Initiation
Declan
He’d been in the head office of his company all morning and had returned home to the pack for the afternoon. He often only worked half a day in the human world; if there were no human appointments for him or his unit, then they simply worked from the pack, he had everything he needed to work from home, as the humans called it.
Though his day had been a bit strange right from after breakfast, Wild had kind of arced up at leaving the pack for seemingly no reason at all. His own wolf had felt like he was trying to stall him from going to the office. Wild was prowling around inside his own mind, and kind of halted his footsteps as they’d headed for their car, it had been a stilted walk.
His unit had looked at him and understood he was kind of arguing with his own beasts’ will. It happened at times for all of them, though admittedly, it usually only happened with mated wolves that didn’t want to leave their Mates inside the pack, for one reason or another.
He’d had to kind of fight Wild and force his own will over his beast. Telling him there was nothing wrong with the pack, he’d even gone so far as to have the border patrol sound off, there were no alerts to the pack and nothing out of the ordinary was happening. The only thing he’d been linked about, was a new pup had been born while he and the boys had been off at training. Other than that, everything was completely normal.
His wolf had turned his head from where they were standing still, kind of arguing between themselves about leaving the pack, and he’d seen Misha heading off to go and do the Luna Blessing; he’d texted her about the birth after training had finished. Which was what they’d set up between themselves for her to attend to Luna Blessings, seeing that he or the pack doctor couldn’t link to her. He was notified by the pack doctor, and he passed it on to Misha. That way, he didn’t get bypassed in the process and knew of all pups born as well.
Misha had seen them, nodded to him as she left the packhouse to go attend to that blessing. He’d given her pack access so she could register the pups herself. Although she’d told him it wasn’t necessary that Kitty, Carol or Serena could do the documentation, he’d told her it would just be smoother if she did it. The girls didn’t mind, had even stated that she would need to have access for when they all gave birth themselves, so she could document their pups and the heirs to the pack being born; he’d agreed.
He’d managed to get Wild to get in the car so they could leave. He did have two important meetings this morning, but there was something else going on. His own wolf was interested in tracking Misha is what it came across as. As if he was worried she was going to leave the pack today and not be here when they came home.

Which was not going to happen. She was actually happy and settled here inside their pack, had made friends easily, the teens liked her, he’d seen many sitting around her asking her questions and, though he’d reminded them, she wasn’t the pack’s Luna. They’d kind of looked from him to her and one had pointed at her. “But Luna ranked.” she’d stated.
Which kind of implied they didn’t understand why she couldn’t be approached by them for help with things. Misha had waved him off and told him it was fine. She wasn’t doing anything else and he’d left it alone.
The new mothers who she did Luna Blessings for also kind of hunted her out at times, just wanted to sit and have afternoon tea with her, it appeared. Carol had chuckled softly and stated, “Just like back in the old pack. She’s always drawn everyone to her.”
“Like a magnet.” He nodded. Every day there were wolves smiling and sitting with her, talking to her and rarely did he see her on her own. Only usually if she was out under that favorite tree of hers, it was kind of like her alone space, and the pack members kind of just knew to leave her be when she was over there.
His pack members liked her. A few had even asked him when she was officially going to become a pack member. Even though she was mated to an Alpha of another pack, they all knew she wasn’t going back to her old pack. It was the fact that she lived here and never mentioned her home pack or her Mate, which showed them she wasn’t going back.
He’d seen her settle a few crying pups or small children over the weeks, where she’d used her Luna Calm on them when they couldn’t be settled after falling from the play equipment and being injured. Or the newborn pup just cried none stop and the mother and father were tired or exhausted and looking for help.
It didn’t seem to bother her at all. She just got up and did it, happy he thought to help the pack. He also never saw any signs that she might leave, to give his beast pause, like what had happened this morning, and had used that to make Wild leave the pack. He’d been an unhappy wolf inside his mind all morning, and it was odd, they were always on the same page about everything.
They’d driven into the pack and Wild had been up inside his mind the moment they’d driven through the pack gates, and his own beast had made him put the window down so he could smell the pack. Declan had shaken his head. ‘What the heck is wrong with you today?’ he’d muttered to his own beast.
‘Where is Misha?’ Wild had asked right back and taken a breath in to try and smell her, which they had done. Picked up the Night Whispers pack scent on the breeze to indicate she was still here.
