‘s Heat Comes
She stood watching as Christy was released from that shaming post, she was being released by Debbie, not Anthony or one of his Unit as it would normally be. That was more than interesting to her. Though she herself had not seen Anthony at all in the past three days herself. He was bursy upstairs sorting out the reconstruction of what he’d apparently destroyed inside the Alpha Suite when he’d gotten home.
She also knew he’d signed himself up for that study. He’d mind–linked to her the night before last, that he had filled it in, and in full, that he’d left nothing out, and it showed just how very cruel and lacking of a Mate he had been he also opted for the full open disclosure. She’d stated simply, “Just send it to Dana. I don’t need to know.” And cut the link.
He’d not bothered her again, was she thought he was finally coming to understand she actually didn’t care, that her words to him had been brutally honest about how things were going to go for her, for him or them
inside this pack.
She knew where he was right that minute as well. Out on the training ground, it was Sunday morning and he had Alpha Unit training. One of the actual leadership had to be here for Christy’s release, and she’d followed Debbie outside though she hadn’t gone over there. Appeared to be just watching from a
distance.
Something she knew Christy was going to see and likely think Mischa was spying on her, when, in fact, she wasn’t. She was here to inform her of a few things. Mischa had retrieved her pack access card and phone, which had been locked away in the Alpha’s office as per protocol. She had to hand them back to her, seeing as Anthony was yet again opting not to do it himself, just like the last time.
Mischa was leaning on the packhouse by the open front doors, it was just after 10 in the morning, and she was sipping on a latte, in full view of not only that she–wolf but any and all pack members that walked by. She was curious as to if Christy would offend her today, and go right back on that shaming post.
Because the way she was standing out here, it would appear she was just watching on, enjoying seeing that girl on the shaming post. She saw Christy look right at her as those shackles came off, and she
r rubbed her wrists. Wondered if she understood that threat from the Elders in full.
That they would in fact bring the Wolfen Council here and investigate all the Gammas inside this pack, for conspiring against the Alpha’s Mate. Something they would start with by interrogating the actual Pack Gamma, and Mischa knew Paul wouldn’t hold anything back; she thought he’d take it a step further and request a seer to clear his name in full.
That would speak volumes to the Wolfen Council, and they would likely look at Christy and wonder exactly what she’d done, to tick the Gamma of the pack off, and feel he needed to do that. Likely come to the conclusion that it was the Alpha’s Mate that was in fact targeting the Pack’s Gamma, and not just him but all the Gammas in the pack that would turn the tables very quickly.
“Morning Christy.” Mischa greeted her as she and Debbie walked from those shaming posts to the packhouse. She even smiled politely. “The Alpha is at Alpha Unit training… As per pack protocol, one of the
leaderstrip has to see you be released and give you back your phone and access cards” Mischa held them But to her. “Debbie, you’re my witness everything has been returned to her,” she stated as Christy took
them from her.
“I am.” Debbie nodded.
“Christy, as the pack’s accountant, I have to tell you, I have canceled your Luna Card, as per the Alpha’s instructions. I have ordered you a new card, a regular pack members card. It will arrive within the next 10 days or so.” She smiled at her, a little more amused than polite now, as she saw anger touch Christy’s face. “Anything you earn for yourself will go into that account.”
“The rules for you are now as follows: If you wish to purchase anything with pack funds that you’ve not earned yourself, you must submit a full request from, they are outside the accounting office, are blue, and you can’t miss them, state in big bold lettering Request for Pack Funds. Fill in all the details on that form. If you even miss one section, it will be automatically denied.
“You then must submit that request form to me, the pack’s lead accountant… Oh, there are four other accountants in that office even when I’m not there, but I believe the Alpha specifically stated I had to be the one to review, approve or deny all your requests for pack funds.
“If you choose to give the form to another accountant, under any circumstances, even when I’m not in the office, so they can just approve it for you, it will automatically be denied… seen as you are trying to get around me, to get funds for something you want, but you believe I will decline it, therefor it isn’t actually
needed by you.
“That request will also still end up on my desk as proof of you trying to get around me. It will have the accountant’s name stamped on it that you tried to use All requests take 24 to 48 hours to be approved, so plan ahead if you want pack funds. Don’t expect to walk in and hand over the form and have funds dispersed to you on the spot. Do you understand the rules? Debbie was I clear in the rules?” she asked.
“Very clear a 10–year–old could understand them.” Debbie smiled a little.
“I’ll take my requests directly to Anthony,” Christy shrugged as if she didn’t care.
