Mischa

She’d woken up to find herself sleeping there curled up against Declan, he’d been wearing pajamas. For although he’d brought her to his suite and put her in his bed. He’d known and accounted for the pains of betrayal to the one still bonded to her she knew. Not that it mattered, she knew he’d feel nothing at all anymore.

She’d watched Declan sleep for a long time, and when she’d sat up slowly trying not to wake him, his bod rolled towards hers and his hand had reached out for her in his sleeping state, she’d felt her heart flutter just that one small thing. It was kind of stupid, she thought to herself to get emotional about just a simpl gesture of him looking for her in his sleep.

It was what all Mates did. Their bodies, even in sleep, looked for each other, they rolled with each other s that their Mate was always comfortable, and they wanted to lay hands on their Mate, keep the connection between them even when sleeping.

She blinked away tears as they welled up with the fluttering of her heart. It felt like forever since she’d had anyone reach for her, since anyone wanted her by their side. She’d thought it was something she’d never ever have again, and yet here it was, and it warmed her heart as he settled right there in the bed, hugged her a little in his sleep and relaxed once more.

She’d sat herself up and was leaning on the padded headboard, and he was now lying with his head in her lap, and an arm curled all the way around her ‘He’s a hugger. Laud chortled softly inside her mind.

‘I like that.’ Misha had smiled, she more than liked it, wanted him to be, and she reached out gently to slide her hand through his hair. It was thick and longish and her hand was lost in the waviness of it, and she smiled. She’d wanted her Mate to have hair she could grip on to.

‘He’s everything you ask for,’ Laud told her.

‘As is Wild for you! Misha returned. She wondered briefly if she could slip out of this bed to go and speak with Selena, to thank her for gifting this man and his beast to them. He was Nicholas approved, and now Selena approved as well. She didn’t think, after all she’d been through, that Selena would gift her another man and a wolf that would treat her as her former Mate had.

‘We need to thank Selena.’ She told Laud.

‘Maybe she is thanking us for what we did, bringing that fairy’s knowledge to the wolves. Now many of her creatures can be helped. Perhaps Mish, our Goddess, is thanking us and doesn’t want a thank you in return, Laud stated thoughtfully.

‘Hmm, but still, we should get up and thank her’ It was only right, she thought, it had been they who had asked for Selena’s help and received it, they who had asked for her to gift them a new Mate and one to their liking, but it was Selena that had given him to them.

Laud snorted inside her mine ‘We get up from this bed, Wild will wake up. Track you even out to that balcony, I imagine. Possessive beast of a Mate he will be.”

She smiled and nodded. It was only a week until the full moon, so she could thar Selena then Though as she sat there, she smiled and closed her eyes and sent up a silent thank you. ‘Thank you, Selena, for

gifting him to us. We will cherish him for as long as he is loyal and loves us.

Then she looked down at him as the first rays of light touched the sky. This was the first time she’d woker up with her Mate next to her in nearly two years, and she smiled as she thought about that, and looked at the way he was curled around them. He was her Mate and no longer would she or Laud ever sleep alone.

She didn’t doubt Declan’s words to her and what he’d stated he wanted from her and Laud. They weren’t even bound to her by the mate bond, but he’d pledged his heart and soul, his mind and body to her, even though he barely knew her, he and his beast liked her and Laud.

She and Laud had already accepted him, even before feeling those sparks of a mate bond on their skin, her wolf had chosen his for the wolf she wanted to mate herself too, otherwise she’d never have played with him knowing it was going to get them mated by his wolf in human form.

Their choice had been made before the mate bond kicked in for them. Love before a mate bond and on both sides of their beasts, and she knew it, they’d already agreed to become Chosen Mates; only Selena had taken it one step further for them.

She’d seen nothing over her time here to say he was not a good person, and she knew that Nicholas woul have chosen carefully for her himself, knew that some wolves out there would use and abuse a Luna-ranked wolf, not Declan, he’d offered up his pack for sanctuary and meant it.

Finding a safe haven for Lunas on the run could be difficult. So, she knew that Nick had chosen carefully. She knew Nick trusted this man and his wolf, and now the goddess had gifted them to her. She was going to have to tell Nick, he was likely to laugh about it and tell her, of course he had.

She’d seen what the pack was like and that it ran like a well-oiled machine over the weeks she’d been here, all the pack members were happy and comfortable. She’d seen that the pack was doing well, and she knew just how wealthy it was now as well. No one here wanted for anything, even the omegas all had a good education and good jobs, they earned decent money and were treated well.

Yesterday, before that game of hunt the prey, she’d sat down with him and Lisa, their units, and she’d heard how he’d been raised, how he’d gotten this pack. He’d told her all about himself, that his pack was nothing like her former pack it was debt free and likely would never run into debt regardless of how much money- anyone spent.

She was not going to be needed to manage pack funds. Not only did he have a fully staffed accounting department here in the pack, but he’d also expanded and had an accounting firm in the city that humans used, which was one of the major businesses he owned.

So, both the human and otherworldly accounts were covered. All she needed to do was to be happy and relaxed, find something she wanted to do with her time when not in the Luna’s office.

That it could be anything at all she wanted to do. Including getting that Law degree. Though she had concerns about that now, being she’d be a mother of a young pup, their pup would barely be six months old and that university she was prepping for expected first-year students to live on campus. She didn’t know if that was going to be possible, she doubted it.

She alss wasn’t willing to live for a year away from her Mate or their pup, but she supposed she could look at other law schools and see if there was one local that would have her be able to commute. She still wanted to do that. Declan had smiled at her when she’d brought it up, and stated we can look at that.

Then he told her that once they were marked and mated, all she really needed to do was just be herself

here inside the pack, find a school that suited her needs, and to apply for it when she was ready. He’d stated that Kitty and Serena were very efficient, and he was certain, from all he’d seen of Carol, so was she. That between the four of them they could divide up the Luna’s duties and have all their work done by lunchtime each day.

That her unit could handle the pack’s Luna’s Duties while she was off attending her degree as well in the future, and those women had nodded at her and told her it would be no different to how it had been before she came here. They were all good with that.
