CH 115
Those words gained Mischa’s attention, ‘back to being with him!” “Are they not sleeping together?” Mischa asked curiously.
“No, haven’t been for the majority of the time you’ve been gone. Not at all since the day before you were due to come home, I’ve also seen him actively shut the Alpha’s door in Christy’s face twice this week when she went looking for him when he wasn’t in her room at night. I’ve heard him myself snarl at Christy about she’d better apologize to you when you do come home, and until she does that she can bloody sleep alone.”
Mischa sat down as she thought about all she was hearing from Letti, and wondered just what kind of shit
storm she was going to be walking back into. “What do you believe I’m coming home too?” she asked after a minute’s thought.
“Hmm, I’m going to say it’s likely to be a Mate that is going to be as clingy as all hell. That ache in his chest …” Letti sighed. “Paul’s little sister stated it’s not just a normal ache; that one would experience when their Mate is away. That, for him, it’s actually causing him real pain, not just discomfort. To him, she put it down to as if he’s feeling the tearing of your bond. That with you being so far away from him, he’s actually able to feel just how broken you two are.”
She thought about that, how she’d once felt when he started spending more and more time with Christy and how she felt the breaking of their bond slowly, painfully, tearing inside her chest. Finally, he was getting to feel how she once had in full. She’d told him when he’d come off that shaming post that it wasn’t a nice feeling being separate from your Mate, that he’d get to experience it. Now he was and he clearly didn’t like it.
Just one week of it was all he was getting. She’d had to put up with it far longer than he had, she’d also seemed to handle it better than he had.
“Mischa,” Letti interrupted her thoughts. “I’d be expecting him to be all over you, trying to touch you, hold you, keeping you close to him and probably wanting to kiss you, he’s more than restless, at the best of
times.”
“Great, just what I need.” She muttered. Finally, she’d found a way to rid her heat, and he was actively going to be wanting to pay her attention when she truly no longer cared at all, and wanted a new Mate for
herself.
“Hmm, I also think Christy just got a full taste of what is going to happen with her own bond if she ousts you from your three–way bond. Has now realized, I dare say, that he is going to blame her in full for it as well. She’s been quiet for a few days now, just stopped trying to engage with Anthony. Though she is actively watching him from a distance. Calculating in her brain, I suppose,” Letti told her.
“Where’s he sleeping?” Mischa asked curiously.
“That was also interesting in itself. Even Kendrick shook his head at what is going on there… That first

night he was back in the Alpha Suite, then he went to Christy’s Suite the second night. Then, when he kind started losing it… things changed. I found him asleep in the Luna’s office. He had a blow up with Christy when Brent returned home by himself, and he’s been sleeping in the hallway outside your suite ever since. Odd to say the least”
She frowned at that, and thought about it. “He’s trying to sleep where my scent is, I dare say. Or where he feels connected to me, maybe.”
“Hmm, that was Paul’s assessment of the situation.” Letti agreed.
“He’s not broken into my suite, has he?” Mischa asked.
“Not that I’m aware of no,” Letti answered. “I think it’s finally hit him in full, with you not being here, being
so very far away and you actively not talking to him all at the same time.”
“He’s finally getting to see how I felt in full. That’s how I felt in the beginning. He just doesn’t like it is all. But this is what you get when you treat your Mate like shit. Karma bites one in the ass.” She stated kind of
dismissively.
“He definitely doesn’t like it. Do you want me to tell him you’re coming home tomorrow?” Letti asked. “It might settle him.”
“You can if you like. I did speak with him this morning, though I don’t know what time it was there, 5am
here.”
“Hmm, I’m going to say, around 7am, he did attend training this morning. He’s been putting the boys through hell all week in training, all his anger and aggression is thrown into training. Kendrick called off morning training until you come back. It’s just Anthony and the boys out there currently, and they’re on the
full defensive.”
“Is he injuring them?” Mischa asked with a heavy sigh.
“Nothing they can’t handle, Kendrick stated they are fine, kind of like going into a real battle. The three of them against one ticked off Alpha, hunting his Mate and their in the way. He chuckled once about it being like a bit of a war zone, but that was good for them and upped their training, gave him and the boys the
г chance to see if they could bring down an Alpha in a rage.
“A good test of their abilities, they can bring him down, just so you know… So, he probably called you after training this morning… Tell him or not?” Letti asked once more. “Though I think telling him you’re coming home will likely see him being the one at the airport to pick you up. But not telling him…
“will see him all over you the minute you arrive home here inside the pack. It’ll probably be worse here inside the pack than out in the human world, where he will have to contain himself and his beast,” Letti
told her.
“Likely so.” Mischa could only agree with Letti’s thoughts on the matter, considering everything she’d just heard. “He’ll feel it any way, the ache inside his chest will get less the closer that plane gets to the pack, likely go away the moment we fly over it, the flight path almost fly’s directly over the pack itself.” She
mused.

