Mischa saw Anthony and Christy walk through the packhouse, she was finally coming downstairs after that heat cycle. Christy was walking with her hand through Anthony’s arm as if she was his Luna. Though she didn’t see the girl’s face, or hear them speak to each other, she did note that his strides weren’t as long as normal.
Seen to be slower as well and Christy looked to be walking a little stiltedly, ‘still sore from all the days of constant mating.‘ Laud told her.
‘Serves her right, Mischa commented, and turned back to her work. She deserved it as far as Mischa was concerned, then her eyes moved back to Christy once more, ‘I wonder Laud… what would happen if we mind–linked to her about what we know she did to herself.
Laud snorted ‘Can’t claim we threatened her because that would out herself. Amusing to think about.
‘That it is.’ She murmured and leaned back in her chair as that she–wolf walked out of sight. She could play that card, the I know what you did card. But she also wanted to see what she was going to do. It was likely
Anthony had told Christy that Mischa’s heat was over at some point. Maybe even the very day she’d told him to, though he’d not documented anything of the sort.
Christy was going to have to be concerned that Mischa was indeed pregnant solely just from how short her heat was, even if she had to look it up herself, which if Anthony didn’t say anything then that was likely what she would do to try and figure it out herself.
She was in her office an hour later when Anthony walked into it from the foyer. “Christy’s heat is over, and she’s in the pack hospital,” he told her.
“You can document that. That is not my concern.” She stated right back without even looking at him. “I also don’t need to know anything about what you and her do,” Mischa added. “You should know this by now, so why bother telling me anything at all about her.” she finally looked up at him, “But just for your information, in case it got past you previously, I don’t need not want to know anything about that she–wolf.”
He sighed as he looked at her, he didn’t like, she didn’t think, her dismissing his other pate so blatantly or having no concern at all for her. When he was bound to her, “That is not what ! am doing… I know that her heat was once again here, and out of the blue.
“Once again, it has unexpectedly happened at the same time as yours. So, I’m here to let you know that I have requested that she have blood work done. Took her there myself to have it run,” Anthony told her as if he thought explaining himself would help.
He still didn’t see it, she realized. That Christy’s heats were suddenly now coming when Mischa’s did, that this was just another way of Christy trying to take what was Mischa’s. That his beloved Christy hated Mischa enough to find a way to even eclipse her heats.
She just stared at him, then shook her head slightly and said, “You may do as you please, Anthony, where that she–wolf is concerned, I do not care.” She reiterated her stance, “Don’t bother informing me of the

results, Alpha; they’ll likely just be exactly like the last time.” She sated dismissively knowing full well they would be exactly the same as the last ones.
“Investigate it if you like, that is complètely up to you. I don’t care to get involved with anything to do with her. I will no longer even so much as try to be her Luna, and do things out of concern for her. That boat has sailed for me.
“I did try for a long time, even after she was injured by you, when you flung her at my desk, noticed she was injured and told you to take her to the hospital, showed my concern.. Christy doesn’t want me as her Luna, so I will not be. If she falls down the stairs, gets hit by a car, or is injured on the training ground. I will not so much as mind–link to Brent. Because the last time I did that, what did it get me?
“Her insinuating I harmed her, or you snapping at me over my asking how she was; remember when she fell into the canyon… that reads between the lines as if you were insinuating I harmed her. I wonder, at times, what she said to you out there…” She shook her head “To make you think that… yet both times I was nowhere near her. Was in fact with you or in the office next to you was I not. So, as I’ve made myself plainly clear before, don’t bring her or anything you do with her up to me… Unless, of course, she accuses me of doing this to her once more, setting off her heat, and you’re here to ask me if I did? Did she? Are
you?” She put right there to him how little faith she had in him, for not only him to hear but her unit, who
were all in here as well.
“No.” Anthony shook his head. “That is not why I am here at all and, like you said, how could she accuse you when you were…” he trailed off as he realized what he was saying, agreeing with her when six months ago he’d not and had accused her.
“Hmm, indeed.” She nodded and returned to the paperwork before her. “Yet that did actually happen last time now, didn’t it? You came in here directly after she was out of heat and in the hospital and blamed me.
”
“That was a full lapse in my judgement. Due to painful circumstances, it won’t be happening again, Mischa,
Anthony told her.
”
“Hmm, I dare say only because it will see her head come off, and you…. wolf–less because it would break that vow you made, now wouldn’t it!” she told him how she saw it.
“Mischa…” he sighed heavily.
“What! If you’d not made that vow, you might just come in here and accuse me once more, because Christy implies tearfully I harmed her… I and Laud think it’s only your vow that keeps you from doing so,” she told him frankly.
“If reporting this, your having Christy’s blood work attended is the only reason you came here to speak with me, you can go. I already knew it would be. Paul and Debbie have also expressed their concerns and requested her blood work be done, documented it as well.” She turned back to her work. “A full
comparison, I believe, is to be had from November to now,” she told him.
Anthony sighed once more and then turned and walked for the door to his office.