‘See still here somewhere in the pack. Declan had shaken his head and found his Delta

sitting in the back seat with him looking at him. “Don’t ask, he’s been off all day.”
“Something’s got his attention.” Mack had smiled “You want to bet who?”
“I know who. The first thing he did was ask about Misha and then breathe in to make sure she was still here.” Declan shook his head.
“She’s not going anywhere,” Paul commented. “Likes it here, she is actually happy, and that is a nice thing for me to feel from her. She’s been unhappy for a very long time. Though I couldn’t get her to leave Anthony, no one could.” He sighed. “She had her own plans that she was dead set on enacting before leaving.”
“Lunas will do what they want, especially when unhappy,” Declan had answered.
Holland had pulled the car up outside the packhouse, instead of putting it in the underground car park, they had a dinner meeting at 6pm in the city. So the car would be parked out the front ready to go.
He’d seen Misha sitting on the grassy area near the park, and his wolf had looked right at her. She was comfortable, all leaned back on her arms, her face tilted up to the sun, sunglasses. on and her long hair was loose down her back, she was just wearing a silk singlet top and knee length skirt.
A bit odd for clothing choice for this time of the year it was only 44 degrees outside and though she was in direct sunlight she should want to wear more clothes. Most wore long pants because the days were now cold, and it dropped below freezing at night, yet when he thought about it, she kind of always dressed in summer-type clothing.
“Doesn’t she feel the cold?” he asked.
“Hmm, I don’t know. Her clothing over the past year has been light. Even when it’s snowing outside, in deep winter, she doesn’t put on more than a long-sleeved shirt. I got the sense more than once or twice last year, that she was trying to freeze her own heart. Could well be that she started sleeping with the window open or outside in winter and acclimatized to it,” Paul answered him. “She does look more than comfortable out there.”
He could only agree, though she was also in direct sunlight as well, so that would probably help. He’d gotten out of the car, as did his unit, and Wild had surfaced the moment his foot hit pack territory, and his head had whipped around to look at Misha and a low growl had emitted from him as he’d turned his entire body towards her.
‘Shit is about to get real.’ He’d shot down the mind-link to his own unit, ‘Contain us.”
What?’ They’d all asked in unison even as his beast took a step away from the car.
Initiation
‘She’s got Wild’s undivided attention.’ He’d told them. ‘Kind of feels like he’s going over there to mate her for himself.’
They’d all been on him, even as he’d tried to force his will over his own beast to calm down, and yelled at him about what the hell was wrong with him, ‘Not our Mate.’ He’d shot to Wild and tried to rein him in. He was already dragging all three of the unit, nothing it appeared was going to stop him from going over there, not even his own unit using all their wolfen strength on him.
Whatever had been bothering him all day was now at the forefront of Wild’s mind, and he wasn’t letting it go. She looked right at them, struggling to contain him, and he knew she would see it was his wolf, not himself. She looked about as if looking to see what he was looking at and then, as Holland tried to trip them over and bring them down, he felt his bones crack, and he was half shifted before he knew it.
His wolf’s full display of power, and he snapped his arms out and tossed his own unit away as if they were nothing to him at all, and then he was gone at full alpha wolf speed to get to her. She didn’t seem to understand what was going on herself at first, but she didn’t get up and run away from his half-shifted wolfen form as it loomed over her. She kind of just stared at him in shock.
Wild was practically on top of her, a hand to either side of her, caged her in there on the ground, and then he was breathing her in once more, and Declan got it, as he picked up exactly what was going on with his wolf. Misha smelled different to him, sweeter than normal, and it was a scent his wolf liked.
He couldn’t hear anything at all, and he knew Wild was actively listening for the sound of a heartbeat right now, the quick flutter of an unborn pup in her belly, one that he knew would be theirs, conceived during her heat.
This morning, Wild had picked up something about her but couldn’t put his finger on it. Declan understood what it was now. She had been in the process of her body’s scent changing. It was not fully there, but now here it was in full, he could actually smell the difference. She had this soft mint smell about her that hadn’t been there yesterday.
She was carrying their pup and heir, and Wild was all about claiming her and that pup for himself. Declan wasn’t even getting a say in the matter, it appeared his wolf had made the choice for them both. Not that he really minded, there was only one problem he foresaw; that filigree still adorning her neck.
