The Eclipsed Life of Luna Mischa (by Jennifer Francis) novel Chapter 151

Part 4: It’s Time To Go

The Elder Lunas play their own Ace

The months passed with her sitting in her accounting office, doing not only the human world taxes but then sorting out the Wolfen world ones as well. The wolfen taxes were, however, much easier to do because of the way she’d set the system up for it, and because the money was already in a separate account.

All the pack members that worked, whether it be here or in the human world, submitted the required 10% of their weekly, fortnightly or monthly pay into an allocated super savings account owned by the pack, and so it grew exponentially, as did the interest it accumulated over the year, which she tallied up and withdrew from that account the day before she was to send the payment.

She put all that accumulated interest into the pack’s central funds account for packrelated repairs and upgrades, and what was left over was the amount to be paid as wolfen taxes. It wasn’t a small amount, and it was sent to her local wolfen council with a copy of the pack’s endofyear financial income.

Sometimes they even got a refund from the kingdom. If the pack’s main business was seen as running at a loss or nearly at a loss, the taxes usually got sent back, and she redistributed the money back to the pack members as a refund as well. That wasn’t going to happen this year, she didn’t think, from what she could

see.

She’d finally gotten it all done, and it was the 1st of August. She watched the clock tick over to one minute past midnight and leaned back in her chair and smiled to herself, two solid months of hard yards, as she liked to call it.

She’d barely left her office, and both May and Simone had been pulling Luna Duties for her with her unit, and she’d only stopped to go and attend the packs Luna Blessing of pups born into the pack. That was something she loved doing and chose to always continue, even at this time of the year, it gave her a break from sitting at her desk.

Anthony had left her alone, though been more than annoyed with her on one occasion, a mating ball had happened inside the pack for the July full moon, and she’d not only not done the ineetandgreet, when he’d asked her to be on his arm for their allied packs to arrive.

She’d told him with a smile, Christy could do it. That it was technically her turn. She’d done it for the last

one.

She’d also told him she was too busy to with the pack’s taxes, so not to expect her to spend those three days sitting around looking like his perfect Luna. She’d also not attended the Alpha dinner that was held on the first night, refused to go and attend it because if he only wanted her to be a Luna on paper, then that was all she would be.

She’d not set foot in the Luna’s office once since his return from the Kingdom. Simone was currently sitting in there, but she’d heard Simone had also set a place for her next to him at that dinner, as was

protocol. For Anthony to sit with both bis Lunas.

Only she’d not turned up for it, and his allies had asked him where she was, and commented that she’d not been there for the meet and greet. Alpha Nicholas and his Beta Jeremy were in attendance as well. She’d gotten his message about it and told him she wouldn’t be attending this one.

He’d texted Oh, that will be fun for me

She’d responded, Likely so, knowing how you hate Christy as much as ! do. Enjoy your time here when you get here.

C

I’ll take that as I can be a devil

To which he’d sent several emojis depicting what he thought, and laugh my ass off, I know Jere’s will be in on it, mischief is in his blood.”

And she’d sent back a laughing emoji

She’d then gotten the rundown of what he’d done at that dinner later that night. Where Jeremy asked in front of all the allied in a casual way as he’d eaten his meal, why she wasn’t at the dinner, that he’d never seen her miss one in all the times they’d been allied and there was a place set for her.

Then, after Anthony had stated she was working it was tax time, Nick had asked directly if they were at odds, before all in that room as well, which had turned all eyes on Anthony curiously.

None had ever seen him and her at odds, and her not doing the meet and greet had been explained as it was simply Christy’s turn to do that, but Mischa not attending the pack dinner, which he’d mindlinked to

her about and asked her when she was coming. When she’d not been standing there with him and Christy, waiting for the allied to come and take their seats.

She’d simply told him she wasn’t going to be there, that she was too busy with the taxes. He had told his allies, no, she’s just busy this time of year. Only to have Nicholas state, She’s usually at the July mating ball, it’s odd to me that she’s not here.Again, kind of refuting him.

She’d then been seen walking through the pack not long after dinner had finished, by not only Anthony and his unit, and Christy but all their allies, as she’d been seen stroking along, sipping on an iced caramel latte. chatting to one of the pack’s teens. She’d not even looked at Anthony or acknowledged him as she’d walked on by, just like she’d not done so for the past two months, which actually spoke volumes to their

allies.

Only to have Nicholas call out, Mischa, there you are.A full smile in his voice.

She’d turned and looked at hirn, smiled. Nick, Jeremy. She’d addressed him in a friendly manner. It’s good to see you.and they’d walked over to speak with her, joined her on her walk, with that teen chatting about the opening of the teen’s canyon. There was a full celebration day to happen, and they’d been discussing the team sports day they were going to hold.

