She spent the next week sitting in her office tending to the Luna Duties, while Anthony was tending to Christy’s; once again, overly long heat. Though in her downtime she thought a lot about why Christy had tried to send Anthony to her room twice on that first day.
Though he was there to ask how she was? She’d never actually answered that question, and she wondered if he had taken her actively speaking to him, as the answer to his question. She would have appeared fine, but her words still told him she wasn’t about to let hirm tend another bout of her heat.
It didn’t actually take her all that long to figure out Christy’s motives, and there were more than one of them she came to realize over the course of the week. Like Anthony had stated;
Then there was what Mischa actually thought it was; 5. Christy was trying to get Anthony to go right to Mischa while he still smelled of Christy. Something Mischa had stated in full earshot of that she–wolf, that if he did, she’d refuse to let him mate her at all.
So, although it actually appeared to Anthony that Christy was now trying to share their Mate, and send him to Mischa. That she was not hanging on to him greedily or selfishly, when, in fact, what she was doing was trying to see Mischa be offended by Anthony turning up smelling of Christy’s heat; and have her reject him
for it.
Did it really surprise her that Christy had thought she’d finally found a way to up her game? No, not really, because she had to do something or Anthony was going to continue to see through her. So giving him. what he wanted, her voicing and pushing him to go to Mischa, he would see that as she’d changed and was coming around; that finally all the reprimanding and punishments she’d taken had sunk in.
Then there was the fact that Christy was also not begging Anthony to over mate her this time around. Using those drugs and not complaining about him not tending to her heat, she was actually actively telling him to leave the room before the next bout came. Admitting she couldn’t handle it. He’d been working from his Alpha suite’s office over the past few days.
Still sticking close to Christy but giving her space so he didn’t over mate her at the same time. But none in

the pack really knew that, just the leadership, the Elders, and the pack doctor, of course. She still wondered if Christy had reduced the dose of her own pheromones which she’d injected into herself to try and reduce the severity of the heat she’d set off.
Only to now realize that it wasn’t the amount of pheromones one used, at all, but the fact that they were her own which was the actual problem. But it was the only way her blood work would show there was nothing given to her to set it off, to not have readings of synthetic or another’s pheromones in her blood.
She had trapped herself into always having to do this to herself by her own pheromones, because if she accused anyone of doing this to her, obviously she’d know who it was, and that would be asked of her and the one she named would be alpha ordered for the truth. Outing the lie in full and see she did it to bring harm to Luna Mischa by way of not having Anthony attend to her heat.
Anthony, though, was actively documenting Christy’s heat up there in his suite, the bouts he wasn’t attending to and the reason why, where he was for them, and that Christy told him to leave the room, that she was using the drugs Brent provided for her. It seemed he hadn’t yet come to the realization that this was Christy’s third heat in six months.
She had made mention of her and Christy going into heat together now and previously, and he’d not even thought about the fact that Christy had still had her natural heat in February between the two; was oblivious to it at said moment in time, she thought.
Though he’d also written a note for Mischa’s own heat, not something he would normally do, he usually left that to Paul and herself when it was over. Though there in her own file was his recording, Heat Log: Mischa’s heat over after just one bout… it’s more than odd to me, she is on wolfen birth control to my knowledge, but just one bout only? … could it be indicative of her birth control being ineffective?
che is carrying the pack’s heir? Will have to wait and see. Something that is known to happen, and now
He’d not made any comments on what Paul had written in Christy’s pack file about his thoughts on Christy’s heat, but she knew he had to have read it all because he was documenting daily in her file.
Though he’d not talked to Mischa either over the course of the week, he was leaving her alone since that conversation at her suite. She finally thought he actually understood she meant everything she’d said over the past six months that had come to ahead in his office, and then got hit with a fully unchecked reality smack to the face on the day her heat came, and he’d seen her reaction to it.
It wasn’t just an ‘I don’t want it‘, it was a full aversion to him and his wolf. There could no longer be any doubt for him or Shade, what all that neglect had done to her and Laud. He and Shade were now bound to a Mate that wanted nothing to do with them, and didn’t care about them; yet still he’d not rejected them.
Apart of her wondered if he was going to now, that he couldn’t avoid seeing there was no way back for them. Was he just waiting for the results of her one bout of heat? Did he actually think he’d knocked her up? Who the hell knew, though she also believed he’d never let her go if she was pregnant with his pup.
She didn’t want that kind of tie to him, and if she was, and he wasn’t here to find out, she’d likely duck off to the Rising Blue Lotus and get rid of it. Didn’t think Nicholas or Lucinda would talk her out of it either. She’d already told Selena ‘No‘ on that front and had a feeling the Goddess would grant her that as well.

