She was all packed and ready to go, as were all those that were headed to the Whispering Moon with them today. It was about a fiveandhalfhour drive without stops, so they’d already made the plan to stop along the way as a group, every 2 hours for at least 30 minutes, so they were leaving at 9am this morning.

She told Paul he should lead the way, being that he was going to be the official Gamma to that pack, and then Louise should drive directly behind him, and she and the rest would follow, even if they overtook each other on the highway. They should all park before the new pack and allow Paul and Carol, then Louise to drive up as per ranked members would when approaching a pack.

He’d not seen a need for it, kind of argued and then huffed a bit as she’d actually pulled rank on him, not that she was supposed to, but technically a Luna was above a Gamma, and though he’d been unhappy about it, because she was trying to get him to stop looking to her as his Luna, she’d actually had to use that card to make him agree to the plan.

Nick had snorted on the front steps of his own packhouse, as had Lucinda, the joys of who’s actually in charge when no one from your old pack leadership is considered loyal to them anymore. Especially Gammas and Lunas.

It kind of was a conundrum, because if they’d been rogues, she’d outrank him in their little group, and he’d actually still be considered her Gamma, but he and Carol had allowed Nick to initiate them, to show Anthony they’d left in full and weren’t coming back.

While she was still a member of Night Whispers, his old pack and still technically held full rank, because she and Anthony were still bonded. But he also held no actual rank inside this very pack he was attached to. But he was, however, a future Gamma, who held no actual true rank until Alpha Declan initiated him and accepted him as his Gamma later in the afternoon, when they got to his pack.

It was quite amusing for everyone to watch him stand there and try to argue it out with her and her get into the logistics of who actually held the power between the two of them. Nick had shaken his head. I didn’t know you were such a handful, Mischa.

I’m not normally, learned to be over the past year. She’d smiled at him, and they’d settled on the Future Gamma would enter the pack first as per her wants. Because she wasn’t in line to even be initiated at this point, she was just a guest, so it was considered the future Gamma was escorting an unaffiliated Luna into a pack for sanctuary. They both held equal rank, but he had to drive in front.

She’d chuckled at Paul’s annoyance and even his sister had laughed: Ding round 1, 2, and 3 to Mischa. Let’s go peeps.”

She’d hugged Lucinda and Nick and thanked them for their assistance, looked at him. Do as you please with Christy, it is officially no concern of mine anymore.”

He’d nodded. Don’t concern yourself with that pack, Jeremy and I have a plan to keep the pack members safe. No harm will come to them, and we are still going to aid them on your behalf, until you allow yourself to be initiated into Whispering Moon.”

She nodded. Thank you, Elder May, Simone and Debbie will assist you with anything you need, I’m certain. I’ll send you an email with all their details.

I’ve already got Harvey and May’s don’t concern yourself with it. Go and live a better, happier life,” he’d

stated, and she’d finally gotten in her car, and they’d driven out of the pack and headed for their new home

over in towa.

She even had Carol in her car for the middle stretch of that drive, and they’d smiled and laughed and chatted about that pup she was going to have, and the names she and Paul had come up with, for a boy or girl. She and her wolf weren’t in the know yet, but they were going with Druin for a boy and Drusilla for a girl. Both of them liked the name Drew and that was the preplanned shortened version for their child; boy or girl.

Mischa smiled and nodded. I like it, a formal name that can be shortened down to something less formal.

Correct, his nor my name can do that, and we want that for our children.Carol nodded. I wondered what Kitty and Serena are like, if I’ll fit into their group.

Why wouldn’t you?Mischa asked curiously.

Their gamma left.Carol stated.

Their Gamma was female, and there was no Gamma Mate for them to compare you to. You, Carol, are slotting into a position, that has never been filled before,Mischa had reminded her.

Oh, I forgot about that,” Carol chuckled softly.

I also don’t think Nick would send you anywhere he thought you’d not be welcome. Alpha Declan is also aware of why you two left your pack, disrespect from the Alpha and his 2nd Luna, so he’s aware you’ll get up and leave if you’re treated badly. So, I would be thinking that isn’t going to happen.”

It’ll be an adjustment for me though. You’ve always been my Luna and once there you won’t be, even though you’re going to be in the pack.

