It was mid–October, and she was sitting in her suite when Mischa was connected to a pack–wide mind–link by Anthony, and she got the announcement like everyone else did, “I, your Alpha, have good news for you all, Luna Chirsty is pregnant with my pup. Luna Christy will officially be moving into the Alpha Suite tonight. You may congratulate her in passing over the next few days.”
Mischa just sat there with her glass of wine halfway to her lips; did it bother her?… No, she thought absently. Not even Laud reacted to the news of this event, didn’t sit up or huff, there was nothing from her beast anymore than there was for Mischa herself.
Though she put all her attention into the sensing out of the pack’s emotions on that bit of news, although Anthony had sounded happy about imparting the news to the pack, and he followed it up directly with that Christy would be moving into
the Alpha Suite, which was what he’d told the pack would happen, neither of his Mates would live within the Alpha Suite until one was carrying his pup.
So that wasn’t really a shock to her, but she was betting Christy was ecstatic about this, finally getting everything she wanted. It also didn’t surprise her that she’d gotten this news like all others either, seeing as she’d relegated herself to being the pack’s accountant.
Something Anthony had let her do because, as long as she was there in the pack, what did it matter to him in all reality? And so much for his drunk words of he’d fix them, the night her desk had been removed from
the Luna’s office.
He hadn’t once connected himself to her since Christy’s last induced heat. Though he had not come and rejected her either, even though he’d clearly made his choice. He had simply allowed her, without issue, to step down, and become his Luna on paper, to be here solely to keep the pack afloat for him and Christy
She’d been going to leave directly after her heat in November. That had been the plan, to see Christy once again self–induce her own heat, and while he was tending to Christy, she had been going to pack her things and go to the Rising Blue Lotus, but now that November plan didn’t need to be enacted at all.
Christy was already pregnant with the heir to the pack, yet Anthony was so very selfish that he still wouldn’t come to her and relinquish his claim on her. She’d waited patiently for it, thinking he’d come to his senses, and do so, or that she could force him into it.
Seems not, she’d given him many chances to reject her, since May; told him to, ignored him and shut him out completely, insulted Christy, hell insulted him to his face so many times it should have pushed him past his limit, yet still he would not reject her.
So, she would reject him and before that, heat came. She’d told the Elders she’d give him a year, and she’d pretty much done that, it was time to go and she knew it.
Misena sipped on her wine as she sat there on her balcony. She hadn’t given her congratulations, and neither did many with in the pack. Though she felt annoyance coming from quite a few of them, which meant, so could he and likely Christy as well. That amused her and Laud more than a little, because

something like this was generally considered to be a happy thing.

And the pack would normally sound off in unison; hundreds of happy, excited congratulations would come down the mind–link, the joy and happiness of the pack would be feit, and Anthony was getting none of
that.
He was announcing this to them to hear the joy and happiness about the heir to the pack finally being created and the future of the pack being set for the next generation, and yet only a couple dozen actually said, “Congratulations Alpha.”
She didn’t say it, didn’t think any traitorous she–wolf should produce an heir to a pack, it was foreboding she thought, not joyous. Mischa disconnected herself from that link before everyone else did. She knew he would feel it but didn’t care.
Even with all that she–wolf had done, he was still happy to have her earry the heir to the pack, knowing the bloodline of this pack’s lineage was surely tainted, not only by his deceitful blood but by Christy’s
traitorous blood. If that was what he wanted, then so be it.
She got up and answered the door when the bell chimed 20 minutes later and found Paul, Carol and Louise there. She stepped back and let them in and closed it behind them. “Joyous news for the pack I
go down the way he or Christy thought now, did it?”
heard.” She shook her head. “Didn’to?
“No,” Paul answered her. “He’s not so happy about the reaction to the pack either, Christy voiced point blankly. If they can’t be happy about it, they could find somewhere else to live.”
Mischa snorted, “What the hell did she expect was going to happen after all she’s done. Four heats in nine months, all she–wolves know, that is unheard of. So, she had to be inducing herself.” She shook her head. Please tell me that what she said was within earshot of pack members.”
“Hmm, there was an omega walking by. Sally head of the kitchen, she’d just closed up.” Paul nodded. “She was more than shocked by Christy’s words, and then there was anger and kind of like a feeling of ‘I’ll show you, as she walked off. She is going to reject the pack. I mind–linked to her that Alpha Nicholas of the Rising Blue Lotus will accept her if she opts to leave.
“I told her where the pack was, and she stated a very firm ‘good‘ and cut the link. I dare say she’ll be the first to leave.” Paul nodded, “Though we are here for your reaction. Your plan Mischa? It’s obviously going to change now.”
“Mm, I’m going to reject him before my heat comes. I have got two and half weeks to pack my things and sort out the one to take over my place in the accounting department. Despite my leaving, I’ve not been lax in my duties. I’ve been giving Bart harder tasks over the past four months, he’s up to the task of being the pack’s official lead accountant. I just have to choose a day to hand it to him officially.”
“Which will be when?” Carol asked. “We’ve made the collective decision to go with you.”
Mischa looked at Carol a little more than shocked, from her to Louise, who nodded and then stated, None of the Gamma bloodlines are going to stay.”

