Declan

He moved his eyes about the wolves that were all coming back from pack run, and his beast, Wild, smelled that Luna rank that was now here in the pack and his eyes moved to where it was coming from. Luna Misha’s wolf, who he knew to be named Laud, a mid-sized Grey Wolf, and she was out there playing with who he could smell were a group of teens with wolves, all between 16 and 18, not yet fully realized their bloodlines.

‘Already drawn to her, being a Luna wolf.’ Wild stated inside his mind.

‘I can see that,’ and he could her wolf as he watched her play; he saw had a solid dark grey mask and the only white on her face was under her chin, a little different to the other grey wolves out here, who all had either light grey or tan colored snouts, with white cheeks and white around their eyes, not Laud.

She had silver around her eyes, though she did have a white chest like most Grey Wolves did. She, he realized, was just like most other Grey Wolves of their species, only she was a little darker in coloring was all, where most would have white she kind of had black. Laud had black brindled down through that dark grey on her back, making her even darker in colour, it kind of made her stand out against the other Grey Wolves,

Though she did have a little white brindled through her underbelly and tail, which he thought softened her look quite a bit, ‘Pretty’, he thought to himself as he watched her. Most of those teens over there were als Grey Wolves, and she blended into this pack as if she just fit right in, even with her out there playing amongst those teens and not tracking her by scent, he could pick her out of that group of 20 wolves easily

Because of not only her more than dark colored coat but because Laud’s fully dark grey mask stood out to him. Most of those wolves playing with her wolf, had a white or light grey snout. Some of them had a soft tan on their snout or in their cheeks, and that tan was also brindled through their fur, something Laud

didn’t have.

‘A pretty wolf for a pretty Luna’ he thought, but that was kind of par for the course. Most Luna Ranked wolves were a little different to those of regular wolves; kind had one feature that would stand out more so than the wolves of the pack they belonged to, and though she was a Grey Wolf like 80% of their species were, she was unique in her coloring.

He also knew she and her wolf hadn’t really interacted with any of the pack today, had unpacked what little she’d brought with her, then gotten into that heated argument with her actual Alpha Mate. Though he’d seen it wasn’t direct contact, she’d not, to what he’d seen, even considered calling him after he’d texted her.

Which to him meant there was little actual real conversation between them. Nick had told him things weren’t good, were falling apart, that there was what he believed to be a quiet war between Luna’s going on, two Lunas to one Alpha and two decades between them. That Alpha Anthony favored his new Mate, who, in Nicks eyes, was out to destroy her own Alpha Mate’s bond with his first Luna.

He’d seen today himself, just listening to what she’d stated, Nick wasn’t wrong, but how could it not be a war between Luna’s when one felt abandoned by their own Mate. He didn’t understand how one Mate could abandon the other. He might have been young when his parents were killed, but he recalled they’d loved each other. He saw bonded wolves in his pack, his own unit were all bonded and happy. They loved

their mates. He even had three wolves in this very pack that had the same bond as Misha had; one Mate between two that weren’t mated to each other.

One was a she-wolf and the other were males. There was no problem with their bonds, though admittedly they’d all scented each other out at the same time. And one of his warriors had actually gotten himself two she-wolves that were best friends. He’d watched those girls laugh and high five each other; happy to have a shared Mate.

Though he’d also known those two girls had thought that warrior was hot, and kind of drooled over him. He was a happy-mated wolf and Declan knew those three actually slept in one bed. The girls didn’t mind sharing at all. Their heats were separated six months apart and they’d both gotten pregnant in the same year, their pups just six months apart, two little girls completely doted on and called both women’ mummy’. There was no distinction between the two of them for the children. They simply had two mothers and one father.

But all three of those bonds seemed to be just fine. There was no warring between them, and when he’d got that notification from the wolfen council about registering the different types of bonds, and who they were in his pack, he’d got more questions about those three directed to him. A separate set of questions had sprung up from clicking the box that indicated what type of bond they were in.

It had been weird and a little odd to him, because no other bonds had that attached to them. He’d had to answer things like, what rank were each of them? Did they all look healthy? Did the two mated to the one get along? Did he see one of them with the Mate more so than the other? Did the two mated to the one, hang out and socialize together or separately from each other? Were there pups and, if so, were they treated the same and seen to be healthy to have no fear about them where the other Mate was concerned?

