The Eclipsed Life of Luna Mischa (by Jennifer Francis) novel Chapter 147

Anthony was with his unit about to head off to that Annual Alpha Meeting in the Kingdom and Christy had been there outside the front of the packhouse to see him off, while Mischa hadn’t even bothered to show up to say goodbye.

She’d, in fact, been in the pack hospital and had kind of gone out of her way to make sure she was busy, attending a Luna Blessing, for a pup that was born in the wee hours of the night. It had been a somewhat difficult birth, and Brent had linked her that the shewolf was tired and asked her if the blessing could wait until she got some rest.

Mischa had agreed and made the time to go and do it when she knew Anthony and his unit would be leaving the pack. Now, as she returned to the packhouse, Anthony and his unit were still here inside the pack, hadn’t yet left.

They were all standing together having a moment with their arms around their Mates before they had to leave, knowing they’d be gone for a week or more depending on how it went in the Kingdom. Mischa walked by as if it was of no consequence to her, where once she would have been just like them, and she could feel his eyes on her but didn’t stop.

That was not her place to do anymore. Though then she heard him breathe her in all deep as she walked past, and then he stepped away from his unit and followed her. She knew because she heard Christy call out to him, Where are you going?

Mischa smells different,” he been his response, and then he’d tracked her all the way into the packhouse, landing a hand on her arm, to stop her from walking and turned her to face him.

She’d watched as he’d stood looking her over, then as Shade had surfaced and smelled her, to which she’d raised an eyebrow at them and the word What?had rolled out of her.

You smell different to us.They’d spoken together, and it had made her frown for a moment, and then she’d looked down at herself, and Laud had put her own sense to their body, then told her after just a moment we’re not with pup.

It had taken her another minute to realize what was going on. She’d washed, dried and then moisturized her hands in the hospital before and after attending that Luna’s Blessing, and it was the newly acquired lotion that he could smell on her.

It scented of guava for the most part, nothing like her natural scents. She quite liked it and had approved of the change from the one that was normally bought, which was stronger in scent, and the hospital staff had asked for something softer, due to their keen sense of smell. This new moisturizer had only been in the pack for two days now.

He’d not smelled it on anyone in the pack yet was all, hadn’t been to the pack hospital since

the change over, and had taken this new smell on her as she might be pregnant. She shook off his hand and stood there with her hands on her hips staring at him, waiting for him to make a decision on what he was smelling and tyring to detect from her, which would be nothing.

I don’t get anything other than that you smell different to me,” he muttered.

Alright, she stated. If that’s all, I have to register the pup with the pack. Then I’ve got lots of work to be done.

He’d nodded and I’ll be gone

I’m aware of what’s happening in the pack. It is my job to know. She’d cut him off. Your Mate is waiting for you out there by your car. Best you go and spend time with her Alpha,” she told him, keeping to full formalities, as she walked away from him.

I’ll miss you, Mischa,” he’d called out.

She’d rolled her eyes but said nothing, because he hadn’t done anything about Christy’s blood work, blipped over it as she’d expected him to. His choice was now clear to her, and so was hers to him. He’d left the pack after that, headed for the closest portal to Nightingale, which was at their local Wolfen Council.

She’d found Carol and her girls in her office not long after that, and they’d all chuckled and Letti had told her, Christy is fuming down there, she asked Anthony if you were pregnant with the heir to the pack, and he looked at her and stated point blankly, That is none of your business, Christy. When Mischa and I have the heir to the pack. Stay out of it.’ Then he got in the car without even hugging her goodbye.

Paul stated as he got into the car, Mischa feels different to me as well, Anthony.’ And Christy’s fists balled at her sides and she stalked off into the packhouse as we.Carol chuckled. Played at being excited for you, I stated I bet he’ll have your good genes and look young and youthful always.

Rebecca laughed softly. “We were following Christy, and I stated he’s already got a name. I know Mischa and Anthony planned it long ago. Jasper for a boy and Jasmine for a girl.

