He looked at Misha. “Do you wish to speak with your Ex?” he asked, making a clear point that she had left him and he knew that.
“There is no real need,” Misha stated simply, calmly. “He has another Mate and doesn’t need me.” She reiterated her stance, something Declan was certain had been the same for a year
or more now.
“Mischa, I do need you. Where are you? I’ll come and get you right now,” Anthony stated.
“Why bother? I just made my point. I’m not coming back. I told you after I came home back in April, I could leave you while still bound to you, that you’d likely never even notice if I did. How long did it take you to know I’d left you, or are you still of the opinion I’m there in your pack?”
“You’ve not left me, it’s just a fight,” he muttered.
“Oh, is it? Then let me explain it to you, in simple terms your Christy-addled brain can understand. I left the day after Paul and Carol did. When you put a target on my back, by telling Christy, none of her pups will be the heirs to that pack, only mine and yours would be. That conversation, I was there for some of it. I left the moment you stated that, because I knew it would see Christy come after me.
“That was when I left you. I nor Laud are interested in having your pup.”
“What!” Anthony exclaimed.
Only to have Misha blip over it completely to tell him, “It was a month ago now that I left. I stayed in Nick’s pack until the full moon, and then I left the morning after that to come here to Declan’s pack. Been here ever since, not that you knew that. You thought I was just throwing a tantrum and staying in the Rising Blue Lotus all that time.
“I’d already left you when Christy screwed up. I was in the Rising Blue Lotus already, and here’s the kicker for you… I was the one that told Nick to have Lucinda call about not getting the invitation,” she told him, and Declan heard the amusement in her voice.
“No! You would never harm the pack.” Anthony gasped in shock as he came to realize she was the one to start the cause of the pack’s downfall.
“I didn’t harm the pack, I simply gave Christy the opportunity to explain herself for breaching the alliance between the two packs. She didn’t disappoint and showed her true colors. I knew she would, and finally you’d get to see her for who she really is… I was also sitting in the office listening to Christy and Lucinda’s phone call, when she ruined that alliance,
“Then I was there in Nick’s office when you called him that afternoon, brought into it, so I could hear everything that went between the two of you, after you got Lucinda’s e-mail, which I was allowed to read prior to your call… I knew everything that was going to happen, before it
CH 188
happened.
“You didn’t even know I’d closed out my Luna account, shut down my e-mail either. All things you as the Alpha would have been notified of. I did that before I left you. It should have been the moment you realized I was leaving you, but… somehow it slipped past you, or… perhaps you letting Christy have access to your phone all the time.
“Also allowed her to have access to your e-mail and notifications, which I thought you would have learned from, after the last time she used your phone against me. I can only guess she deleted those notifications so you wouldn’t see them and know I was leaving you. She was willing to watch me leave and never come back and play it off as if she had no idea, just like that phone call she took.” She shook her head, “You might want to check the footage of the day I left, see just what and where she went after I left. I believe she was coming after me. Thankfully, I knew to leave to save my own life from her.
“I was in the Rising Blue Lotus every time you called me to try and fix Christy’s mistake. I wasn’t out to dinner in a pack affiliated restaurant; I was in the Rising Blue Lotus’s dining hall with Paul and Carol across from me. I wasn’t in a hotel; I was in a suite in Nick’s pack.
“That last call I answered, I wasn’t in Nick’s pack. I took that the day I arrived here in my new pack, and you had no idea, because you can’t sense if I’m in that pack or not anymore, don’t see me or smell me unless you’re looking directly at me. I left you a month ago, and you’re so blind that you never even saw it. That entire pack of yours knows I left you, yet you didn’t; explain that in a way that says you love and care for me.”
“What? I don’t understand the entire pack? No, they would say something.” He sounded very
confused to her.
“Are you sure about that or do you think they all thought it was my right to leave after everything you did and didn’t do? How you only wanted to protect Christy. I’m pretty certain they all understood. That they just stopped talking about me when I left. I did say goodbye to them in a pack-wide e-mail. So yes, Anthony, the pack knows I’ve left you and when, you’re the only one stupid enough to still be in the dark.” She stated, and Declan smiled as he watched her lay it all out for her Alpha Mate, things he didn’t even know had gone on, because, yes, he was blind.

