Mischa woke to her phone ringing and rolled over to look at it. She sighed as she saw Anthony’s name on the screen, and she thought about ignoring it, but then opted to answer it. The show had started back inside the pack, so she would play her role. “Yes, Anthony,” she stated upon hitting the green button, as she looked at the time; it was barely 5am.
“You finally picked up… when are you coming home?” Anthony asked. He sounded tired to her ear, and those words told her she’d been right. Christy had indeed not shown him that
message she’d left her. A part of her wanted to state ‘go ask Christy‘, but she didn’t want him rejecting her at this point, she wanted to see how desperate Christy was to keep her Mate.
Even as she thought about that very thing, she realized something else this right now. If Anthony was mad at her and ignoring Christy at every turn or blamed her for Mischa not coming home, that should secure see her induce her own heat to have him go back to her bed. If he was actively choosing not to be in it, that was.
He sounded tired to her, which was indicative of he likely wasn’t sleeping in Christy’s bed right now, which meant that they were at odds, and getting him back into her bed would be Christy’s number one priority, her way of resolving everything. So, yes, her going into heat should see Christy induce her own heat to draw him right to her. Keep him there in her suite until he was unable to leave; concerned about the type of heat she was having as well.
That would work for her.
“Not today,” she answered him, leaving Christy out of it.
“Mischa?” he murmured softly.
“I’ve got a meeting at 10am and one at noon. I don’t know how long it will go for, but… it’s the last one I need to have for now,” she told him honestly. They were going to return to the pack,
so she’d let him know that.
“So, you’ll be home tonight or tomorrow, right?” he asked, and she thought she heard hopefulness in his voice. Which implied he wasn’t certain she would want to.
“I don’t know, I’ve not checked flights home yet or booked one. No point until I know the outcome of the meeting,” She answered him simply.
“Where are you? I’ll check and book you something myself,” he offered.
“No, thank you. I can manage my own life,” she stated flatly.
“Mischa, I miss you, and just want to be of help.” He sighed.

She rolled her eyes, that wasn’t it at all. He just wanted to make sure she was coming back and know exactly when as well. “No you don’t, you can just feel I’m far away from you is all. Got an ache in your chest, do you? To remind you, I’m your Mate!… If I was there inside the pack you wouldn’t be feeling any of this. Go and have sex with Christy, and the problem will be resolved for you,” she commented a little drearily, but tossed Christy’s name into the mix to see if she could figure out what was going on between them.
“I don’t want to,” he bit out almost angrily. “I’m not interested in doing that right now. I just want you to come home, back to me,” he told her.
Ah, so they were at odds. She nearly smiled but didn’t. Instead, asked “What for? Are the pack’s finances in trouble?” She’d not actually looked at them once in the entire time she’d
been gone. They could be for all she knew.
“Mischa!” he gasped out as if not understanding why’d she think that was the only reason
he’d want her to return.
“What?” she asked right back. “Simone’s in the Luna’s office, doing a great job, the units helping her, and you’ve got Christy right there with you. You don’t actually need me at all right now. Unless there is something wrong with the pack’s finances. So, I’ll come home when I am good and ready too. That will be after my meetings. Deal with it.” She laid it all out for him. Those words were the actual truth of the matter, whether he wanted to believe them or
not. He didn’t need her for anything other than managing the pack’s money.
“You’ve been gone for a week with little to no contact with me,” he told her. “This is about that, not finances.” he muttered.
“Yes I have,” she admitted. “But this, right now, is actually no different to you going off to the Kingdom for the Annual Alpha Meeting or even the quarterly Alpha Meetings here with the Wolfen Council, now is it? So, suck it up, you’re supposed to be an Alpha, pull on your bloodline and stop harassing me,” she stated.
“What!” he exclaimed. “Harassing you, I’m your Mate, and I’m concerned about you, I don’t even know where you are right now, what you’re doing, or when you’ll be coming back home to me. I’m not harassing you… I’m showing my care and concern for you, my Mate.” he half grated out at her.
“Why? You didn’t see me in the two weeks before I left, so what’s the big deal with this week? You don’t even think about me when I’m in the pack, so why now? Oh… I get it, it’s the ache of distance you feel inside your chest, that has you recalling I’m your Mate…
“That will resolve the minute I get home, so suck it up and man–up. You’re the one that set
this all into motion, so at times you’ll have to deal with the consequences of feeling me not be there in the pack as well. While I have treatment.”