Odd, I admit, but you’ll get used to it. It’s also not like we won’t hang out, your job will at least still be the same inside the new pack. I have to find something to do. I’m not there as a Luna, so no Luna Duties bar Luna Blessings and I dare say he’s got an accounting department that’s up and running and does a good job. So I’m not going to be needed there.

Hmm, you never know, maybe you could streamline things,Carol stated. You were very good at doing that, maybe lead an audit team or something.

I don’t want to have to do that. I want a break from all I’ve had to do and just be me. I think I’m going to just laze about and read books, until I sign up for that law degree next year. Take like one long holiday.

She smiled.

You know Anthony is still going to call and what not.Carol murmured.

Let him. I’m not picking up anymore. The moment he gets what he wants from Nicholas, I’ll be a blip on his radar once more, and that will be in what two days. From what Nick just said, he’s going to agree to set terms and that will see Christy claim she fixed things and think she’ll prove she’s Luna material.

But Nick’s got his own agenda,Carol stated.

Hmm, it does appear that way, and I trust him, it’s likely he’ll end up in that pack as backing for May and Harvey to retake the seat when the time is right. She answered, Quick and clean, no bloodshed and

You really think Nick’s going to go in and take over?Carol asked.

Hmm, more like being Harvey’s proxy if a duel is to happen, so it’s a quaranteed win for the Elders.” She nodded. It’ll be better off with May and Harvey running it.

He could have done that while you were there. You could have remained the Luna to run it,” Carol sighed.

I didn’t want that, too many memories there now for me. I was born there, mated there and went through a lot of hardships and then had to see my Mate gradually abandon me over time. I don’t want to stay there. That’s why I left too many bad memories all over that pack now.

So a new pack for a new life is all I want, and that I think Nicholas understood and so just sat back and waited patiently for me to actually make up my mind. I did hope back in January that Anthony would come back to me, gave him the benefit of the doubt. No one wants to walk away from their fated mate after 22 years. He failed the test.

I don’t even feel mated to him anymore, there is no connection between him, and I, or Shade and Laud. I can only guess that it is the same for him, seeing as he can’t sense me, smell me or pick up even if I’m in the same room as him, only remembers me if he actually lays eyes directly on me, or suddenly remembers

I would be of use to him.

It’s very sad Mischa,” Carol muttered. “Kind of like he’s got wolfen dementia or Alzheimer’s.

Hmm, that was an interesting way of looking at it, and she’d not once thought of that, but she supposed anything was possible. It was rare, but that did actually happen occasionally. It was sad in the beginning, not anymore, I just don’t care about it. I’m not Mischa Trenery now, she does not exist anymore in our world. I got my new ID yesterday. I am now Mischa White. I hail from Iowa, and my Alpha is Declan Talbot of Whispering Moon. She smiled. Even this car is registered to not only my new name but also to my new pack. I left everything of my old life behind. Everything in this car was bought with my own money, the car, well, I bloody deserve it.She smiled. I love my MG,she smiled.

Many of them were pulled up just down the road from the gates of the Whispering Moon pack, a large set of wrought iron gates with pretty swirls all along the bottom that flowed down from the actual pack symbol, a moon with swirling clouds across it, and a few swirls in the moon itself.

As she waited for Paul to roll past, she looked at it and to her, those swirls in the moon appeared to be like wind moving past it, or she smiled to herself, the clouds whispering to the moon. What she really liked about it was how that pack symbol sat perfectly atop the swirls on the bottom of the gate. As if there were whispers from the moon to the world below. Which meant it was a whispering moon. She wondered absently if that was what it was supposed to depict or if she just saw it that way.

Her attention was drawn to Paul’s car pulling up next to her Lead foot.He hollered at her and she smiled.

Gotta stretch my baby’s legs. She smiled and patted her car’s door. They all pulled out behind him and followed him down to that pack gate, and he’d stated who was and who they all were behind him.

The gate guard had nodded. I thought so, Alpha Declan said to let you on through, and for you to make your way right to the packhouse. He and the unit will all be waiting to meet and greet you. Welcome, Gamma Paul to the Whispering Moon,he’d stated, and the gates had swung open for them to drive through.
