CH 172
Anthony frowned slightly as he looked at her, but then he nodded, “If that’s truly what you want, Mischa.
Then back to the original reason that I called for this meeting.” He stated and looked to Christy, “Explain to me why you didn’t go and apologize to Mischa when she got home last night. She didn’t turn in right away, it was early, as I said she had dinner in the pack dining hall.”
“How was I supposed to know that? You were going to have dinner with her in the city before coming home. Then you were in a fit of rage when you got back, so I stayed in my suite to not get involved in whatever you and Mischa argued about. I just figured she’d gone to her suite like you did,” Christy stated. “Figured?” Anthony asked her instantly. “Did you not think to connect a mind–link to her and ask if she had a free moment to speak with you? And if not, last night, to ask when so you could go and apologize.”
“She could have apologized through the mind–link.” Simone murmured.
Mischa watched as Christy turned and looked at Simone. She clearly wasn’t happy about being called out, because yes, anyone could do that very thing. With the exception of the truly wolf–less who didn’t have the mind–linking ability. Simone smiled at her as if to say ‘What did you forget you could do that?‘ and Christy ignored her words and turned back to Anthony.
“I don’t want to come between you two. I certainly didn’t want her… you getting more angry and then directing it at me,” Christy murmured.
“Didn’t want her… What?” Anthony asked curtly, repeating Christy’s cut off words back to her.
“Nothing, I simply opted to rephrase myself is all,” Christy answered him.
“I’d like to hear your original statement, or I’ll have Paul tell me. He is switched on, just so you’re aware,” Anthony informed her. Seems he really was mad and, with her being gone for a week, he was clear and level–headed once more.
They all watched as Christy turned and looked at Paul and her jaw tightened. She saw Paul raise an eyebrow and then shake his head. “You think that right now is a good time to think I’m only here to back Mischa up? That I’m going set you up and tell everyone in this room lies to see you in a bad light.” Paul asked directly, letting everyone know exactly what she was thinking.
As for what she’d heard him state, it wasn’t at all necessary, because of all she’d done and there was proof of it. Though it did make Mischa curious as to if that was how Christy actually saw Paul. That he’d lie for Mischa just to ruin Christy’s plans. She guessed she could think that, but she wouldn’t need to if she’d never done anything wrong. If he’d never once picked up anything of bad intent from Christy where Mischa was concerned.
“How about Christy…” Paul leaned back in his chair, “I bring all the other Gamma–blooded wolves into this office, for you. I’ll step out of the office altogether when they get here. So that you won’t think that I, the reigning pack’s Gamma, will lie about what I feel from you, here in this very office, including how you feel about me,” he announced to the room.
alt
“He has three siblings, a father and two uncles, a few cousins all out there inside the pack” May stated, ” There are 17 Gamma–blooded wolves that can come into this room and sense you out. Don’t actively use their Gamma ability because there is no need for it, because they are not part of the hierarchy of the pack’s leadership. But if requested by any of us, they can actively turn it on and use it at will. It is naturally available to them due to their bloodline.”
“Do you want that, Christy?” Anthony asked “17 other wolves inside this room to hear why you’re in here and witness your having to apologize to Mischa. This is an open formal meeting and anything they hear inside this room can be repeated by them to anyone without fear of punishment, as long as they don’t
embellish it.
“It’s all being recorded and will be documented in full in not only your file, but in Mischa’s, as well as mine, seeing as it was I that called this meeting, and it involves all three of us. Something I called myself, because you did not do as I instructed you to. Which, according to your own words, to me the day Mischa left this pack to go on her trip.
“You told me that you were actively trying to get along with Mischa, wanted to become friends with her so the three of us could get along and that would help Mischa and my bond regrow. Was that a lie? Did you lie right to my face just to try and placate me or change the subject at the time, and have me blip over what it was you were doing that day?
“Which I don’t believe was you just coming out to say goodbye, seeing as I personally told you to stay away. That I was driving Mischa to the airport myself… You, I believe, followed me, watched our interaction and then saw Mischa had chosen to go with Dr Brent, and took that opportunity to put our Mate Bond in front of Mischa on purpose, get between us.
“I’ve thought long and hard about it, actually even checked the camera footage, and yes, you stood off to the inside of the front doors to the packhouse and watched us. I told you to stay away yet, did you?” he
asked her now.