Tve also got family in Nicholas‘ pack, 30…” Caroknodded, “I’ll get to hang out with my sister, and spoil by nephew rotten. I’ll take that as a win.”
Mischa nodded slowly as she moved her eyes to Paul now, “I’ve made a few private phone calls myself to Alpha Nicholas over the course of the past three months, he’s aware I’d like to stay on as your Gamma. He has Kevin, and they all have heirs. I told him I wasn’t looking to come in and be part of the leadership, just to stand by you always.
“He was quiet for a long time and then stated, I think I’ve got a job for you, if Mischa herself will agree of course. I didn’t really understand it, but I guess he’s been planning other things behind the scenes as well.
“He’s already agreed to not only accept Carol and I, Louise as well, but all the Gamma–blooded wolves from this pack too. Seeing as no respect is given to them from the Alpha or, well, his Mate. I will not call her Luna because she doesn’t deserve to hold the title.”

“Letti and Rebecca?” she murmured.
“I’ve not heard anything from them, though Paul and I opted not to tell anyone about our leaving.” Carol answered her, “I love them as much as you do.” She sighed. “But I don’t foresee Kendrick and Dereck giving up their place and leaving with us. I think they’ll also understand considering I’m not part of the Unit anymore and Christy wants Paul replaced.”
She could understand that and just nodded. “I didn’t expect any of you too. I did ask Paul, but… I wasn’t actually expecting this.” she admitted.
“Hmm, we have been keeping that on the hushed side, only the other Gammas in the pack know at this point. They don’t feel like Christy can be trusted. Not with all they felt out there in the pack over the years of her being here. They got quite a bit over her punishments. Though Anthony assured me he wasn’t stepping me down after Louise’s documentation, that I would stay on as the Pack’s official Gamma attached to you, Mischa.”
She shook her head. “To me… he’s never going to relinquish me then?”
“No,” Paul shook his head. “It’s never once crossed his mind at all to reject you. As long as you’re here inside this pack, he doesn’t feel the pain of being separated from you. It will be you who has to voice it.” “What else is new? He’s turned into a spineless, gutless wonder,” Mischa muttered.
“Hmm, guess he’s got his parents‘ bad blood in him after all. It just took longer for it to be seen. Though when you think about it like that. We were what 22 when they were killed. If you and Anthony had, had pups early on the time, it would be pretty much the same for it to be seen, by the next generation.”
She’d not thought about it like that, but yes, she supposed it would be. “So we need a heads–up on when you’re leaving. So we know when to go,” Paul told her.
“Hmin, I’ll let you know when I know, but after that statement Christy made, let’s wait and see if Sally leaves and rejects the pack. If she does, we can use that, as she told others what she heard Luna Christy say…” She thought about it for a minute, “Louise, you go now. Just pack clothes and leave, head for the

Rising Blue Lotus. Don’t reject the pack, just let Nicholas initiate you. Do it that way,” she stated, looking at her watch. “It’s just after 10 pm.”
“I get what you’re doing, Louise nodded. “It’ll seem like I just vanished and Paul will freak out and go right to Anthony about me being severed from the pack.”
Mischa nodded “Paul?”
“I’ll play my part. Call her and ask what is going on.” He nodded.
“I’ll play the pissed–off part about hearing what Christy stated, uncaringly wanting wolves to leave the pack, and that I don’t think it’s very Lunaly of her to state such a thing.” Louise nodded, then she chuckled softly. “I’ll document one last note in my file as well before I leave about having what she said relayed to me from Sally, that she felt Christy’s statement meant she didn’t care for the pack members at all.”
“I’ll document all I felt as well in Sally’s file.” Paul nodded. “Though Carol and I will stay here for a few weeks after you leave Mischa, to see how the pack feels about it.”
She nodded. “That would be good to know.”
