The Eclipsed Life of Luna Mischa (by Jennifer Francis) novel Chapter 150

CH 150

The rest of the time Anthony was away in the kingdom; was very peaceful for her. Christy didn’t come near her once, simply stayed in her room when not attending to Luna Lessons. Her posts on the pack’s social media page had also stopped right after that cyberattack on the pack, and Christy’s little trip to the lake.

It seemed that if Anthony wasn’t in the pack she had nothing to post about at all, Mischa was too busy to do any posting. She was still pulling Luna Duties alongside being the pack’s accountant, and her days were long, and she worked 14 to16 hours a day some days. She was crashed out and asleep the moment her head hit the bed.

She knew the moment Anthony returned to the pack, he connected a mindlink to her to tell her he was home. She’d acknowledged it with a simple Alright. And dropped the link. Because she was unconcerned about him being back and had way too much on her plate to really care.

She even knew he was on his way back because her unit were happy to know their Mates were coming home today. Had told her they’d all gotten a text that they were back in the human world at the Wolfen Council and would be home soon. Her phone was on silent right now, because she was busy and didn’t want to be interrupted.

She also wasn’t going to do what she’d always done for the entirety of their mate bond and go and greet him on the packhouse steps. She didn’t consider it important to her at all. Also knew that Christy would be there and that the tech team would also be waiting to give him that report about another attack coming to the pack.

She’d had them fire off an sss to him about the restoration of the pack’s files, and she’d dropped on his desk a manila folder that contained what she expected of him and his unit when they were back; them rewriting the notes they could recall, and she’d placed a list of the affected pack files for them to see, and not have to search for which ones needed redoing.

There was the new pack policy she’d instated and was fully signed off on by two Elders, where the USBs she wanted were concerned, and what was to go on them; what she’d not stated to the pack was that there was a USB labeled Pack Crimes and Punishment. In that safe of hers.

But it was in the file she’d left on his desk, and she had already sorted it out. Had accessed the pack files account and done an advanced search with Simone for the words pack crime, pack punishment, lashes and cells.

Anything that had come up had been copied over to the USB with Simone right there to cosign the copying of them. Nothing was edited, just transferred over was all. His crimes

were on it, as were Christy’s up until that restore point that was. So, everything in November was accounted for. The Elders had accessed and recreated their notes of the missing files already, everyone here inside this pack had been busy, and he could see that from the file she’d dropped on his desk when he got to it.

Usually, returning to the pack after being away for a week meant time with one’s Mate. There was no work, so she wasn’t expecting him or his unit to do anything she was requesting of them until tomorrow or even the day after. Sometimes it could mean a full night in bed and a full day of just being with one’s Mate. She wasn’t expecting that from him, though she knew Christy would be.

It was barely 45 minutes after he linked to her about being home, when he walked into her office and stood before her desk. What?she asked as she looked at him, even as she smelled Christy on him and her nose wrinkled at that shewolf’s scent in her office.

He noticed her reaction to it and looked down at himself, and she saw him realize why she’d reacted to him, My apologies, I was greeted by my other Mate.”

To be expected. She nodded. What do you want?

He frowned right at her, Mischa, you didn’t respond to my text message when I got home to the human realm. Why not?

She turned and looked at her phone sitting right there on the desk, picked it up and saw there was a message from him, and that it was unread. She shrugged. It’s on silent. I didn’t get it, busy as you can see.She indicated to all the files on another table she brought in at this time of year, it was loaded with paper for human world taxes.

I know you’re busy with pretax time, but couldn’t you spare five minutes for your Mate? Who you’ve not seen in a week.

She snorted and leaned back in her chair as she looked up at him. That was very amusing to her, that he thought she would, after all that had been said and done. What gave you the impression I would do that? Was it my not saying goodbye when you left for your meeting?she asked and shook her head.

She saw annoyance cross his face, and then he stated, Dinner?

No thanks,she answered.

Please,he offered.

Why?she asked. She didn’t get it, his need to have dinner with her. If you want to smell me to find out if I’m carrying the heir to the pack, just do it here, though I can tell you I’m not.she informed him, and she wasn’t.