There was nothing she could do about his response to her being gone from him or going back to the pack either. She’d not actually expected him to react like he had, she had thought, just like Christy had, that it would be no different to her being there, that Christy was there, and he’d still only want to be with her.
She’d not considered that ache in his chest where she was concerned, would see him come to understand what he was losing. Though now knowing that, she wondered just how far away from the pack she could get before that ache inside his chest kicked in. He’d spend the second night with Christy, but not the first…
She wondered if he’d tried to alleviate the ache by going to Christy even though he was annoyed with her. Only it hadn’t worked. He’d learned the hard way, it seemed, that Christy wasn’t everything to him and his bond with her couldn’t help the ache in his chest that reminded him he had a second Mate, and that she was gone from him.
She also knew that being away from one’s Mate allowed one to not feel so very connected to them, that
one’s attitude and thought process, responses to varying things kind of changed as well. It was why, when
the Wolfen Council were investigating something in a pack, they separated the Mates involved, especially
if they had concerns about the she–wolf’s health and well–being.
It allowed for the she–wolf to feel differently about her situation, and feel like they could speak freely as
well. Distance and separation could crack the mate bond tether, not sever it or ruin a bond, just allowed for one to truly admit how they felt, and not feel that they had to comply with what their Mate told them to
do or say.
It was a good technique to adopt, and the more distance there was, taking them out of the pack and to the point of that ache starting, could really change/how one felt and spoke about their own Mate and situation. Sometimes the Wolfen Council would, in fact, request a meeting with only one of the bonded pair and at the council grounds, while leaving the other inside the pack.
That could put states between them and that was where things really got laid out for the council. It could, she knew see the she–wolf just state point blankly that she wanted out of her mate bond. This is what they did to Alpha and Luna’s that were under investigation, where they thought the Luna was being coerced or treated terribly by the Alpha.
Was a prisoner bound to an Alpha she didn’t like, but had constraints upon her, ones she wouldn’t dare speak of in front of her own Mate. But with distance between them and a Wolfen Council member right there, they felt they could speak the truth and be granted protection and a forced release from their mate bond to the one that had bound them to them.
She could only guess that her attitude towards Anthony which was pretty much the same as inside the pack; where she didn’t concern herself with him because he didn’t concern himself with her. That he’d blipped over it all because he couldn’t actually feel anything was wrong when she was there inside the pack.
It was now for him, being felt in full for the very first time. Christy’s hold over him did not extend to when

Mischa was gone off out of the pack. There was a range to it, she now understood. Though being in the Rising Blue Lotus hadn’t made him cranky or annoyed, turn on Christy. Though as she thought about that, she wondered if that was down to him actually knowing where she was.
That they’d not been at full odds at the time, he’d been spending time with her back then, and she’d been letting him because she’d want to know if he could be redeemed only now she was done, and there was no redemption to be had. Something she’d stated point blankly to his face; right before she left.
Ah, that was it. She’d told him exactly how she felt, that he’d reverted back to only caring about Christy, and then that, combined with the ache of distance, it was pretty much a rejection from her, just not formally spoken and the further away she got from him and his beast the more they came to understand
that very thing.
Then she’d stopped talking to him, wouldn’t tell him where she was or when she was coming home to him. Not to the pack, he’d specifically stated when are you coming home to me, and she’d not giving him a day. He actually was feeling the severing of their bond… no wonder he was cranky.
