Ch 129
Anthony’s words just now told her he wasn’t likely going to want to participate, because he didn’t even like her voicing he’d abandoned her heat, and in this study he’d have to admit it and give the reason why, by his own hand. He nodded slowly after a moment’s thought and then held his hand out for the envelopes she
had.
Mischa gave them to him, “All the details are in there, I have already filled out and handed mine right back to Dr. Dana, because I not only as a Luna, but personally as a she–wolf, want to be of assistance to others suffering like I did, and help bring about less of the ramifications in that previous study.”
“It was a one–off thing, Mischa, and it will not happen again. I assure you of that,” he told her, and he sounded very firm and sure of himself. “On that note, your heat is due in just two weeks, and I have made the decision to stay here inside the pack from the 1st of May, seeing as it’s regularly due on the 3rd or 4th.
“I will stay here so that not even your first bout is missed by me. I won’t have you suffer even that pain alone. As you might have in the past due to me being in the city and having to rush back for it. From now on, 1 will be inside this pack three or four days prior to when your heat comes. It is, Paul tells me, almost as regular as clockwork.”
She nodded. “It is.” she agreed.
“So, I will work from my office here inside this pack, anywhere up to a week prior to either of your heats coming, depending on the day of the week it’s due.” he told her.
She felt a little annoyance roll through her at those very words, even though she understood he was trying to prove to her that he did not intend to let her suffer alone ever again. If he was here, she was unlikely to avoid being mated by him during that first bout.
Although that, she supposed, also depended on just where she was and what time of day it occurred, as well. He had no access to her suite and never would, so keeping him out of it was as easy as her simply not opening the door to him.
As she thought about that, she realized that would go against her plans for Christy, and she sighed internally. She wanted that to come into fruition. She would have to wait and see, because she was kind of hoping she could still get Christy to be right there and smell her heat as it bloomed.
Perhaps a few impromptu visits to Debbie’s office were in order. In the lead up to her heat, she made a mental note to check the times of her heats beginning, being documented to see if they lined up with her coming across Christy out in the pack. That last one had started while Anthony was at training, and she knew Christy was still in his bed.
She returned her focus to Anthony as he stated her name. It was clear she’d zoned out for a minute or more, and he probably thought she was thinking about what he said, and how she felt about that very thing, considering she’d told him not to come anywhere near her other than her heats unless it was pack related.

She looked at the envelopes in his hand. “They are quite in–depth questions, and you nor Christy are required to be part of the study.” She returned to the original topic of why he was in this room, ignoring what he’d told her about what he was going to do.
“So, don’t go committing yourself to it, until after you’ve read it all, and understand what it is requesting of you… You’ll find some of the questions to be invasive, and you’re not likely going to want to answer many of them in full. I have left nothing out, want a full and accurate study to be attended to, to see those statistics drop dramatically, and a full treatment plan come into fruition.”
She watched his eyes move to the envelopes, and she could see his brain aiready ticking. “All the questions are the same for each person in this, the setting up of the study, it stated that in the intro of my paperwork.” Mischa told him, “But it’s not going to be just this one questionnaire either. I believe a detailed journal of how things are going, from each person in the bond is to be logged every week. Once this part is
done.
“You reading that, will see you know what I answered… I also opted for full open disclosure, so if you choose to join it, and I’m not expecting you to join it, that is for you to decide on your own. This is just me giving you an option to participate and nothing more,
“If you choose to join, you’ll have access to all my responses to that questionnaire in your hand and to all my diary entries as well, I would presume. Regardless of if you allow me to see yours,” she told him. “It’s a lot to read, and it took me half a night to answer everything in full. So there is no rush, as you can see, they already have address labels attached to them to be mailed back to Dana.
“Just send it back when you’re done with it, and when the study actively begins in 8 weeks‘ time, I will have access to everything you wrote or not, as will you to mine if you opt to be a part of it.” she told him, wondering if once he read it, would he be able to take responsibility for his part in all that came from that
one moment.
Anthony nodded again and then looked at her, sighed a little on the heavy side. “I don’t foresee Christy taking part in this.”
“Neither do I. That is also part of the study, as I said, who is willing in the mate bond and who is not, to participate. Statistics will be calculated about that very thing, and those statistics, I believe, will also document the rank of those that are willing and unwilling, as well as who are happy for full, partial or no open disclosure.
“Something else you need to make a decision on by yourself, because, as I stated previously, some of the questions are… for you, for Christy, not going to see you in a good light unless, of course, you lie about what happened. And I believe a full comparison of that will be done in the study too. You also may not want myself or Christy to see the answers you write if you opt to join the study that is.”
She gave him all the necessary information for him to make a fully informed choice of his own, about joining the study and what type of disclosure he wanted, so he couldn’t say he wasn’t warned in full about what he was getting himself into if he opted to join it with full open disclosure.
“I will sit and go through it, read it in full and put proper thought to it, and let you know of my decision as