“Oh, you should probably start speaking with Christy about Pack Luna–related things after hours, so she understands what it is you want from her on a daily basis.” Mischa smiled to herself now. “Start prepping her for when she steps up in full and i step back, so she can be your Luna in full.” She heard the amusement in her own words.
He stopped walking before he went through the door, “That is not what I want. For Christy to sit in your seat,” Anthony told her, and she could hear the frown in his voice.
“But it is what Christy wants, and we’re all well aware she always gets what she wants now, doesn’t she.” She smiled at him.
“Mischa, please, I’m trying to right things. You know this,” he muttered.
“Oh!” she looked up at him. “I’m not getting any younger and my law degree will start after the winter break. So do tell her to get her ass moving. It’s also pre–tax time, so will not be in this office but the accounting office. Where I belong as the pack’s accountant.”
She could see his jaw ticking now as she reminded him fully of what she believed he wanted her to be, what Christy wanted her to do and, of course, adding more work onto herself, so she didn’t have time to
sit here in this office all day every day.
“You’re impossible sometimes, do you know that?” he muttered.
“Yes,” she nodded. “Good luck winning against me in the future, all that legal degree will do will enhance how I think, and the way I look at things. Train me to look at something from all aspects, with a view to all

“To dig deeper into things and get to the very bottom of it, produce evidence that is seen as being beyond a shadow of a doubt.” She leaned on her desk and smiled at him, “I kind of like the idea of being a prosecutor to be honest. Getting justice for the wrongly accused, seems to be something I’m good at… don’t you think?” She stated.
He stood staring at her, hadn’t liked her last words, understood they were aimed specifically at him or his other Mate, then he just nodded. “You would make a good lawyer.” He finally spoke and then turned and walked into his office and closed the door behind himself.
She chuckled softly into her office and turned back to her job, only to have Laud snort inside her mind‘ Let’s antagonize that bitch.‘
Mischa nodded, she wouldn’t ignore her wolf’s thoughts and connected herself to Christy, ‘Did you have a nice heat?‘ she asked. ‘Overly long and aggressive once more I see, I saw you were still uncomfortable
when walking out of the packhouse.’
‘What do you want?‘ Christy bit out.
‘To wish you luck, of course, in your blood work results.‘ Mischa chuckled softly. I’m betting that they are e xactly the same as the ones in November, right down to all the pheromone markers only being yours but double your normal.’ She chuckled ‘I know you used your own pheromones to self–induce your heat

Christy, back then and now as well.
You have no proof of anything‘ Christy stated.
‘Hmm, bar the syringe you left in the bathroom with your own heat pheromone residue in it right!” she added a little fuel to the fire. She’d not gone looking for it, didn’t care to, her blood work was all the proof she really needed. ‘Are you sure now you left no evidence of your crime against me the pack’s reigning Luna?‘
‘Hmm, I wonder Christy, if Anthony told you he thinks I’m also pregnant. My heat ended early and for the past 22 going 23 years, it’s been regular as clockwork four days always, not this time. I wish you luck, of course, in getting that heir in your belly before I do. Might just be too late already! She added more fuel to that girl’s fire and closed out the mind–link.
Then she chuckled in her office and all three of her girls were looking at her. “Taunting Christy with the
truth of what she did to herself and that my heat ended early.” She told them.