Though surely Anthony’s brain was ticking on other possibilities than her being pregnant as well, her own words to him when he’d come and spoken to her that first night, would actually make sense if he went back and checked her heat logs for the past two and a half year’s
Surely he now had to see that with all that had happened between them, that it could simply be the will of their Goddess to stop her heat, so she wouldn’t have to suffer it alone once more. He could even think it was the will of the Goddess for another reason, that being, to see him not have to be put in a position where he had to choose one Mate over the other, and he knew deep down that he would choose Christy once more.
Simply because he didn’t want to have two Mates to suffer the same affliction; one that he was the cause of. Not now that he’d seen it in full, felt it today himself, and struggled to deal with himself. She knew he would not want Christy to be like that with him, so he could put it down to the will of the Goddess himself, that she was saving him.
Whatever he was thinking, it was keeping him away from her, and that was all that really mattered. She’d told him to stay away, and he now actually was. Though she knew their mate bond anniversary was coming up soon, a few weeks was all. She was curious as to if he would do anything for it or not.
She didn’t particularly want to do anything about it, would let it pass just like any other day, it meant nothing to her at all anymore, just a fateful day that led to the life she now lived and was planning on
leaving.
She was in her office when Paul walked in and sat across from her. “Christy’s heat is over, lasted 8 days Mischa, almost exactly like the last one.”
“Hmm, I didn’t ask the pack doctor to set up the Luna Suite; not getting blamed for that again.” She responded, rolling her eyes.
“I’ve already requested Gillian do blood work on her, and I wasn’t the only one. Debbie has also requested it to be taken. I heard, asked Brent directly.” He smiled at her now. “I think she has her own theory, and it’s not going to be wrong,” Paul told her.
T “Hmm, used the words unnatural heat in her documentation,” Mischa nodded. “While you stated it was odd, and actually put in, it had only been 10 weeks since her natural heat occurred.’ She smiled to herself.” Also threw in there were three in six months.” She chuckled “Being the devil I see.”
“That I did,” Paul chuckled. “Thought i’d throw a spanner in the works and get everyone ticking. Including Anthony himself.” Then he sighed heavily “Although I wasn’t planning on doing that originally, Mischa, but your own reaction to your heat… I don’t think it’s wise for you to put yourself through that ever again… Your and Lauds distress was too much. So, no more trying to get Christy to self–induce her heat when you have
one.
“I’ve already gone to the Elders about it, and I told them point blankly that I don’t advise allowing Anthony to attend your next heat. I also have more knowledge on it is going to be just one bout yet again. So…” he shrugged.

Mischa huffed but nodded. “I don’t want it myself. But that will mean Christy only having two heats a year when I was looking for at least three a year! She sighed and leaned back in her chair. “If I could get her to do it again in November, it would not only be three heats a year, but always three heats in six months, Paul. “Dr. Dana confirmed officially that for every time Christy self induces a beat with her own pheromones past that first time, it will roll into becoming a real heat the following year,” she told him.
“Hmm, I understand Mischa, but it’s not good for your mental health, so I’ve kind of already started the stopping of your own Mate mating you on this one. Sorry,” he murmured.
She waved it off. “It’s fine, I don’t really want to ever feel like that again either. Thank you for putting me first even when I don’t.” She smiled at him.
He smiled right back. “I’m your friend and your Gamma, as both it’s the right thing to do. There really wasn’t any kick back from the Elders either, they’d all already read my notes. Saw it for what it was. Heard Anthony’s reaction to leaving that room, everyone in the packhouse did.” He nodded. “So believe it’s likely
for the best unless you two reconnect between now and then.”
