The Eclipsed Life of Luna Mischa (by Jennifer Francis) novel Chapter 176

Misha’s Heat Blooms

Misha

Three days after she arrived at the Whispering Moon, she got a call on her new phone from Nick to tell he Anthony had not turned up with Christy as per their scheduled appointment. That apparently, not long afte they’d left the pack, Christy had pains in her abdomen and thought she was having a miscarriage, and herushed her back to the pack’s hospital.

She’d shaken her head. Did you reschedule it?she’d asked.

I have not. I told him that I thought it was very convenient timing, that the day she was to come and apologize, she was suddenly having a miscarriage and couldn’t make it.Nick had stated, I was actually expecting it. Her to find a way to try and get out of it.”

So did she miscarry, or was it put down to a sudden bout of growing pains?Misha stated. She was also willing to bet the latter.

Growing pains is now what I’ve heard it was. He apologized on her behalf hoping I’d accept that instead, I did not. Has he called you?Nick asked.

Hmm, I don’t know, Declan has had my phone since the day I got here. Though I do have access to the pack’s social media, give me a sec. She’d logged into her account and checked the status of Christy’s account, Christy’s account has a picture of her hand on her slightly distended belly, taken just this morning from the date stamp. He’s growing quickly. Alpha Jasper will be his name if it’s a boy, or Alpha Jasmine if a girl. Anthony is happy with the names for our pup.

Then she snorted, fully amused and Nick had asked, What’s so funny?

Jasper and Jasmine are the names my unit made up in front of Christy, to make her believe that Anthony and I were going to name our heirs that, to see if she would try and steal them for her own pup. Guess they were right. I can only imagine Letti and Rebecca are rolling around laughing right now having seen that.

I would never choose either of them. It seems even without me inside that pack she is still doing everything she can to try and eclipse me. She knows I’m not in that pack, likely checking for me returning. or keeping a feeler out for my tether, maybe even going so far as to check if my car is in the garage.

She’s won Nick. I’ve left that pack, and yet she’s still obsessed with stealing things she thinks are mine. Still trying to show me she’s gotten everything and I have nothing. It was stupid of her, there was no need for her to go on with that behavior anymore.

Maybe Misha, she thinks like Anthony does, you’re just here inside my pack biding your time to go back to the pack,he commented.

Hmm, I guess that could be it. Who the hell knows what goes on inside the mind of one like her! Not me anymore. I honestly thought it would all just stop when I was gone, and she would actually clean up her act and become a decent shewolf, focus on her actual mate bond and growing it properly. Maybe even become a decent Luna, if she had no competition, that she’d settle down and not be so vindictive or selfish.

Likely she can’t do that; is set in her ways now, after three years of doing it, it has become second nature to her,Nick stated.

Mishers Heat

So she faked all that pain and pretended to think she was having a miscarriage. I’m guessing she waited until they were like forty or so minutes outside the pack, so returning to it would be automatic, riot so far from it that continuing to your pack would be the better option. She can cry on cue, that one. Look paine and pathetic on purpose. He wouldn’t know if she was lying or not. She’d have been in that car and clutched at her stomach and tears would have welled up and spilled down her face. Anthony can’t disce fake tears from real tears as far as I’m concerned, they all elicit the same sympathetic response from hi and with her being pregnant

Oh, she often cries, does she?Nick mused somewhat thoughtfully.

At the drop of a hat, but never with the allies around, only usually when I’m in the room, and she’s trying sway him to side with her, playing the pitiful, I feel inferior card.Misha nodded.

Hmm, well let me impart some interesting facts to you. I’ve been doing some research into how she’s been eclipsing you myself. Overlaying her scent on everything is the easiest way to do that, but you say she cries all the time

Hmm, cries and runs off, is her go to move.Misha answered.

Did you know the sight of one in tears not only invokes an emotional response and creates sympathy in Mate, but it also lowers aggression and invokes a protectiveness within them as well. It’s been studied by wolfen scientists, likely someone like yourself, and the results show

That when a shewolf cries, their very tears produce a chemical reaction in the brain of the Mate, they invoke not only a response to the visual, but a neurological response is activated by the chemical that is i the tears itself. Something not smelled but picked up on by the olfactory part of the brain.

