He smiled as he announced to his unit, “Our Gamma just arrived, boys, grab your Mates and let’s go and greet him and his Mate and his sister, our second, properly.”

He’d initiated the 17 wolves he’d gained from that mating ball this morning after seeing off his allies, a good sign he believed that things were still moving forward for his pack. He looked at his clothes and wondered if he should go and dress more formally for this moment.

“It’s fine Dec, they’ve been traveling all day, likely all wearing comfortable clothes for driving long distances.” Holland, his Beta, smiled at him.

“You’re not even dressed that badly; nice jeans and collared polo,Mack, his Delta, had clapped him on back, “it’s not like you’re out there trying to impress a girl or anything.”

He did know that. He was just accepting a new Gamma, who was trailing half his kin from his home pac and one of the Luna’s to that pack. She, he knew from Nick, was still marked and mated to her Alpha. She’d just opted to leave him without telling him or severing their bond.

Not something he’d ever seen a she-wolf do before and wouldn’t recommend it either. If you were leavin your Mate, then you should reject them. Though he’d not heard anything nice about where she was comin from. Her Mate, one Alpha Anthony of Night Whispers, had another Mate. He’d pretty much tossed Misch aside for the newer, younger one; Christy, is what Nick had told him.

Christy was a she-wolf Nick more than disliked, and that pack was slowly but surely being destroyed from the inside out by that second Luna, is what he’d been informed. Christy, to Nick’s knowledge, was hell-ber on eclipsing her Alpha Mate’s first Mate and Luna, a she-wolf that reigned for over two decades. It wasn’t right; Anthony should have just rejected Mischa if he didn’t want her.

A selfish bastard of a Mate is what Nick called him, and Declan had to agree, for one’s Luna to leave, and without telling their Mate. That spoke volumes to all, not only himself. He also knew that Mischa, now went by Misha, pronounced the same just having dropped the C, Nick had reinvented her, and she had been living inside the Rising Blue Lotus for six or seven days now. Nick had called and told him when they’d left this morning, given him an estimated eta.

To which Declan had asked if there had been any trouble with Misha’s Mate, and heard not one call had come to Nick or Lucinda about him wanting to retrieve her. Though Anthony had called her many times, he clearly had no idea she’d left him. She was still picking up his calls, though he was apparently getting the cold shoulder.

That man was somehow oblivious to the fact that his Mate wasn’t even inside his pack. Declan found it hard to believe, he’d asked Nick what she looked like or if maybe she had some injury that her Alpha Mate found undesirable. Only to have Nick state, ‘No healthy, as far as I know. But he’d never actually coughed up what this Luna looked like.

Her name though, it rang a bell. He’d seen but not been introduced to a Luna Mischa in Obsidian. Some of his own teens had interacted with that Luna, but he did not know what pack she was from, though her name wasn’t so common that he knew any others by it, and he was curious as to if it was her. If it was his pack would be happy.

Every teen had liked her at that conference, and she’d been happy interacting with them, guiding them and giving them advice. Even though they weren’t of her pack. A good Luna that she-wolf had been and if it was the same one, losing a Luna like that would put a pack into deficit.

All Declan knew was she was the same age as he was, that she was, in Nicks eyes, worth her Lunas weight in gold. That she had been the reigning Luna of that pack for just over two decades. That kind of to him also matched up to what he’d seen in Obsidian.

Declan had, had his reservations about accepting a she-wolf like her; one that was willing to walk away and not reject her Mate, but then he’d heard all the Gammas had ieft that pack. The actual Gamma had, too, and he knew in that instance something was off. Nothing good came from Gammas leaving, especially the unit’s Gamma. If they quit and left, then something unforgivable was going on inside that pack.

Now he was coming here and bringing not only half his kin but his very own Luna with him, that to him spoke volumes, their Luna/Gamma bond was intact and good and strong, he’d been more loyal to his Lun than his own Alpha. Which meant the Alpha had wronged his Luna and likely in more ways than one.

Which also meant to him that when he got his Mate and Luna, he could in fact trust Paul to always look out for and protect his Luna, even from him if he did something wrong. That was the type of Gamma every Alpha and Luna needed. So he was happy to have Paul as his Gamma and be the cornpletion of his unit.

He would wait and see what this Luna Misha was like and a part of him was kind of hoping it was the Luna from Obsidian. Though at the same time, he also hoped not, because he couldn’t see a reason anyone would toss that Luna aside.

He’d nearly laughed when he’d heard what her new last name was going to be, ‘white’ and stated, “Thought Frost was too obvious for the tracking of her by her Alpha Mate? When he starts looking, Nick. So you opted to choose White because Frost is White?”