Anthony
He couldn’t believe what he was hearing come from her. She’d not only left him but informed the entire pack, only he’d not gotten the e-mail she’d just mentioned. His eyes moved to his own unit, who were sitting not in here with him but out there in the foyer of the packhouse. They’d seen him react to Mischa being severed from the pack and he’d told them.
Kendrick and Dereck had just looked at him and then nodded as if it was expected of her to do so and even as he’d reached for his phone they’d gotten up and left his office, walked away as if they didn’t care to hear what was about to be said.
Now he understood why that was, they knew she was going to do it, they’d gotten that e-mail from her as well, only they’d not brought it up to him… Did they think he’d gotten it and just ignored it, let her walk away from him and the pack? Now, as he heard all of this, the answer that came to mind was yes.
His own Beta and Delta thought he didn’t care about her, or her leaving him and this pack in full, and why? Because he still had Christy. They were loyal to the pack. Mischa was a pack member as well as the Luna to it, and any pack member could reject the pack and leave. They did not need to explain themselves to their former Alpha; and that was who he was now. She’d just been initiated into another’s pack willingly, he understood.
He wasn’t her Alpha, he was her former Alpha, she and he may still be Mates, but she’d been addressing him as Alpha for Goddess only knew how long, not even he could recall when it had started. Her words interrupted his thoughts and brought him back to the conversation at
hand.
“You’ve still got Christy and a pup on the way now, I hear as well, so… what do you need me for other than keeping the pack up and running and in the black? I’m only good for your accounting department, other than that, you see me as nothing to you.”
“That is not true, please Mischa, just come home, and we can talk about this.” Anthony stated, “I understand you’re very unhappy, and I will be different. I promise you that, no more will Christy get what she wants. I’ve stripped her of everything, her title and all her things. I sold it all off to make back some of the funds she depleted.
“The pups she’s carrying aren’t heirs, just pups and nothing more.” He told her, hoping she would see he was turning things around here inside the pack, so her life would be better here
with him.
“Pups?” she asked, picking up on the one word that was plural.
CH 189
He closed his eyes as he realized he’d brought them into the conversation, and shouldn’t
have. She didn’t want to hear about them from him. He was silent for many seconds but then just answered her question. She had a right to know. “Yes, Christy is carrying twins,” he murmured. “But I don’t want to talk to you about her. There is no need,
“If you want me to reject her, Mischa. I will, just come home to me, and I’ll do that right before you, banish her from the pack as well, if you want that. It’s all going to be up to you how things go from now on. I’ve told her that already as well.” He informed her of how he was going to be showing her that he was putting her first from now on.
Not only had he told Christy that, she’d actually seemed to understand what she’d done and how bad it was for herself, and was not arguing with anyone. She had even gotten herself a job within the pack, hadn’t attempted to even walk into the Luna’s office, not once since he’d told her how it was going to be.
She didn’t ask to sleep in his suite, bowed her head to him and the unit, the Luna’s unit, even in passing and was working for the pack kitchen, told him she would work there to try and make up for the head chef having left. She was, in fact, behaving and following the orders of those that ran the kitchen and hadn’t even arced up once over it.
It had been a full curiosity for him in the beginning, but she’d told him when he’d questioned her as to why she was in the kitchen, “I’m just doing what I should to make up for the losses to the pack. As is my responsibility, seeing as I caused it,” she’d stated.
He didn’t know if he truly believed it and was currently just letting her because there was nothing else he could do. Only time would tell on that front if it would last or not.
“Oh, I see…” Mischa interrupted his thoughts once more. “So, now you want me to ruin your mate bond with her, like she did ours…” Misha shook her head. “You still can’t take accountability for your own actions, I see. You let her destroy our mate bond, and now you’re putting your and her mate bond in my hands; to destroy it or not.” Misha muttered, and then he heard her take a breath in “Alpha Declan, will you and your unit bear witness to my statement.” Were her next words.
“Yes,” Declan answered. He didn’t even know who this Alpha was or where he was, but he was giving her exactly what she wanted right now, and that was all that would matter to her and he knew it. “Say what you need to, we’ll record it in full.” Her new Alpha told her.