don’t need to know what your decision is,” she told him. “Again, that is solely something for you to decide on your own. Whether to join or not, I will get a notification when it’s up and running in 8 weeks‘ time, and of the disclosure option you chose as well if you join.” She stated simply, a little dismissively, she thought absently, because she really didn’t care what he did anymore.
She was only curious as to how he would respond to this study, as to if his own ego would allow for him to be seen as a bastard Alpha Mate. To those running the study, their ranks were all listed there as well, six doctors and researchers, two of whom were alpha–blooded themselves, though what status they had inside their pack was unclear.
He sighed as he looked at her and realized she meant everything she’d said. It was none of her concern what he did. Then he turned and walked from her office and into his own and closed the door between the
two rooms.
She found her unit and Simone all looking at her now, and she tried to wave them off only to have Simone sit on the edge of her desk, “Did you really go and have treatment while you were away like you said you did? Or was that just to push his buttons? I don’t judge, just curious is all, is there is a treatment plan for this particular thing.”
“Hmm… you could say that, yes, there is now a treatment plan of sorts. I am the first to try it,” Mischa nodded. “My trip away; it was, oh, how do I put it… Cathartic, I guess. I do feel lighter and I got to relieve some, if not most, of my worries while I was in that pack and I do feel many she–wolves will benefit from going there as well.
“Though it will also have to depend on how long they’ve been dealing with their bond, as to if the treatment is only 50% good or 90% good, as it is for me. That will come down to where they are at emotionally. If they’ve been suffering for years and have come to not care about their Mate or are new to it and trying to deal with the aftermath, I suppose,” Mischa nodded. Many factors would likely come into
play.
“The talking to Selena?” Letti asked, coming over to her desk.
“I did that here in this pack, but I did go and do what she asked me to. Actually, the last few days away were all about what she wanted me to do. Since going there and speaking to who she wanted me to, and no, I will not be telling you, so please don’t ask.
“But since being there inside that pack, I’m not particularly angry about any of what happened anymore. I know I can’t change it, nothing will. I’m not really even sad about how things have turned out either. But think that was pretty clear in Anthony’s office.
“I told everyone I was indifferent, but now I simply just don’t care anymore. I am curious as to what Christy and Anthony will do after today’s outcome, but I didn’t lash her because I see no point. If I was truly ticked off at her and what she did, I would have lashed her, but honestly the moment she picked up the phone I knew what she was going to do.

“Hell even picked exactly what she did after answering the call and not putting it through, Anthony confirmed that himself. She really doesn’t disappoint sometimes.” She shook her head. “I’m curious as to what will happen when she comes off that shaming post, but I don’t care about it at the same time.” She shrugged.
“I have found a purpose from all of this, and I did actually request Selena gift me a second Mate as payment, I suppose, for all I have suffered,” she chuckled just a little. “Even though now, I understand it was her plan, she needed someone like me to suffer it, and not just reject my Mate because of it. To bring about that treatment plan, I’m now the first to trial. Will of the Goddess, as painful as it was to go through. “I also hope that she will give me exactly what I want. It’s also likely the only way Anthony will ever truly understand what he did. I want that for him, to gain some clarity and not continue to blame Christy for all his own actions, which I see he’s still doing in full. He has yet to actually take full responsibility for anything, is still in denial. I don’t believe he’s inherently bad. Just… not cut out to have two Mates is all, and my getting a second one might show him that.”