Ah, so he’d investigate Christy himself and seen it, the way she plotted and planned to sow discord between them. Though she wondered when he’d done that, on the day or only this morning before this meeting was called. Because he’d not mentioned it last night or in any of the previous calls or texts.
Christy was just standing there, a fist tightly balled at her side and didn’t say anything at all, she’d been caught out by her own Alpha Mate. “This, Christy, is one of the reasons you were supposed to apologize to Mischa, for what you did that day. I told you that you’d better apologize to Mischa, yet here I am, having to be the Alpha to this pack and request a formal meeting to see you have to be made to do it.” Anthony
shook his head.
“You could have just reminded me, none of this needed to be done. You’re humiliating me and for what, who?” Christy bit out. “Your other Mate.”
“Hmm, I am.” He nodded. “Because none are above reproach, I actually expected you to apologize and if you had just gone and done so, none of this would be happening, I wouldn’t have to humiliate you, now would I. So as for humiliating you for what? That is your own unbecoming behavior that clearly needs fully
eorrecting.
“As to for who? For yourself, not Mischa, I’m humiliating you because you didn’t take the initiative to
apologize on your own when you knew you should. It would have taken you all of 5 minutes to hunt her down and state the words I’m sorry Mischa, for… and laid out why you were there apologizing to her: So
it’s all on you.
“Do not lay the blame for any of this on Mischa. She was a million miles away and can’t be blamed for anything that happened inside this pack while she wasn’t here inside it,” he stated, and Mischa actually snorted, as he repeated Christy’s own words to her, of that phone call she’d not put through.
“I’ll give you the option, Christy, you can have Paul, my trusted Gamma of two decades, with an unblemished record in this room, or all of the Gamma–blooded wolves that are here inside this pack. Come in here and sense you out. I am giving you this choice before all, to make it for yourself, and only you can make it, so choose,” Anthony stated.
“That way, you can’t say you weren’t given a choice, or that we brought in one that will lie and only be here for Mischa, 17 Gammas, or do you believe they’re all going to be coerced into lying? If that is the case, then something is very wrong inside this pack.
“And you can call the Alpha Council and request before all of us, them to come and investigate if this entire pack’s gamma bloodline is against you. If the leadership, your own Alpha Mate and former Alphas and Luna’s of this pack, us the Elders are out to get you and why. I’ll call Alpha Dennis myself and put it on loudspeaker for all in the room to hear his response to your request, and we’ll follow his direct orders.”
Both Christy’s fists were balled at her sides now. “See, you’re all ganging up on me, this is what I feel.” Christy snapped, “How would any of you like it, walking into a room like I just did. Without knowing what was going on. I don’t like it, no one would. I don’t care if Paul stays.” She bit out, “Let him, you’ll all just do as you please, because none of you care about my feelings, only Mischa’s.”
“Right now, you are correct about that very thing,” Anthony stated, “Because she is the one that was wronged by you and more than once.”
“How did I wrong her? I simply had Luna Lessons to attend, and I hadn’t come across her yet today was all, and that one thing sees you all ganging up on me, coming at me like this.” She swept her hand at them all in this room. “It’s not fair, you never treat Mischa like this.”
“What reason would we have to treat Mischa like this?” Debbie asked right back, “She’s never done a single thing to you to warrant her apologizing to you. Never tried to get between you and Anthony, she attends all the Luna Duties without fail, never leaves her office until they are done.
“She’s been the reigning Luna for 22 and a half years without incident, caused no trouble for anyone and actually gives an apology if she does something wrong and endeavors to fix the problem as well. “You, Christy, claimed to do the Luna’s Duties, yet couldn’t pass the test, so lied about that. You pull Anthony away from Mischa all the time, getting between them even on Mischa’s birthday or their mate bond anniversary. You weaseled your way into her very suite twice now, and you often left the pack to
L
ditch I una Duties.
Hell, you attempted to ditch Luna Lessons with me, have, in fact, done so on more than one occasion, so comparing the two of you, if you were one of us, would you see who we should stand behind and who we should question. It’s not us or even Mischa that turned our eyes on you. You did that all on your own. Now, you just don’t like being held accountable for all you’ve done to sow discord is all.”