There was complete silence at the other end of the line now, as he was either unable to comprehend what she was saying or just didn’t know how to respond to her at all. After 20 seconds of silence, she rolled her eyes and stated, “Oh, by the way, while I’ve got you on the line, I’ve decided that I’m going back to uni, to attain another degree, after Christy completes her Luna Lessons. So go and tell her to hurry up and pull her finger out of her ass, I ain’t getting any younger.” Then she clicked the line closed.
Mischa shook her head, it was nothing more than Anthony and his wolf fretting about not actually knowing where she was. It also told her that Christy’s presence at his side couldn’t actually settle them if Mischa wasn’t close by.
She also understood a little bit about that, why his other Mate couldn’t calm him or his beast. It was because she and Christy didn’t get along, whereas if they did get along it probably would work, simply because her words about why Mischa wasn’t there would actually be truly caring for him, not just something she said to try and make him forget about Mischa and focus on herself.
Mischa’s being away from the pack and Christy being inside the pack as his only Luna, had him likely feeling as if Mischa had actually left him, because she’d told him on more than one occasion now to reject her and just be with Christy. Right now, he only had Christy and he
didn’t like it.
Probably felt annoyance and, or anger every time that he saw Christy walking towards him, smiled at him and called out to him, trying to be all loving towards him even. It wasn’t having the same effect on him as it did when Mischa was inside the pack, couldn’t settle him as it would normally do, but she thought it was likely having the opposite effect, it was winding him up.
That was the first time he’d ever stated to her knowledge, that he didn’t want to have sex with Christy, or certainly not to her in that mannerism. She could actually tell from his tone and attitude that he wasn’t interested in doing that right now, that’s gotta tick that she–wolf off to, it was her go–to card to get his undivided attention.
She sat and thought about it all, and realized that the longer she stayed away from the pack and had no actual contact with Anthony, the more it came to his mind, that he was possibly losing her or had actually lost her and at whose hands; Christy’s.
She’d not expected this kind of reaction at all, she’d been pretty darn certain he’d be completely oblivious and Christy would get to see how it was like just to be the two of them. Just like she was certain that was what Christy had also thought would happen.
She’d kind of been hoping for that as well, because it would see Christy up her game plan, which would in turn definitely bring Mischa’s plans to fruition. Seems her leaving the pack and him, not knowing where she was, flipped his switch completely.

She wondered now if Christy would have to stop and rethink her game plan, as she now realized she was going to need to keep Mischa inside the pack for her to continue to eclipse her completely, because it appeared it was going to freak Anthony right out if Mischa actually really did leave him, and only have Christy as his Mate.
‘He doesn’t know what he wants, Laud mused ‘When we inside pack, he has no concern for us. When we outside pack, he feels the separation and doesn’t like it.’
‘I dare say that is exactly it, Laud. He wants us in the pack, but doesn’t need us for anything physical. We are to him just a Luna on paper to keep the pack financially stable.‘ She agreed. ‘ He wants his cake and to eat it too. Only he doesn’t realize what that does to the bond we once had. It’s not hurting us to be apart from him at all, she commented. There was no ache inside her chest.
‘I feel nothing,‘ Laud agreed, ‘not even knowing they’re fretting.‘
‘It no longer elicits sympathy from either of us at all.‘ Mischa nodded along ‘He feels it, that ache in his chest that we don’t have. Christy is likely pissed off right now too, that all her hard work to eclipse us and get rid of us for good, is not going to work as she thought it would
either.‘
‘Good, bitch should suffer.’ Laud stated ‘I’m hungry, let’s get food in our belly.‘
Mischa smiled, not even their appetite was affected by what she heard Anthony state, or how he sounded. ‘I could eat.‘ She answered her own wolf and got up out of bed. “Let’s hit the gym and go for a run after breakfast. I’m feeling energetic.‘
They dressed and headed upstairs to the rooftop dining room to get coffee and breakfast. They sat and enjoyed watching the sunrise light up the sky, and her attention was drawn to that of a she–wolf that was practically glowing to her.
