Playing Christy’s Game
She was woken up by an alert from one of the pack’s tech team, an alert that she was linked into along with Anthony, the Alpha Unit and Christy as well, that someone had hacked their way into the pack files.
It was three in the morning and never before had this happened to the pack, so only one of the pack’s security techs been awake to see it. That he’d thought it was a simple fix and had tried to sort it out for himself, only to realize that the one he’d been dealing with was a decoy and, while he’d been busy dealing with one hacker, another had used a back door to get past him.
He’d called everyone into help with it and they were doing their best. Though, strangely enough, the hackers weren’t actively stealing anything from the pack, they were just deleting pack files and records of the pack’s logs. It was more than weird to them.
She’d gotten up and walked to her study and made sure her personal laptop was switched off and not sitting in standby attached to the packs wi–fi. Thankfully, she always turned it off, and it also had a full phrase, as its password, not just a single word. And the hint for it stated ‘my favorite expression.’
She could feel the entire Alpha unit were on the move heading for the security tech lab, and she made her way downstairs only to have her mobile phone ring, and she looked at the caller ID. It was the head office tech security. She sighed to herself it was likely Anthony and his unit weren’t carrying their phones.
She answered it. “Tell me.” was all she stated.
“I can’t reach the Alpha or his unit. Luna, we’re being hacked, the servers at the head office are under threat.”
“Same here in the pack,” she stated, “a co–ordinated attack in other words. What are they touching or trying to get? … their deleting pack files here inside the pack, not stealing anything from what Deisel said.”
“It’s random and I don’t think they’re after anything specific, just kind of hitting anything. It almost feels like it’s a game to me, one of lets see who’s better.”
“Keep working at it, I’ll inform the Alpha and the tech team. Track what you can.”
“Trying to, but the minute we get close, they shut down and another pops up, kind of like what we did to test the system when it was up and running, to see where it could be hacked and how. It’s more than odd. Ask the Alpha if he set up a test of the firewall, without telling us.”

“Alright, I’ll get back to you.” Mischa nodded and was headed for the pack’s tech department when the entire pack went dark. She stopped walking because it was unexpected, and though she could still see because Laud was up inside her mind, she wondered what had happened. She’d never seen the pack go completely dark before.
She shook it off and continued on her way. By the time she got to the security tech office, it was full of people. Dereck and Paul weren’t there, she asked, “What happened?”
“I had Paul and Dereck go and cut the power to the pack at the substation,” Anthony commented.
“You’ve got bigger problems than here; the head office servers are also under attack right this minute,” she stated, “I got a call; you’re not carrying your phones.” She commented,
Though even as she spoke, she could see they were all dressed in just pants, woken from sleep much as she had been. “I was asked to ask you if you’re running a test on the server’s firewalls?” she asked.
“We’re not.” Anthony muttered and held his hand out to her. She knew it was for her phone. She pressed her finger on the screen to unlock it and accessed the phone log, hit redial and handed it to him. Then turned to Kendrick, “How much was deleted?”
“Unknown at this point, it doesn’t really make any sense,” Kendrick muttered. “We cut the power to shut everything down, is the quickest way to do that.”
“Who do you think it was?” Diesel asked.
“Could be anyone of the pack’s rivals.” Kendrick answered “Though deleting files, that doesn’t really help them with anything or set us back either. They can all be recreated and set up within a few weeks, after finding out which ones are missing.”
Mischa leaned on the desk in there and thought about that very thing. It was something that had never happened before. “Why now?” she asked more to herself than anyone else in this room, and she saw many sets of eyes turn on her.
“That is the other question to ask,” Kendrick murmured. “Nothing out of the ordinary has happened of late.” He moved his eyes to Anthony talking to the head office security. “Not even out there, we’ve not bid against any rivals, not even come across one in the past few months. Things aren’t like the old days.”
She did know that, only true hatred from one pack to another saw pack take–overs of other Alphas coming into a pack to claim what didn’t belong to them. There was less and less of full aggressive in–person take overs, but they still did happen at times out there.
“Should we be prepping for an all–out attack?” she asked. “Could this be a distraction

