She watched as Christy’s look went from one of complete shock and anger to incredulous as she understood exactly what the Elders had done. Turned against her, and Debbie was now voicing it in full, who the Elders wanted for the pack Luna, and who they did not. Though how she didn’t already know that very thing, was beyond Mischa.
Everything she’d done in the past six months alone, should have told Christy that the Elders were not accepting of her. That they didn’t want her as the pack’s Luna or even Anthony’s Mate anymore. They’d declared she’d had traitorous tendencies and punished her for it.
Yet this stupid she–wolf still thought she had the right to stand as the pack’s Luna, when she had betrayed
her own Alpha Mate and the other pack Luna. Hadn’t reformed at all and admitted to not only wanting to make Mischa feel unloved and unwanted, but admitted to actively making sure she did.
No healthy pack would accept one such as this as the Luna to their pack. She’d been punished according to pack laws and granted leniency by her own Mate and by Mischa herself, basically given her own redemption arc, and like Anthony, Christy had squandered it and not strived to change for the better.
“What right do you have to say that to my face?” Christy grated out at Debbie. “I could have you punished
for that.”
Mischa snorted from where she stood. She found that, more than amusing considering the words Debbie had just spoken, the words Anthony himself had said in his own office. “Oh, may I answer that one Debbie, educate the uneducated about what she missed in all of this.”
“Be my guest.” Debbie nodded and there was a half smile on her face.
“Christy, what you missed and is so blatantly obvious to all bar… yourself, it seems. Is that Debbie is not only an Elder who holds power within this pack, that power comes from, where exactly?… Hmm, she’s a former Luna of this pack, can step into the role once again at any time she likes. Technically has seniority
even on me.
“Due to not only how old she is, but how long she reigned and was never once unseated or has a blemish to her name. So she outranks you inside this pack, even if you still held the Luna title. I look up to the former Lunas of this pack as the reigning Luna should. Go to them for advice and counseling on matters for myself at times. Luna to Luna. Debbie also has Delta blood, and you have warrior blood, so again outranks you.”
“I’m mated to the Alpha.” Christy bit out.
“Debbie is mated to an Alpha as well,” Mischa reiterated. “It’s how she became a Luna.” She shook her head. “Oh, then there is that the Alpha you’re mated to, demoted you from his Luna to being just his Mate, in front of everyone, and that until Debbie here sees you’re fit to be a Luna of this pack. That was Anthony directly putting her above you in the hierarchy of the pack.
“Do you think insulting Debbie, yelling at her about it’s not fair, or she can’t do any of that, when your own
Alpha Mate gave her the right to do se, is really a wise path for you to take. Could see you never be seen as wortly by Debbie, who is the one to grant you that right to regain your Luna title” She explained it to
her.
“It’s not a wise path,” Debbie snorted, “Christy, you thought we were ganging up on you in Anthony’s office, but really we weren’t. We just reacted to your insulting of us and Paul directly along with all the Gammas inside this pack.”
Mischa cleared her throat. “Actually, Christy dismissed Paul as her Gamma back in November, so…he nor Carol are attached to her at all anymore, Debbie.”
She watched as Christy turned and stared at her now, and laughed softly. “Oh, did you forget that? Let me
remind you it was when you were being hauled out of the ballroom for format punishment. He took your
words literally; they were also recorded in full.” She informed Christy of how it was.
Debbie nodded. “18 Gamma–blooded wolves you insulted,” Debbie went on, “Who can now feel you out, every single time they are near you. Probably will, seeing as the insult was massively offensive, they’ll be looking for something, anything of traitorous nature to report to the Alpha or one of us.
“To start a full investigation into just who is truly deceitful within this pack. Dug yourself a nice hole this time, Christy… I think you’ll find it’s much harder to get out of than the last one, because Anthony and Shade ordered the truth from you themselves, that will never be forgotten by them; what you admitted. Which was what Paul picked up on, and you tried to have him ousted for.” Debbie shook her head. “You don’t play chess, do you? You should probably learn.”
Christy stood staring at Debbie and even that last phrase she could see went over Christy’s head. It was about learning to strategize and think out the moves ahead of time, possible reactions and how to counter them with your own next move to win the game.
Her eyes turned to Mischa after a minute “You might want to push me out, but I’m not going anywhere, you’ll see. I’m not going to let you force my hand. I am Anthony’s Mate, and it is my right to be here as his Mate and Luna as Selena saw fit to gift him to me.” She bit out and then stalked off inside the packhouse.
