Mischa laughed and walked down the stairs, got to the landing below, but then stopped and turned to look up at a still annoyed looking Christy, “What will you do if I am pregnant with the pack’s heir? You know how that will affect Anthony. The scent I’ll put off will draw him to me, and his instincts to protect me will kick in real hard.
“I wonder Christy what that will do to your fragile bond that’s only put back together because of the heat you just had. Will anything I see or mention in passing that I feel could be a threat come into play?” She smiled at that she–wolf. “How will you handle that if he suddenly turns on you, wants to have the truth ordered from you yet again… Will you survive that, I wonder?
“Are you already trying to get rid of it, of me perhaps? Is that what this here is you trying to push me down the stairs?” She smiled. “I could see what you’ve just done as doing that, and call the Elders to investigate you,” she laughed softly. “I think you’ll find yourself getting lashed and on that shaming post.
“If you are trying to get rid of the pup I’m possibly carrying but no one knows if I am, let me tell you, that’s still considered treason because of your intent, even if I’m not, it’s your intent that will see your head come off. Anthony’s currently not here to save you. So…” she snorted. “Now’s not the time to play your games, when you have no backing at all.
“How many in this pack do you think would come to your defense? I haven’t seen any other than Anthony himself, so I don’t think it will be that many. And only a high ranking would count. It’s not going to be my Luna’s Unit. You’ve alienated all of them one by one. When you should have been endearing yourself to them, seeing as you want everything I have.
“How are you going to be the only Luna if the Luna’s unit doesn’t want to help you? My work gets done efficiently because I have them. I guess you’ll be all alone in that Luna’s office when I step aside and your 40–hour working week will be a real struggle for one that hates having to do anything.
“Oh and as for harming me or my pup… I’ve prepped for any sudden and unexpected accidents, if something happens to me with Elder May. She’ll be in charge of the investigation and Simone will retake the seat while I’m not in the seat. How’d it feel to be on the receiving end of her hit?” She smiled big.
“I hear everything that goes on in this pack even when I’m not here, because the Luna’s unit messages me… Oh, and so does the Alpha Unit. Do any of them message you at all? Are you friends with them?
“And if I suddenly disappear or die… do you think I haven’t got plans in the works for that investigation? Alpha Gretta of the Wolfen Council will be notified, and they’ll come and

investigate you.” She chuckled softly, “Do you really think I would tell anyone that I went to the Wolfen Council with my suspicions about what you did?
“And now, after this heat you just had, I have proof of what you did. Remember how I changed my plans at the last minute and didn’t get on that plane and come home, went off grid and told no one where I was… she saw Christy stare right at her now, and she could see that she was thinking about everything Mischa was saying.
That she–wolf couldn’t even go and find out. If she did, the Wolfen Council would want to know why she was asking them questions about what her Alpha Mate’s other Luna was speaking to them about, and when she couldn’t come up with a plausible lie, they’d investigate her themselves. She’d either not leave the council grounds if Christy was stupid enough to go to one, or just come right to the pack to ask not only Christy but Anthony and herself questions as well.
“Do you really think I was in another pack or did I go and take what I already had to the Wolfen Council… You’re currently playing with fire inside this pack; do you want to burn the council bridge as well? I’m not dumb Christy, I told you before to up your game, I have.” She smiled. “So I’d think really hard about what that shriveled up grey matter of yours is concocting…
“Excuse me!” Christy gasped at the insult.
“Oh, sorry, that just means your brain is aging rapidly, due to your stupidity. As much as your looks are, you’ve got a few wrinkles, I now see. I dare say Christy, Selena is punishing you for not abiding by her will, as this pack does. You’re aging by the day; I’m twice your age and look much younger than you do.
“Not a skerrick of make–up on me, yet you.” She waved a hand at her. “Cake it on to make yourself look younger.” She snorted “Harming your Mate’s bond with his other mate is backfiring on you. Just one more ramification of your own stupid actions.” She looked right at her for a long moment as Christie’s eyes widened at her words.
“Oh, hadn’t you realized that’s what it was, aging you. You really should read more on our own Kind and things that affect our aging or stopping of it,” she laughed. “At the rate you’re going, you’ll look older than my real age within just a year or two. I wonder if that will see Anthony’s attentions wander from you.
“Oh, speaking of your Mate… I also told Anthony what I thought you might do if I got pregnant before you did. I told him point blankly: You hate me enough to try and harm me or get rid of the pup. He frowned but said nothing… his brain cells appear to be on the way back to some semblance of normality.
“Whatever hold you had over him is diminishing by the day, just like your not so pretty face