He’d found it quite odd to be honest, and though it had come from the Wolfen Council with an e-mail attached to it to say they were trying to keep track of different types of bonds, that one was more than odd, because none of the other multiple mate bonds got that line of questioning, or not that he’d seen, he supposed all that had Mates not mated to each other but were connected by one Mate would do so.

There had been a list of types of mate bonds; single, double, triple, and quadruple bonds, with all the different ways ones could be mated inside those bonds to be checked. His pack was 95% regular single bonds, only had those three in a three-way bond, and he had two wolves that were in a three-way mate bond, but they were all mated to each other, and bore both their mates’ marks, were happy and loved up.

He looked at Misha now and understood just what type of bond she had, and understood what he’d have to fill out on that questionnaire as well for her, one Mate between two, though she looked healthy, those she-wolves attached to the Alpha did not get along, that the Alpha only spend time with one of them, no those she-wolves didn’t hang out, and he was damned certain Luna Misha was not at all inclined to give her Alpha Mate pups.

Not after what he’d seen and heard, he wondered just how Anthony had handled filling out that form? Plad he lied on it to get past his own inadequacies? Declan had only gotten his two weeks ago and he’d not really had to think about it, he knew who was in multiple bonds within his pack.

But it had made him go out and actually look at those bonded groups and spend a few days watching them to be able to answer those questions. He’d really looked at two of them the other, those two girls that were best friends were happy all the time, loved each other as they did their Mate between them. But he’d wanted to make sure he was filling it in correctly. So he checked on them all, and filled it in to what he’d seen without them knowing he was watching.

He thought that was actually part of why it was done, to make the Alpha or Luna go out and look at the bonded pair to see if there was something a miss that he’d not picked up, to see if there was trouble

brewing or hatred even within the bonds, to be able to step in and offer a solution or assistance if it was needed.

But would that Mate of hers, Anthony, answer honestly all those questions that would show the Wolfen Council he wasn’t a good Alpha Mate, something like that could see them come in and discern for themselves if he should be forced to reject one, to set her free from a life she didn’t want to live.

Declan also didn’t know if the Lunas in the packs got that e-rnail or not? He didn’t have a Luna, which meant it had to come to him. Had Mischa and Anthony’s other Mate both received it? Had Misha also received it, answered it in full without bias, only to have Christy decline to answer it at all, dismiss it, or outright lie to the wolfen council.

Was this other Luna in her Mate bond stupid enough to lie directly to the wolfen council? He knew she was stupid enough to voice words that had insulted an entire bloodline, and seen all the Gamma’s take full offense to it and leave. Not one was left inside that pack anymore.

She’d also, just days after that, not adhered to the pack alliance with Nick and insulted Lucinda herself, breaching and seeing their alliance be broken. That showed him she wasn’t so bright. Dumb. In fact, considering how he knew Nick would take that, hell any allied Alpha would take offense to one insulting his Luna.

Yet this Christy went about doing so without a care in the world, it seemed. He’d now seen Misha decline to help her own Alpha resolve the mess his other Mate and Luna had made. That was a very large statement to make. She’d stopped caring is what it said and her own Alpha Mate had to know this. Yet he didn’t seem to even know she wasn’t in that pack anymore.

Misha, he now understood, was completely unconcerned that she was still mated to that Alpha, because he had another Mate to bed and doing so did not affect her at all. She didn’t feel it. She also knew he wasn’t going to cause her pains of betrayal because of that very thing.

‘She free and clear to leave, be bound to him forever, but never have to deal with him again. Can leave because she knows he won’t actually notice she’s gone.’ Wild huffed inside his mind. ‘Pathetic for Alpha Wolf.’

‘Agreed, doesn’t deserve two Mates.’ Declan stated.

‘We could force him to reject her,’ Wild stated.

‘Hmm, Nick probably already offered, this is what she wants… to see how long it takes him to know she’s left him.’ They had been her very words to him today. That’s why she’d not tossed that phone away but had handed it to him. She was really done, but her curiosity remained; as to how long her own Mate would be oblivious to her not being inside that pack.

Something Anthony should be able to feel the moment he set foot inside it, who was inside his pack; his pack tether to his Luna should kick in and his connection to her should be felt. Did that man never mind-link to her anymore?