Not acknowledging Anthony had shown the pack’s allies, she wasn’t at that dinner because she’d simply opted not to be there, not because she was busy. Showing he’d lied, and that she and Anthony were at odds, so much so that she wouldn’t stand or sit next to him. Even though she was still there and seen to

be with the pack members, happy and doing what all Luna’s did.

She’d also been roped into a game of volleyball the next day with a few of the teens and been seen laughing and having fun. Had even ropèd Nick and Jeremy into the game, it had been a lot of fun for her, and he packs teens as well

It appeared she wasn’t actually a Luna to this pack anymore to all of them, because she wasn’t with Anthony at any given time, only Christy was on his arm. But she was happy hanging out doing what regular pack members did; was socializing.

She’d not showed up for that mating ball that night either, to Anthony’s annoyance, considering she’d just been hanging out all day and not working, and her refusal to come when he mindlinked to her about attending it, she’d again reminded him she was too busy. To which he’d bitter, out, No you’re bloody not, spent half the day playing volleyball with Alpha Nicholas and his Beta.

I needed a break and was asked to join by Brody. I don’t deny the pack members what they want, she’d answered and cut the link. She’d then strolled out and seen Nicholas off that following morning, laughed at his car when Jeremy had waved her to look at it, and there were massive claw marks all down the driver’s side.

She knew they were curtesy of Ky’ra before Lucinda and Nick had scented each other out. That Jeremy, Kevin and Braidy would occasionally put the panels back on Nick’s truck to annoy him. It wasn’t me this time. Ky’ra did it all by herself. Snorted with amusement and fled away across the pack.Jeremy laughed, and she’d seen Nick shake his head.

“I bought a new car and Ky’ra, being naughty at times, took it upon herself to claw the hell out of it like the last one. She thought it would be funny, did it right before we left to come here,Nick had told her, and

she’d burst out laughing along with Jeremy.

Oh, she’s never going to let you forget it, Nick.Mischa had snorted. I love it.

Yes, everyone thought it was funny, but me, damned car has only been in the pack three days.Nick snook his head. Which only made her and Jeremy laugh even more.

Anthony had hunted her down in her accountant’s office the moment all the packs were gone and snapped at her, Do you know how you make me look?

She’d raised an eyebrow at him, Like Christy is your only Luna. She nodded, because, yes, she knew exactly how it looked to their allies, I’m just giving Christy what she wants, and I saw she was smiling and happy the entire time, being the only one standing next to you, she had no concerns about it.

You made me look like a fool. He’d snapped at her.

Hmm, I’m not responsible for how you feel. Your emotions and reactions to things aren’t something I can’t control. She’d stated, Did you see me getting upset about not being there next to you? I was happy, and the allies saw I was enjoying spending time with the pack. What is so wrong with that?

What they saw was you as a regular pack member, not as my Luna.He bit out.

Oh, well, I hear Christy will be doing her final Luna Lesson in just three weeks, and then she’ll be sitting in the Luna’s Office, so what is the problemI don’t understand why you’re angry with me, I was seen, and to be happy, I’m also here in my accounting office where you want rne to be, managing the pack’s funds.

She’d watched him get really angry as he’d stood there, and she’d smiled at him, waiting for him to explode, You made it look as if Christy has pushed you aside, and I allowed it, and you’re relegated to being nothing but a standard pack member. Humiliated me on purpose.”

She’d nodded because she had. But that is what happened! Do you not like it nowGiving Christy everything she wants. When that’s all you’ve done for well over a year and a half now.

He’d roared into her office, finally exploding, It’s not what I fucking want. You’re the one that thinks that. She’d nodded slowly, unphased. Why would I think thatunless you’d given me reason to?she stated simply, calmly, his anger meant nothing to her at all. She found it amusing more than anything else, and he’d noted it and not liked it at all.

Come on Alpha, I’m simply giving way to your Mate as you’ve made me do for the past year and half. Why are you so angry about it now, when I’ve simply, finally, truly accepted this is my place within the pack?she’d asked curiously.

To which he’d grated out, You’ll not do this again, it is expected of you to be at that dinner and the mating ball as my Mate and Luna.”

Hmm, I’d like to see you make me,” she’d stated right back. That could just be more humiliating for you when I yell at you for it in front of all your allies, or maybe I’ll just turn up but ass naked to make you send me away.she laughed Oh that could be fun for me.“/

He’d stood there and stared at her incredulously as he realized she meant it, and then just turned and banged out of the office to get away from her.

But ass naked it is.Laud snorted inside her mind.