She heard Debbie click her tongue. “Did you learn nothing at all from your lashing?” Debbie asked, “Do you need another 5 lashings and another day on the shaming post Christy. I believe Luna Mischa is simply explaining the rules that Anthony laid out for you to follow, yet you already state to not only her face, but in front of me, disrespectful words that show you’ll go around her, go against the Alpha’s words and rules as
well.”
Mischa shook her head, it seemed Christy hadn’t learned anything, but then she waved it off. “I’m not offended, Debbie, let’s put that one down to she’s tired, and I dare say more than irritable after being on that shaming post for the past three days… Anyone would be.” Mischa smiled a little “I’ll let this incidence of her attitude towards me go and take no offense to it.”
Christy turned her eyes on Mischa, and she could see her brain was ticking on that last sentence. It was the word, ‘offense‘ that drew her attention as it was supposed to. She was learning right now that even her
126 Pont
attitude of how she actually spoke, the tone she used or implied could be taken as an offense by Mischa and see her be lashed by Debbie
“Don’t I even have the right as Anthony’s Luna to speak my mind and say what I want anymore?” Christy bit
out.
Debbie cleared her voice to draw Christy’s attention, “Actually, the Alpha himself tuld you in front of all of us Elders, both his and Mischa’s unit, you were not his Luna, only his Mate. So until he tells us otherwise, your Luna title is rescinded.”
“What?… that’s not right!” Christy gasped. “I’m his Mate.”
“Mm, that you are, his Mate. None of us deny that, but you are also his Mate that it has now been confirmed, is trying to destroy his bond with his Luna, Mischa. One that we’re all damned certain contributed 70% of the damage done to their bond. He’s not without fault, of course. He is dumb and blind and let you. But you, did it on purpose now, didn’t you!
“No Luna–ranked wolf would ever do that, try and rip another’s bond apart. Would in fact do all they could to protect it and keep bonded wolves together. Not very Luna like in anyone’s eyes. So, until you can do the job and be a proper Luna… Respect others‘ bonds, you don’t get to have the title of Luna.
“That now solely belongs to Luna Mischa,” Debbie informed Christy. “If you’re unhappy about all that’s going on inside this pack, that you set into motion yourself. Anthony did tell you that he would accept your rejection of your Mate Bond. He actually did mean that.
“You’ll see for yourself when you speak with him next that he is currently sporting an Alpha’s Oath mark on his right wrist. The other end of that is attached to Alpha Harvey. One of the pack’s former Alphas. That oath was made by Anthony before all of us Elders, just last night, knowing you were coming off the shaming post this morning.
“He came to us himself and told us he didn’t want to fall back into his old ways, that he wanted to be held accountable, then made an oath that was, if you issue a rejection to him, he will accept it on the spot. That if you so much as voice a threat of rejecting him regardless of the reason, or voice any words along the lines of just reject me,
“Implying that you want that, that oath will see him voice a rejection of you directly after the words are out of your mouth, and if you don’t accept it, he’ll call us to make you, seeing as it is what you want. There will be no more using that card to hold anything over him or try and elicit sympathy from him,” Debbie informed her.
Even Mischa knew nothing about that Alpha’s Oath between Anthony and Harvey. Something not to be taken lightly, she knew Harvey would never dissolve it, and she also knew that Harvey would be the one in control of it as well, it would have been part of the deal struck.
Though it was interesting to her that Anthony would do this, did he think he’d fall back to his old ways? That he also now believed Christy had some kind of hold over him and this was his way of getting around it. If that was the case, then why didn’t he just accuse her of it and find out the truth.

4t’s not that Shade doesn’t trust his own human not to fold, Laud told her. ‘It’s his beast pushing that ayenda, seeing as what Christy stated in the meeting‘ Anything was possible, she supposed.
Christy stared disbelievingly at Debbie and then, after just a moment, she pointed right at Mischa. “She voices that all the time, does it work for her as well?” she bit out.
Mischa wondered if it would. That would force his hand into rejecting her. She could work with that. Imply she wanted it and he’d have to reject her. That was a win in her books. But she stated, “Don’t bring me into this. I didn’t even know about that until here and now, like you. Though…” she looked at Debbie curiously.” If I go over there now and…”
“No,” Debbie cut her off, and shook her head. “It does not apply to you, Mischa.”
“Bummer.” She murmured and saw Debbie’s frown, saw Christy frown as well, she just shrugged at them
both.
“Why not?” Christy asked directly of Debbie.
“Because we the Elders would like Mischa to stay and be the reigning Luna. Anthony also doesn’t want it attached to Mischa. Knew what her reaction to hearing this was going to be,” she looked right at Mischa. He wasn’t wrong either.” Then she turned back to Christy. “You, on the other hand… None of us, the Elders trust you at all, so… just to let you know in full, we’re happy to see you go.”
