She got the footage from Letti an hour later. It was sent to her private e–mail account, and had a brief message attached to it: Mischa, I see why I missed you leaving the pack. I was watching the show and preoccupied by my own amusement at what I heard, Letti.
Mischa clicked open the video file to watch, out of mere curiosity as to if her instincts had been right about Christy’s reactions to those very words she and Laud had heard Anthony state. She let it run from the moment Christy had seen her, and played it up in front of her, about being happy she was carrying the heir to the pack.
Proving Mischa was right about that Christy hadn’t changed one bit, that it was all an act to make Anthony think she was turning over a new leaf, that she portrayed this in front of everyone for months to make them think she’d become a better person.
But a narcissist could only act for so long before falling back into their old ways. She’d now gotten what she thought she’d aimed for and so no longer needed to play the part she’d assigned to herself. She’d shown her true colors the moment that baby announcement had been made, alienating the pack
members.
This moment, Mischa thought, wasn’t just designed for her but for the others that were out in the pack
foyer. Because Christy had admitted to her mistakes and sounded apologetic, told Anthony she’d apologize to the entire pack in a formal full–pack meeting.
But then had said something that made Anthony frown, called that pup in her belly, ‘the future Alpha of Night Whispers‘ and everything had changed at that one moment for Christy, as well as herself.
She watched Anthony frown deeply and then remove his hand from Christy’s belly and state, “Best, you only have girls, and that pup.” He’d pointed to her belly, “is not the heir to the pack. Only Mischa can give me a son, and only he can be the Heir to the pack.”
“W… What?” Christy had stuttered up at him, seemingly not understanding his words, even as Mischa had, had that ‘oh hell no‘ moment and turned and left the packhouse.\

“Your child with me, is not the heir to the pack, Christy,” Anthony had gone on. “It can never be. No pup we ever have can sit in the seat and become the Alpha to Night Whispers.” He’d shaken his head at her. “I told you in the very beginning, that the heir to the pack would be Mischa’s firstborn.”
“Pack law states it is your firstborn pup, that is this pup.” Christy gasped as she touched her stomach. “Mm, it does, but I also informed you point blankly not so long ago that it will be mine and Mischa’s pup that takes over the pack, not yours and mine.”
“What? I don’t recall that, when did you do this, I think I would remember,” Christy snapped, her shock giving way to her anger at what she was hearing or learning.
“Hmm, I’d have thought you would as well,” Anthony nodded. “It was when you tried to have me harm

Mischa, after that heat you had back in November. I voiced my opinion… No, my decision,” he corrected himself, “in front of the entire pack… That no pup you and I will have will ever be the heir to the pack,
“That they will always come after mine and Mischa’s, regardless of whose pup was born first or how many we had, any and all pups with Mischa would come before yours and mine.”
“No…” Christy stated, shaking her head “Mischa refused that herself, stated for all to hear if I had the firstborn it would be the heir.” She repeated all that mattered to her from that moment, Mischa supposed. The one thing she’d hung on to all this time. The leniency Mischa had seemingly given to her, but was in fact solely self–preservation on Mischa’s part, but Christy didn’t seem to know that.
Anthony nodded once more. He was awfully calm, Mischa thought as she looked at him, he wasn’t yelling at Christy, just telling her what she should already know, Mischa realized. “That she did, because she is a good kind person, who follows the pack laws to the letter and abides by the will of the Goddess. So she stated that it wasn’t right for me to take that away from you… Expressed her opinion on the matter, which was that it should remain as pack laws state.
“But, I never agreed to that… I never rescinded my words, because I’d made the decision, that was what I wanted. It was also what Shade wanted… but just to inform you and make it very clear here and now. I have also never once thought your and my pup would ever be the heir to Night Whispers, Christy…
“Mischa is my first Mate and Luna; so, it has always been her right to birth the heir to the pack. To hold the title of Mother of the Heir to the pack, Shade and I have never not envisaged our child to Mischa, as the heir and future Alpha to this pack.
“This I also know is what the pack itself wants, for mine and Mischa’s child to take over one day. So, that is exactly what is going to happen… You may have as many pups as you like, but the only pup to be trained
as an heir and take my seat, will be of my and Mischa’s blood.”
“Why?” Christy grated out. “I’m just as good as her.”
“Why?…” he asked right back, “And are you just as good as she is?” he countered her question. “Mischa has better blood than you do is why, Christy you yourself have proven that to not only me, but the Elders,
and now, after all that’s just happened.