“I didn’t pick it,” Nick responded. “She picked her own. Maybe that was what she thought, or it could be that she actually looks good in white. I don’t know, I didn’t think what you did, just stated ‘excellent, it’s a very common last name’. Making it harder to track her in the future.”

Now they were all there, his gate guard had linked to him. There was a line of cars just sitting waiting for something, he’d stated, “It’ll be the new Gamma, and their waiting for all of them, likely one or two got delayed on the road.”

He saw the cars come up the road and hoped they’d like the pack. It wasn’t that large but still had plenty of room to grow, and everything here had a similar uniformity to it, and the packhouse wasn’t designed to be grand and standout, it was designed to look more like a human office building so it would blend into the human world better, as did the hospital and school.

All the offices were in the front and the entertainment zones were in the middle, separating the two areas of the packhouse from business to private. Their suites were at the back of the building. There was also no grand ballroom at this time. He’d not really needed one in the beginning, but it was in the works to be built.

It would be attached to this building by a walkway and a connecting roof, but be a completely separate building that sits off the back. There would be a well-planned out formal garden with walkways and seating to extend the ballroom to the outside, so wolves could be inside or out in the formal gardens at mating balls.

Most of the homes here in the pack were duplexes with spacious yards, or low-rise apartment buildings. That could house a family with up to three children, and there were apartment buildings for singles and

mated pairs that didn’t yet have pups or just didn’t want the hassle of having a lawn to take care of.

It looked more like a human suburb than most packs did, which was by design, again to help them blend in; being so close to the city here. But there were also plenty of trees throughout the pack, which made it feel more like they were in the woods that the pack backed onto.

This place was much greener than the surrounding human suburbs when seen from the air, and was considered a gated community. The entire front of the pack was fenced off with large wrought iron gates and a gate guard house with one man stationed there at all times and none without permission could come into the pack.

He could only hope that what they saw they liked. Some did not like the way the pack wasn’t off in the depths of the woods away from the humans, but they had to get with the times. As the world grew, they had to adapt and change and the Wolfen Council was hoping they could blend more and have less like singular packs to be hidden and more like wealthy gated communities within cities.

This would stop a lot of waring and fighting and take overs of packs because humans would see and hear it. So the new way was being trialed by those that were willing to do so. He’d offered it if they granted him a pack of his own, they’d agreed. He knew he wasn’t the only one. There was a pack cut in California, one in northern Colorado, now here in lowa, and there were he knew ones in Alabama, Vermont and Maine.

An experiment throughout varying different human populated places with different lifestyles, from large and moderately sized cities to small towns and rural farming areas. One was recognized as a full town out in California. They were doing great and the entire pack was open to the public 90% of the time, and it was thriving.

The cars finally pulled up, and he smiled, not just adults but children, whole families, and those children he could hear were excited and happy, though mostly that was because there was a very large playground they’d seen on the block before the packhouse. It was massive and had everything they could want, and he could hear they were talking about it.

He watched who he suspected to be Paul get out of that lead car and come around and open the door for his Mate, who would be Carol, and then turned and smiled at him. “Alpha Declan, I am Paul and this is Carol, my Mate.” He introduced himself.

Declan walked over and shook the man’s hand and then his Mates, “Welcome to Whispering Moon, and thank you for joining the pack as our official Gamina. You come highly recommended.”

Paul smiled. “I should be thanking you,” he turned and looked down the path. “My sister Louise,” he introduced who would be the pack’s second heir to the Gamma bloodline, and attend duties when Paul wasn’t in the pack.

“Hi.” She smiled at him and shook his hand.

“Hello, this is my unit and their Mates, Beta Holland and Kitty, and Delta Mack and Serena.” He introduced his unit to them all and everyone said hi.

His eyes moved to the small, petite, stunningly beautiful Asian woman leaning on a red MG convertible, he could smell Luna rank from here. So, this was the Luna Mischa! And yes, it was the very same one from Obsidian. He sighed internally for all he now knew was happening to her.

and he couldn’t fathom why her Alpha Mate would turn her away either.

Though she was only tiny, ‘cute’ kind of popped into his head and he smiled at her. “Misha White, I believe.” He stated, she’d been watching the interaction of her actual Gamma with him and his unit, and she was smiling. She liked knowing he was getting to keep his position as a Gamma as well.

“Hello, Alpha Declan,” she greeted him back and leaned off her car, pushed her sunglasses up through her hair. It was long and framed her lovely face. “Thank you for accepting all of us,” she waved her hand at the others now standing around. “Myself and my unique situation as well.”

“It is definitely unique.” He nodded, his eyes moving to the filigree she still bore. He’d bed this woman relentlessly if she was his Luna. He wondered what her Alpha’s other Luna fooked like though he didn’t think she was going to compare to this lovely creature.