technique. See you all leave and head for the head office.”
“Hmm, it’s possible.” Kendrick muttered and ran a hand through his hair. She knew those words she’d spoken made him think about Letti and her safety. “I’ll link to the border patrol to have them be extra diligent.”
She watched him do so and looked at Diesel, “How long’s the pack going to be without power?”
“Not long 20 or so minutes, just the reboot phase is all. I wouldn’t normally do it at all, Anthony ordered it. We just likely lost all traces of who they are because he pulled the plug on the internet as well.” He sighed and shook his head.
“In this day and age, we don’t need to do that, keeping them online is the best way to track them down. Find out who they are and deal with them legally as well.” He murmured. “But I have to follow the Alpha’s Orders. He wasn’t concerned about finding out who it was, just stopping the deletion of pack files. That’s done now. You said head office was under attack
as well?”
“Yes.” She nodded.
“That is a whole other matter. He can’t shut the serves down, it’ll cause more problems, is I dare say he’s being told they’re isolating and containing the breached servers, the internet will be disconnected from only the affected servers. They’re likely running those servers in a controlled environment in the hope of finding out what exactly the hackers want.” He nodded
“He’ll also have to go and make a public statement about being breached, and why they were. If it’s not pack related, that is. If there is a loss to the stocks and the company loses money, the shareholders will want an explanation,” Diesel told her.
She could only wait it out. “All patrollers are aware and alert. Nothing out of the ordinary has been seen by any of them,” Kendrick stated, and sounded a bit on the relived side. She smiled a little, he was a good Beta likely got them on their toes.
She was still there when the lights came back on. Though Anthony and his unit headed off after he’d ended the phone call and handed back her phone to go into the head office; he had much to do now.
She watched as the wi–fi was reset. As it connected to many things in the pack, and they waited to see if anyone was going to start up a new attack, there was nothing and Diesel and his team were checking everything. “It appears they’ve ended it,” he stated, and leaned back in his seat. “We’ll stay vigilant go on back to suite Luna”
She nodded. “Do you know what pack files were targeted?”

“That will be hit–and–miss. Best you go to your office, and bring up the pack file list, scroll through it and see who is not there. That was not something I or the team have ever prepped for so..” he shrugged. “Going to be done the long way until we create a quicker way, and we’ll work on creating a program that can monitor that.”
She nodded and left their office. She was headed to her Luna’s office when she came across her own unit. They were all up and dressed now, “What do you need us to do, Mischa?” Letti asked.
“We need to compile a list of all the pack’s members and, then print out the pack file names on the system, to see who was deleted from it, and start all new files. We can divide it up, newborn’s to teens. Then by rank, omegas, regular warriors, elite warriors, and then the ranked members, and leadership.”
“We could use more people. The other Luna’s,” Carol commented.
Mischa nodded and then stopped walking as she realized something, she’d not seen Christy at all. This was considered a pack–wide attack, yet she was nowhere to be seen. Her brain was ticking now. She’d told Christy she could send all the information on what she’d done to the Wolfen Council; that when it all came to light it would be her own downfall.
Her unit were looking at her sudden stopping, she shook it off. “A thought has occurred to me is all,” she motioned for them to move on; She sat down at her desk tuned on her computer and logged in, accessed her own file or tried to. It was gone. She leaned back in her chair, and shook her head as she thought about all she’d said to Christy and this very sudden and unexpected event.
She checked Anthony’s file. It was still there, then she accessed all the units‘ files one by one. Kendrick and Paul’s pack files were gone like hers was. Dereck’s was there in full, but Christy’s appeared to be only half there. The last entry for her file was back in May of the previous year, so a full year had been stripped from her file.
Letti, Carol and Rebecca’s files were all good. Debbies file was half gone. The last thing recorded back in August, Mays was completely gone, Simone’s was there in full. Allen’s was fine, Ray’s was fine, but Harvey’s was gone in full.
She thought about it, anyone that would have documented anything to do with all that had happened over the past six months regarding herself and Christy had either been deleted in full or partially deleted.
She saw it for what it was. Christy had found someone to hack the system and get rid of what she believed was all the evidence Mischa could send to the Wolfen Council about all she’d done. It wasn’t a half bad plan she supposed, only Christy didn’t know she was documenting by hand in her Luna’s diary, so it wasn’t going to save her ass.

It took a day to sort out the mess, and 43 files were either deleted or half deleted. Whoever had done this had thought about how to make it seem as if it wasn’t just targeting Christy’s crimes. 3 newborns, 10 teens, 16 warriors, 7 omegas. The other 7 were herself, the units and elders.
Everything was back up and running and the attack on the head office had stopped to
coincide with what happened in the pack, and nothing eventuated from it. The company didn’t lose anything at all. Those hackers weren’t trying to steal company secrets or bring down the company itself.
Which only confirmed for Mischa that Christy was indeed trying to get rid of evidence and nothing more. A week passed and the clean–up of the serves was done, and everything was back to normal. Christy had done nothing out of the ordinary, had expressed her concern to Anthony for many to hear, and then just attended her Luna Lessons as she was required to.