“Your words, callously spoken about the pack; that they could leave, then your words, disrespectfully spoken, about all Gamma–blooded wolves. That you don’t want wolves like that here inside the pack,” Anthony told her, and she watched as Christy took a step back from him and shake her head.
“Gammas, Christy, are blessed by the Moon Goddess herself, with that Charm they have, and you just dismissed them as irrelevant. I wonder how Selena feels about that very thing? Do you think she’s happy
with you right now? I doubt it.
“Mischa has never, not once in her entire lifetime, spoken so disrespectfully about the pack or singled out a bloodline like you have, for your own…” he waved a hand in the air. “I don’t fucking know to be honest.” He stated, sounding exasperated to her.
“Misha is gentle and kind, loving and loyal to all. Even now, with all that has happened, she is still here in

this pack, has never once been lax in her duties, still attends to Luna Blessings, which no she–wolf in this pack has even asked you to do since you’ve been in that seat of Luna. They all request it be Mischa. Why I wonder?
“And she goes and does this because the pack comes first, knows that and doesn’t let that we are at full odds affect her job as Luna. At full odds, because of whom?… Because of you, Christy, and all that you’ve done. So, no, you are not as good as she is, likely never will be.
“Alpha Luna bonds are strong, and some can’t be torn apart, they can be fractured and feel broken, but are fixable, and with time Mischa and I will find our way back together, no matter how long it takes. Do you know why I know this? believe this, because Mischa would have rejected me if she truly wanted to. Nothing can stop one issuing rejection, it’s just her affliction, which, again, you caused.
“I will acknowledge all of your and my children, Christy, but none will ever be acknowledged as an official heir to the pack. You may have as many as you like…” He walked away from her and then stopped and turned back to her. “You are my Mate and sit in the seat of Luna, solely because Mischa stepped aside. The day she wants it back, she will have it.
“Being my Mate, Christy, that is all that saved you back then. That Selena granted you, to me, you should learn to respect the Goddess‘ Will… No child from your bloodline can ever hold the title of Heir inside this pack, due to you being deemed by the Elders as having traitorous tendencies,
“You should know this; all wolves know this, your bloodline is tainted to this pack, so, regardless that I abide by the will of the Goddess and let you stay as my Mate, your children are also always going to be seen as tainted because you made it so, by your actions towards Mischa, and your admittance to trying to be my one and only Luna,
“To see her feel not loved and wanted by me, which you got. It should have been plainly obvious to you,
Christy, from all the punishments you received, and the way the pack murmurs about you, the lack of
congratulations on that pup you’re carrying.
“A pup I never announced as the heir to the pack, just announced that you were with pup, because that pup can never be the heir to this pack. But I guess you missed that too,” he told her and walked off to his
office.

Mischa watched as Christy stood there staring after him, trying to absorb this news from him. Her arms were kind of hanging limply at her sides and she stood there, not comprehending that all she’d done to get where she was, had just blown up in her face completely and Mischa hadn’t had to do anything to get it.
Even Mischa had missed that part about him not agreeing to her, stating the heir to the pack should remain as the firstborn regardless of who had it. She sighed and shook her own head. He still believed they were going to work out. ‘Bloody delusional‘ Laud murmured inside her mind.
She watched as Christy finally pulled herself together several minutes later and balled her fists, and then turned and stalked out of the packhouse, and a shiver ran through her as she realized, that was probably Christy trying to come for her. Yes, it had been the right time to leave. If they’d gotten in a fight inside the pack, she had no idea whose side Anthony would actually take.

Even if Christy had started it, she was still pregnant with his pup, and if that pup was lost due to the fight, it would be seen as Mischa had harmed or killed it… and that meant she’d attacked and killed one of the Alpha’s children. She shuddered at the thought of the fallout from that very thing.
Just knew it was what Christy was looking to do, see her harm that pup, so Anthony would turn on her and likely kill her, which would leave only Christy there with him and therefore Christy would get what wanted.
