a second time. You know, Laud and I deserve that right, earned it, I dare say.” She smiled a little cheekily. She really did want that second Mate.

She felt Laud chortle inside her mind, then pushed forward to be on the surface, “Fast and strong, a little devious and fun. Knows without a doubt what he wants.” Laud put forth to the moon what she herself wanted in another Mate.
Mischa smiled. “Deep, dark soulful eyes that I can drown in, and wild wavy hair to run my hands through.” She chuckled as she drank some more.
“Fur like his hair, everything wild about his beast.” Laud growled a little on the playful side inside Misha’s mind, which made Mischa herself chuckle again.
She sank down on the chair out there and relaxed. It was getting late now and not only were they happy, but they dared to tell Selena they wanted not only a second Mate but what he and his beast was to look like and be like as well. It was pure cheek of them and not many would dare to do it, she supposed.
It also wasn’t something a fully mated, male or female wolfen folk would normally ever do either. A mated wolf wouldn’t find any other than their Mate attractive, certainly never thought about, or dreamed of, finding a better Mate for themselves.
‘We bear Anthony and Shade’s Mark, but we’re not his Mate and Luna anymore.‘ Laud stated simply ‘Just stuck to him until the day comes, he gets a full reality check, we just something gifted to him by the Goddess, he uses to bind to him by is all.” Laud told her.
Misch knew it to be true and could only agree with her wolf, she would, and she knew, Laud would accept a second Mate without batting an eyelid. ‘It’s almost time to go home to that one who abandoned us, but keeps us bound to him under the guise of the Goddess‘ will.‘
‘Let the show begin, Mate.’ Laud snorted, ‘We no belong to him anymore in our hearts. Don’t have to care anymore.‘
Mischa nodded, ‘It is indeed time to play our hand, and in full.‘ She told Laud and picked up her phone and turned off the do not disturb and finally accessed all those messages that had been sent by Anthony since she’d shut him down back in California.
‘Mischa, please don’t be like this.’ ‘Mischa please, don’t ignore me.’ ‘I’m sorry, I understand I was wrong‘ came through that very day she’d called him and Christy out and silenced her phone.
Then, on the day she was to arrive home with Brent but didn’t arrive in the pack ‘Mischa, where did you go?‘ ‘Please text or call me, where are you?‘ ‘Please don’t do this, come home so we can talk.‘
Then, after she’d posted on her social media and commented on a few posts, there was ‘I just saw your post on the pack’s social media, I’m glad you’re okay.‘ ‘Mischa please, tell me where you are, I just want to know your in a pack safe somewhere and not out in the human

world unprotected.‘ ‘Please Mish, just answer one message, talk to me. ‘Please don’t ignore me, it hurts, and I’m starting to get really worried.’
She shook her head and wondered if he was finally getting a real taste of how she’d felt being ignored by him. His being worried, combined with the ache inside his chest that would symbolize her being so very far away from him, she could only think it was a full constant for him now, it was possible because she wouldn’t answer him.
She moved her eyes to the message he’d left on her social media, that she’d dismissed herself when it popped up, and refused to click into it, even though she’d been online at the time. Clicked it open now and read it, ‘I miss you, please call me. That is a beautiful bangle.’ Those last five words told her he’d seen her post, probably meant to show her he was on her page and looking at what she was posting.
She didn’t respond to it, just read it and closed it, as she had all his other messages. If he checked them, they’d get that little tick to show she’d finally read them. There was only one left, and that had come today. It wasn’t from Anthony; it was from Christy. That was a full curiosity, and she opened it to see what that she–wolf’s game was going to be.
‘Mischa, you need to call Anthony. I can’t settle him or his beast. Stop ignoring your Mate, it’s not only rude but actively hurting him.‘
Mischa snorted at the wording of that message, and shook her head. She’d been gone from that pack for six days now, a three–day conference with a flight on either side of those days, but then she’d not returned home as she was scheduled to do yesterday. Not going tomorrow either. That was a solid week of not returning home.
Two days of no one knowing where she was bar Brent, but he wasn’t going to say where, she’d told him not to and so knew he wouldn’t. His flight had left before hers, and he’d not booked her flight like he had going to that conference.