anymore, I feel. So, I wish you luck if something happens to me while he’s gone or here.” Mischa smiled at her. “Go ahead and try and let’s see if he has one mate or two when he comes back in a week or so.”
Then she placed her hand on her lower abdomen the way that Christy always did when she was trying to make the pack think she was carrying Anthony’s pup. “It’s treason to even think about harming the pack’s heir.” She stated and then turned to walk off.
“You’re not pregnant, Chrisy called out. “I got nothing.”
Ah, so she really wasn’t trying to push her down the stairs, she’d been trying to lay hands on her to feel for a heartbeat, seeing as she couldn’t pick anything up. Mischa stopped and stated over her shoulder.
“Hmm, it’s only early, Christy and Anthony and I would be the only ones to know if I was. Do you think he’d tell you if I was with pup? Knowing he isn’t here to protect it from you, after I put my thoughts on the matter to him.” she fed more into that statement he told Christy just this morning about it being none of her business. “You’re also not my Mate.
“So, you can’t pick up that other scent either, and you’re only a mid–class warrior, they don’t pick up heartbeats until a she–wolf is a month or more along.” Mischa smiled and walked
down the rest of the stairs.
She’d put that she–wolf in her place, let it be known that if anything happened to her or the pup, it would be on her head that the Elders, or the Wolfen Council, would be coming for her. Though that was a lie on Mischa’s part, there was no way for Christy to find out without incriminating herself, and she wasn’t going to do that.
She also knew that own Mate would also turn and look at her if he’d just picked up, she was pregnant, and something happened to her while he was away, something he couldn’t avoid at all. His trip was mandatory. She didn’t care to tell Christy what she was up to because for that she–wolf to investigate it, she’d have to use others and that would be seen as she was investigating the actions of the pack’s reigning Luna and would bring the Elders down upon
her.
She also couldn’t accuse Mischa of doing anything she’d just stated that would be seen as offensive and the Elders would investigate the matter, and find out why she was, which in full would be to see if Mischa had gone to the Wolfen Council and told them what Christy had done.
Alpha Gretta also had this information, so it wasn’t a lie, only the part about her dying and them being informed was a lie. Though even as she thought about that, Anthony would have to take her off the pack’s registered leadership form with the Wolfen Council so they would be informed, likely he’d have to write the reason or tick a box as to what happened, rejected

or dead, she supposed.

For all Mischa knew, Gretta could have that flagged now, so she’d be notified or Alpha Dennis
was.
Mischa had nothing to fear or to lose, she’d let it all go and would be gone from this pack, likely by mid–January if not before. Christy, on the other hand, had everything to lose. She’d already lost much, trust and respect of the pack and its elders. Seemingly the full and complete trust of Anthony himself.
She saw that from just the way he’d told Christy that it was none of her business if Mischa was pregnant. Normally, that would be joyous news to share with everyone. But he’d declined to tell Christy of his own volition.
The seeds of doubt had been planted by her, and it seems now, with all that she–wolf had done over the course of just the past few months, they’d sprouted inside Anthony’s mind, and as much as he’d chosen Christy over her officially now. He was likely always going to suspect her deep down if anything happened to Mischa.
She wondered if she could use that to her advantage. She’d have to ponder on that one, and had time to do so, seeing as he wasn’t here inside the pack.
