Anthony

It had been the Elders and, from what all he’d now read; not even he could blame them for what they did to Christy, because, yes, what they did actually proved Christy was in fact guilty, so them doing that to her, regardless of the fact that she was his Mate and Luna. It was just them getting to the very bottom of the original crime back in November, and nothing more.

He couldn’t believe just how much went down inside this very pack that he knew nothing about. Christy was never going to change, that he was now certain of. The proof of that was now something very simple. It was seen by him that even without Mischa here and of no threat to Christy whatsoever, she’d still said things to him to make him think Mischa was still there inside this pack at times.

And why? All so he wouldn’t know she’d left him, and turn on her, because it was her fault that Mischa had left, and she knew it, so she’d deflected and stopped him from knowing Mischa wasn’t inside this pack. He wondered how long she would have played that game if she’d not been there to hear Nicholas state Misha wasn’t within the Rising Blue Lotus; that she had in fact left him, and he didn’t know where she was.

Would Christy just continue to say it every few days? Interrupt others answering his question, to try and get it past him, so he wouldn’t notice, he thought about that very thing as he sat there. Why would she still do that? It was an oddity because there was clearly no need for it, she’d already won.

Mischa had left and wasn’t coming back, his brain ticked and the only conclusion that he could come up with was because of how he and Shade had reacted to Christy herself when Mischa was gone from this. pack. Back in April, when he had, for the first time, truly felt the breaking of his bond with Mischa and Shade had also felt the full separation from Laud. That ache inside his chest had not only bloomed but gotten worse with every day that passed.

It had then been compounded on by Mischa going off the grid, and no one, not Paul, not her unit, certainly not himself, had any idea of where she was. Then she wouldn’t take his calls or answer his text messages because of what Christy herself had done; told Mischa she wasn’t going to let her speak with Anthony at

all.

Mischa had ghosted him completely, showing him she didn’t actually care to even explain herself or tell him where she was if she was alright? Their fractured and broken bond had been thrust upon him to be felt for the very first time, with how far away she had been from him. Everyone inside this pack had known it as well, and he’d not liked it, he’d thought she was leaving him.

That very thought had seen him take his anger out on Christy and why, because deep down inside he did know that Christy was the reason that saw them be not only apart, but she was also the main reason that he and Mischa were at odds all the time.

Though he wasn’t like that right now, and though he was suffering from constant pain in his chest, that was because he could feel their bond was broken and knew nothing was going to save it right now, it was being ripped apart right now by that very knowledge. But for the past month of her being gone, he hadn’t felt that, because he was stupid enough to still think she’d been in and out of the pack at times, because Christy had stated that, so he believed Mischa was still living here. That they were just separated as per what was their norm, and so he hadn’t turned on Christy like he had that first time? but he should have felt it all this time that was a curiosty to him now.

No ache-in chest to cause us pain and realize she gone from us.’ Shade huffed.

“That means she’s not that far away from us then, Anthony mused as he thought about that very thing, that ache told you how far you were from your loved one. The further away, the more one felt it and noticed it, couldn’t ignore it.

‘A day’s drive only,’ Shade told him, as his own beast thought about it as well. It was the only plausible answer. She was still close enough to them not to see that ache affect him. Christy had also figured this out, so had played her hand at keeping him from knowing she’d left him and without the ache he simply had, he was so very stupid, it seemed.

Had Mischa done that on purpose, stayed closed so he also wouldn’t feel it and therefore wouldn’t notice or hunt for her, or was it just a mere coincidence? He didn’t know, but he supposed he could figure it out, just go north until he felt that, ache, then west and east until and an arc could be drawn on a map, and ther he could roughly pinpoint where she was.

He turned back to the diary and there was even less in it after that. She lived in her accountant’s office or her suite, attended Luna Blessings for the pack and stayed completely out of his line of sight, because she was trying to go unnoticed by him and she managed it completely.

He didn’t have anything at all to do with her after that, not even so much as a mind-link to her. She’d written she could walk by him, be in a room with him and, as long as he didn’t look directly at her, he didn’t even pick up her scent or know if she was in a room with him in those last few months of her being here.

Proof of that was easy because he blinked in complete shock at seeing her there before him, because he’d not known she was. The day shit hit the fan, when Paul had been yelling at him in the foyer, she’d stood there watching. He’d not known she was right there barely a few meters from where he was.

He turned the page and there was only one short sentence written there and nothing more. He knew it was the last page to be read, and her last entry was written ‘October 18, 2026 Laud and I agree, It’s time to go.” There was nothing after that. He flipped the pages. They were all blank, and she’d been gone two days later, according to what she’d said to him.

He closed the diary and just sat there, in that destroyed study, she’d had three years of pain and suffering and at both his and Christy’s hands, he could no longer push all the blame on to Christy, but he knew it all started from the very first moment of him scenting Christy and not stopping to think it through.

He had destroyed his mate bond day by day, and it all started with him not acknowledging Mischa’s feelings and thoughts on him getting a second Mate. Him being so very blinded by the scenting out of a second Mate that he’d not stopped to do what all Alpha’s would normally do, in a situation like he’d found himself in.

Wait to mark and mate his new Mate, have her in the pack for a week or a month to see what she was like. What kind of personality she had? Was she accepting of the situation, or was she going to be petty and jealous and cause trouble between him and his first Mate?

His downfall and all that was happening now was because he simply thought Selena had blessed him a second time. Their pack lived by the will of the Goddess, so accepting Christy was that simple to him He’d not thought for a single second it would bring trouble for him or his pack. Maybe it was the will of the Goddess to test them and see if he and Shade were truly worthy of the one they’d originally been gifted.

It was likely he was already lacking as a Mate by then and as he stood up he was certain he was, because Mischa ran so much more of this pack than he did. Even before Christy had come along. She worked

longer, harder hours than he did, which she, as the Luna should never do, yet she did; his day was always over before hers.

She was the glue to hold it all together and without her there was no way he, on his own, could have keep the pack up and running, let alone bring it back into a good standing. It had fallen apart the moment he’d seated Christy in that Luna’s office, and she started making decisions all on her own.

Decisions that did not revolve around the health and well-being of the pack members, as Mischa, himself, and both their units did, no she made decisions that were only to benefit herself and no one else. She didn’t even take into consideration how he would feel about what she did or was doing. Just like he didn’t where Mischa was concerned, maybe that was Selena’s point only he’d not seen it.