She watched him do just that, look her over and smell her, and he frowned. You smelled different when I left.

Hmm, did I? Or was that the new moisturizer lotion in the pack’s hospital? Any you mistook that for something else is all. My birth control was effective.

He nodded slowly as he realized she was telling the truth, and he smelled nothing different about her. Dinner?he asked once more.

I’m certain Christy will want to have that with you, so go do that, she told him simply.

She does, offered for the three of us to sit down together and have a meal,” Anthony replied.

Did she now?Mischa murmured thoughtfully, I’m not interested in doing that, and I don’t know why you would ask me to either. She shook her head.

She is trying to be better Mischa, to change her ways. Even stood by the packhouse doors and didn’t rush down to me, in case you came and wanted to greet me first. Trying to show you respect, by letting you, my first Mate, come and greet me before her. Not get between us.

Good for her,Mischa nodded. I’ll start to believe it when she can pull it off for a solid six months, actually believe it if she can do it for a year.” She smiled. How about that?” she

offered.

Mischa!

What? I’m open to giving her the benefit of the doubt, or can’t you see that? That’s all I’m willing to do, because her track record isn’t so good. A few weeks or a month, maybe at best, of her being a normal, nonselfish, narcissistic bitch where I’m concerned, she stated for him to know how she felt.

His eyes widened at her blatant insult to his other Mate; she was actively pushing his buttons to see what he’d do with her new stance and not holding her tongue. Surely, he had to have a limit as to how much he could put up with, before rejecting her or losing his temper at her, something he’d also said he wouldn’t do on both accounts.

He stood staring at her. His jaw was ticking, and she smiled at him. Itching to snarl mewant to reject me.” she offered up and leaned forward as if anticipating it.

No,” he muttered, and turned and walked across her office to leave.

It could save you all that irritation and annoyance you’re feeling right now,” she told him.

He stopped walking at her door and she saw one of his fists ball tightly at his side, and she nearly laughed. This was going to be fun for her, she realized. He turned and looked at her

more than amused expression, and that jaw ticked even more. No, I know this.” He waved a hand at her demeanor, It’s just your affliction and nothing more,” he stated, though she could hear the controlled tone of his voice as he held back that annoyance and anger he was clearly feeling.

Are you sure?she smirked. One can’t always tell what another is thinking.

He was gone from her office with a bang of her door and she laughed into her office and shook her head. He’d come in here and asked her the stupidest question there was, her having dinner with him and Christy? As if.

And as for Christy turning over a new leaf, yeah right, what she’d done out there on the front steps of the packhouse was to just show him what she wanted him to see, that she understood her place here inside the pack. She’d gone so far as to tell him she knew Mischa should be allowed to greet him first. That was interesting to her. Likely something Debbie had put in those Luna Lessons on purpose to show Christy that she should be respecting Mischa, and not just as Anthony’s first Mate and Luna, but likely because Mischa having reigned for so long, Christy should consider her an Elder and look up to her, but never did it.

Christy not going down and hugging Anthony. That was just making him go to her and hug her which would show the pack he wanted to. Had missed her and was happy to see her, and nothing more, and that dinner? Mischa shook her head. That was just Christy’s way of showing her that he and her were all good and rubbing it in Mischa’s face.

Maybe we should go, and see what he does, who he pays more attention to.’ Laud piped up.

I’m busy, and I don’t need him getting any idea’s Laud.’ She answered her beast, Do you?

No, just want to annoy the bitch some more, Laud commented.

Another time, besides she’s gotta come to us at some point. Hasn’t made a single post on social media since we saw her the night after that second attack on the pack. I think she chucked her phone in the lake or maybe just the sim card to get rid of the evidence. If she wants a new one, she has to fill out that request form and submit it to me. To which I’m going to ask her why? What happened to the one she’s got? Let’s see her explain that.’

She’ll tell Anthony she lost it, and he’ll just buy her a new one without thinking about it. See no reason for that to go through you.Laud told her, and as Mischa thought about that, she knew her wolf was probably right, but she’d wait and see.