“Mischa wait! Don’t do anything you’ll regret.” Anthony rushed out in his effort to stop her from saying whatever it was, because dread was filling him and his beast right this minute that she was going to issue a rejection over the phone.
“Regret…” he heard her say and closed his eyes. A part of him knew it was too late, but he had to hear her words to know how to fix things, even though a part of him wanted to hang up
CCH 189
and never hear them, he didn’t have to accept them.
“I don’t regret anything I’ve done in the past 12 months. Because I no longer love you, Laud no longer loves Shade,” she stated simply, without any emotion or traces of pain in her voice at all, and he could feel pain starting to rip through his chest as he felt their bond starting to tear away from him and Shade. As she spoke to him in that uncaring manner, it sounded so
easy
for her to tell him she nor Laud loved him.
She’d just severed her ties to the pack, and now this on top of that, she was making her point in full and, in a way, he couldn’t misunderstand her and he knew it. He could hardly believe she’d been gone for a month, and he’d not noticed it at all.
When he’d called her, she’d told him she was in the city or at a meeting, was in the pack if he was in the city, or she was in the city if he was in the pack, she had lied to him in full, at every turn without so much as batting an eyelid, and he’d not even picked up on it.
The tone she was using now wasn’t the tone she’d always had throughout their mate bond; she was cold and indifferent towards him. “This is what I want, in full and on the record, Anthony…” Mischa stated. “Do not reject Christy, I do not ask you to do that, you Alpha Anthony accepted her, you marked and mated her, you have stood by her in everything she has done.
“To me, to us, to drive us apart, I documented everything in full detail. Even when she showed traitorous behavior towards me, your first Mate. You betrayed me at every turn. It was not her. She and I aren’t bonded at all, never were, so any kind of betrayal between you and I, is your doing, not hers.
“So, you may keep her by your side as your Mate and Luna, as you accepted her by the will of the Goddess. I do not ask you to break your bond with her. I have never interfered in your bond with her, stepped aside to give you what it is you want, because you had two Mates, and it was your right to spend time with whoever you wanted to.
“I just never thought you’d shove me aside the way you did and betray me so completely. I thought our bond was stronger than that, tried to believe it was just a rough patch in the beginning, but in the end, you were not the man I thought you were. Shade is not the Alpha Wolf, Laud thought he was either.
“Both you and your beast betrayed us in full at every turn in the end. You did this to us, not Christy. I may have actively incited Christy into doing things to herself, but I never separated you, I never caused trouble between you two. So, stay with her, have her raise your pups and whether you give her the title of Luna or claim those pups as your heirs or not.
“That is solely up to you, not me. For the record, I will not be a part of your decision. You can make that all on your own, be accountable for your choices and actions for once, instead of
CR 189
shoving the blame onto Christy or myself, when in fact, it’s actually your own doing, all of it! Because what happened could only happen if you allowed it to happen in the first place,” she told him.
He’d tried to show her he cared by telling her he’d do as she wanted from now on, that she would hold all the cards and here she was telling him she no longer wanted to hold them, she wasn’t going to plead with him or even tell him what to do to get her back.
“I’m not coming back to you, I will never come back to Night Whispers. It’s a pack filled with my and Lauds’ pain and suffering; all of which is at your hands. From the first broken promise to me, to the betrayal of our Mate Bond, by your willingness to abandon me to my heat, to spend it with your other Mate, who self-induced that heat with her own pheromones by the way.
“In order to see you not tend my heat and pull you away from me. To show me who you loved more, and well… it did exactly that now, didn’t it… you made that choice all on your own, admitted it to the Elders as part of the investigation to clear my name when she implied I was trying to harm her and you accused me of it.
“It was you that made every decision to get up and walk away from me and go to her. So now you can go to her, be with her and have a clear conscience… No more do I care, point of fact.” She stated, and he heard what he thought was a smile in her voice, that was odd to him until those next words came from her lips to his ears.
“I’m currently pregnant with my new Alpha’s pup and heir. He tended my heat and the Goddess granted me a pup from it.”