Mischa raised an eyebrow at them and shook her head at Rebecca. “I would not choose either of those names.

I know, I just want to see what she does with them. Will she start talking to Anthony about naming their children that.Rebecca smiled. I bet she will, and when he nods along with it, because most Luna’s do get to name their children. Christy will think he’s giving his and her children you’re his children’s choice for names.

That you’ll be ticked off or upset about it, see it as just one more betrayal from him to you, where he puts her first and takes something from you and gives it to her. That she’s again found another way to eclipse you.”

Surely that would also annoy her to, at the same time, naming her heirs after names you picked out.” Carol laughed. I wouldn’t want that, but I can see where Rebecca is going with it. If Christy thinks Anthony has always wanted to name the heir to the pack’s Jasper or Jasmine,

Regardless of it being your and his choice for the name of your child, in her mind that will see her think Anthony would see their child as being the heir, because it is the name he wanted for the actual heir to the pack, so to speak. I’d also be willing to bet she’ll say Alpha Jasper, isn’t it good and strong?

Anything is possible,Mischa nodded. “You’re all plotting I see.

Hey, Paul started it,Carol smiled at her, though on a serious not Mischa, this could put you in danger.”

Mm, it could, I suppose. But I don’t think she’s going to do anything without solid evidence first. She shook her head. That shewolf has too many eyes on her right now. That blood work came back, as you know, the same, and the Elders are aware of what she did. I simply asked them to stay out of it. They agreed.”

Oh, you didn’t tell us that.Letti frowned.

I’m aware. They came to me, and you all already know. She shrugged.

Half the damned pack is going to know soon by the sounds of it and call for her head.Letti nodded, Is that your aim?

No. I’m just waiting for August and November to come round is all. I’ll start my law degree after the winter break. Don’t ask what university I’m not aware of, which one at this point. Alpha Nicholas is arranging everything. He’ll get back to me likely when the admissions phase is due to start.

What made him think you smell different?Rebecca asked.

The new moisturizer at the pack hospital, I approved a change of it and that happened two days ago. Got a nice soft Guava scent to it. Not so clinical, made by a wolfen company and not a human one, tailored to our sense of smell, I suppose you could say,” she told them.

“And he just didn’t notice that.Letti frowned.

Hmm, I suppose not. I know Christy has got him using tailored products very similar to her

own. I don’t really use any, so anything on me that’s not considered something he would recognize as normal, and could be seen as I’m pregnant to him, I guess. She shrugged.Laud assures me we’re not.

They’d gone off to attend to other duties they had around the pack, while she’d worked here in her office. It was later on that day during her afternoon tea walk, that she sidestepped Christy as that shewolf tripped up the stairs. Mischa was about to walk down, her hand snapped out as if to grab on to Mischa, and she missed and fell down completely.

What are you doing now?Mischa asked, Trying to make me tumble down the stairs and lose the heir to the pack I might or might not be carrying?

No, I simply tripped up them.Christy muttered and got herself up. I was hoping you’d save me from falling over is all; most would.”

That be wishful thinking on your part, if you tripped and fell into the canyon at the highest point and were going to fall to your death, and I was there to see it, and you reached out for me to save youDo you honestly think I would?Mischa shook her head.

Christy’s eyes turned on Mischa wide, at her blatant statement that she’d let her die without batting an eyelid. Oh, poor Christy, do you think, I’m so soft that I’d save you, my enemy within the pack.she snorted You’d be wrong on that, regardless you’re Anthony’s Mate, I would stand there and watch you go splat,

I’d probably just shake my head and walk off, not even report it,” she told this shewolf exactly how it would go. Don’t think for even a single second I can’t see through you and your schemesJust ask me the question you want to knowOr better yet, ask your Mate when he comes back from the kingdom.

And see if he thinks it’s any of your business if I’m carrying the heir to the pack,” she stated, knowing full well that Anthony had already told her it was none of her business. Oh wait, my Luna’s unit has already told me what he said about that. It’s none of your business.