Mischa snorted, fully amused, for that she–wolf to hear, then called after her, “I think you’ll do it all on your own. Can’t not be self–obsessed, that’s just who you are.”
“It’s Sunday Christy,” Debbie called out. “I’ll see you in my office in 40 minutes to continue your Luna
Lessons.”
Mischa looked at Debbie with amusement and Debbie chuckled softly. “Another round to me on that score
board.”
They both walked inside, and she was connected to a mind–link by Debbie, ‘It’s not over yet Mischa, I believe there’s still more to come.’ She snorted, more than amused by her own words.
‘That would be?‘ Mischa asked curiously.
‘I know for a fact Anthony has moved Christy out of the Luna Suite. She got stripped of her title, so she
can’t reside in there. The kicker, as you put it. He’s moved her to the suite across from Dereck’s room.
Mischa raised an eyebrow at her as she thought about that. It wasn’t just words of demotion, it was an act of demotion, one that the entire pack would see and hear about as well.
‘Hmm, he stated, if she wanted to have everything that was once yours, then she could also have the last suite you lived in, a one–bedroom place that is not a Luna suite, Debbie stated. ‘You did ask if she could bear the consequences. He now appears to be on a mission to give her the full consequences of her
actions.
‘See that she understands from this moment forward, that every choice she now makes, has not only
consequences if they are bad in any way. But that he is going to see that she is made to feel them in full at
every turn.’
Mischa frowned as they walked into the packhouse, and she thought about Debbie’s very words, That
almost seems to me as if he’s actually pushing her to voice a rejection or get around to telling him to
reject her, to activate that oath on his wrist.’
‘Mm, I agree with you on that, and I think he might just be doing so. Like Simone told you in your office, if he rejects either one of you it will look bad to his allies. However, if Christy rejects him or sets him up to reject her because of that Alpha’s Oath, that’s not him taking a hit, so to speak.
‘It’s him doing as he said he would, hold true to his word that she can’t play that against him, see him go to her when he’s with you. I think his Alpha Wolf is mightily ticked off with his other Mate. Debbie agreed with
her.
She moved her eyes to the elevator and Christy was standing there waiting for it. She was obviously not paying attention, the letters above it showed it was there on the ground floor, but the doors didn’t open for
her.
Debbie placed a hand on her arm to stop her from walking away. “This will be fun.” She murmured. Then called out, “Christy, you have to press the button to open the doors, that’s how elevators work.” Christy turned and glared at Debbie, then turned back to the elevator, looked at what floor it was on. Then
୮ she reached out and pressed the button, likely off in her own world, thinking about the things that had just come to light for her, Mischa supposed.
She watched Christy get in and touch her card to the floor access panel and frown, then do it again, huffed, tried to clean it on her dirty clothing and touch it to the panel. “It’s not working, you’d best call the handy man to come and fix it.” Christy stated looking at her and Debbie
‘It’s working.’ Debbie shot down the mind–link. “I’m going up to my office. Let me test it, Christy.” Then she walked over there and stepped into the elevator and touched her own access card to the panel, and she shrugged. “Mine’s working just fine, all floors lit up, must be something wrong with your access card.” Mischa had to bite her lips together as she understood just what had happened. Christy’s access card had been changed by Anthony, one of his Unit, or the Elders themselves; downgraded it due to her being
demoted from Luna to just his Mate. She was going to have to take the stairs up and down for the most part, an added punishment, she thought
She watched Christy Trown at her card as the doors finally closed, and Debbie connected herself to Mischa ‘Basement, Ground and 1st floor access, were the buttons lit up for her to use
Mischa did laugh this time. It was petty of her, but she found it funny, because she’d had nothing to de with it. She could have done it herself but hadn’t. She needed that she wolf to still have some perks of
being here to see her still try and get what she wanted.
She watched the elevator stop and let Debbie out on the 1st floor and then go to the top floor because, obviously, Debbie’s card had access to everything here in the pack. She watched Debbie lean on the railing
up there, “In for a rude shock: You wanna bet she explodes”
Mischa shook her head, “No, who did it, you or him?”
“Paul,” Debbie snorted, “a little payback for the insult to all Gammas I believe. I dare say Anthony will fix it. But let’s see who she blames for it?”
“Ah.” Mischa nodded and walked away. Her Gamma was looking to see Christy lose it and come ranting to her about changing her access, and Mischa could take offense to it. He was looking to see her go right back on the shaming post, directly after she came off it.