Tears actually affect the social and behavioral aspects of a wolfen Mate. Tears play a part in mediating arguments between Mates and can, in fact, significantly influence the behavior of one’s Mate, to sway them into believing them when they are at odds or conflicted about two things. It can make a Mate want to help them, settle them and comfort them.

When a shewolf like Christy thinks she’s in trouble, she turns on the tears on purpose because it triggers her Mate into wanting to protect her, stops him from rounding on her and makes him want to forgive her dare say Misha, Christy is in the know of this, and used those tears in the beginning to get a hold of Anthony,

Then she continued to cry, as a way to keep him only interested in comforting her, and not you. That, combined with overlaying her scent everywhere you and Anthony have been or had moments that are meaningful to your bond, is how she eclipsed you. It started small and as she gained more control over his behavior, and saw he was responding as she desired him to, she grew bolder.

She conditioned him over time to see her as weak and in need of protection, and from you, no less. Even though you have never once harmed her. She likely cries in that suite of theirs before he walks into it. Even if he doesn’t see it, he’d still pick up on the chemical those tears put out. She could well make them fall while he’s asleep and whispers things to his unconscious mind.

You think she brainwashed him?Misha frowned a little.

Anything is possible, slow and steady over the years, not something he would recognize, and after a time, it would become something he’d dismiss because he wouldn’t want to think of her like that. That she is cruel and vicious enough to do this, because, in his eyes, she’s weak and needs protectingNick told her It was an interesting read; I’ll send it to you if you like.

I’m done with him, and he can have his manipulative shewolf all to himself. She stated, she didn’t need To read it, she believed what Nick was telling her, because it all lined up with all that had happened.

Alright,he stated. let you know if they actually turn up for that apologyHe’d told her and hung up

She’d thought about it, with the amount of crying that shewolf did. It had been all the time, especially in the beginning, and she could see it had elicited exactly the response Nick had just told her it would, in Anthony

Christy had grown bold enough to induce her own heat and used those tears during her heat to keep him right there, making him choose between herself and Misha. Misha now understood those tears would have been falling when she begged him not to leave her, told him she was in pain, making her appear weak and in need of protection.

Christy had seen that it had worked. She’d gotten Anthony to abandon Misha completely, and that had led her to believe he only cared about herself, so she’d taken it one step further in the pack’s hospital. In the hope that it would see him accuse and kill Mischa for harming Christy. Her keeping him by her side during that heat had been what had made Christy think it was the right time to lay her cards out in full, and have him get rid of Mischa, all while she was sedated in the hospital and couldn’t be blamed for it.

She wondered how Christy had learned the things she did to get what she wanted; she didn’t think she was smart enough to know all this herself. So she had to be getting help from someone else. Though that person was not of Night Whispers. She thought about it for only a moment and knew whoever they were, came from her original home pack.

There was no way she was ever not a narcissist, so likely used people growing up to help her get what she wanted. Probably had family or friends that got information for her, she’d probably promised them something in return once her place was solidified as the only Luna.

For all, Mischa knew Christy’s own mother could well be the same, and she’d simply learned this behavior from a young pup. So, it was ingrained into her to do the same. She shook it off what did it matter at all now? Christy had gotten her way in the end. Only it wasn’t exactly how she wanted it. With Anthony rejecting Misha. She couldn’t get him to do it, no matter how hard she tried.

Though she did wonder just how much Christy was bothered by Misha’s actual departure from the pack. was she at all concerned that Misha would go further away than the Rising Blue Lotus and Anthony would feel that ache in his chest that he’d got and had seen him recall he had a second Mate, and that distance to him felt like the severing of their bond because they were so very broken.

r

She did recall Christy crying while Misha was away across the country, and Anthony had that ache inside his chest, had seen him turn on Christy and become angry with her. It didn’t elicit sympathy at all, it backfired. That was an interesting side effect.

But now she wondered if he was in pain himself and Christy turning on the waterworks and trying to gain sympathy for herself when he needed comfort. Showed him that Christy didn’t care about his own pain and, so, it didn’t work like it normally would but had the opposite effect, instead of decreasing aggression it incited aggression. Now that was interesting to think about for her.
