Declan
He stood smiling at Misha; she had just finished getting dressed, it was just after 10am and they’d been in bed all morning. She’d told him she could feel the sparks of a newly formed mated bond on her skin. She had been able to since Wild had kissed Laud, and he’d not even
for a second, not believed her.
He knew she would never lie to him about such an important thing, he also knew she wasn’t out to cause her former Mate pains of betrayal on purpose. She was happy to wait until they became Chosen Mates, as was he. It was only their beasts that didn’t seem to want to wait.
She’d been brought pajamas not that he’d put her in them, but Carol had dropped off something for her to wear today as well. She’d showered and pulled on a lovely knit dress to wear in a soft cream. It was quite simple but had side ruching to enhance her waist, and it showed just a little cleavage. It fell to her knees; it was lovely on her, and he stood and watched her brush her hair out.
“It’s a bit cold out today. As lovely as you look, perhaps something a little warmer would be good,” he offered up.
She turned and smiled at him. “I don’t really feel the cold, Laud and I slept with the windows open most of last winter, sometimes all the balcony doors as well.”
“Why?” he asked curiously.
“To freeze our heart and learn to feel nothing,” she told him simply, as if it was of no consequence at all.
But for one to do that, they must have been in great pain, and wanting to completely numb themselves to it. “I’m sorry, Mish.” He murmured and walked over to her, slid his arms around her. “You should never have had to go through something like that.”
She smiled up at him in the mirror before her and stated, “But if I didn’t, how could I have helped the Moon Goddess to help all the others out there, like myself?” She held up that bangle to him. “I think she knew I was stubborn enough not to just leave, to want to find a way on my own to stop a heat and not just reject and leave as most would.
“I think she needed someone like me, to help her to help her creatures and that is why I went through all of it. To see how they felt, so I would be so very determined to fix the problem, and now I have.”
He watched her look down at her bangle and smile, and his own hand moved to it. “You can

take it off now, you’ll never need it anymore.” He told her and slipped it from her wrist and placed it on the dressing table before her. “Only if I am in the kingdom or away at an Alpha meeting. And to be honest, those things bore me to tears. If your heat is due across one of them, I’ll send a letter to state I’m not attending due to that very thing, and be excused.”
His mouth touched her neck in a soft kiss. “I’d much rather be here in this bed with you, or out in the woods with you than in some Alpha meeting.”
He saw her reach out and touch it. “But it is something I chose for myself. I like it simple but elegant, and it won’t affect anything about me until the day the heat comes. What if I want to wear it just because I actually like it, not because I want to stop the heat?” She asked him. and looked at him again. “The heat will still come, and I can just take it off then.”
“You want to keep wearing it?” he asked.
“Mm, I guess I do. I bought it for myself. This one piece is actually more expensive than the Luna Jewelry I was given as well.”
That made him frown. “Are you kidding me?” He picked it up and looked at it, turned it over and checked the jeweler marking and the grade of the gold. “It’s like what, 10 grand?” He shook his head.
“Not quite,” Mish admitted “But it’s all me. I chose it and I want to keep it.”
“You may, but how about not all the time, just every day wear, I’ll buy you jewelry to wear out and about to functions and other packs we’ll be attending. As for your Luna’s jewelry, if you’d permit me to choose you something I think will suit you. I’ll keep this piece in mind, of course, you like simple elegance I see.”
“I do, there is no need for things to be all flashy. I’d much rather something you choose with your heart than something you buy just to have it make a statement of wealth. Now…” she turned around and looked up at him. “Your pack colors are?”
“White, dark and light grey. Just like the moon,” he told her.
“Then I will wear something suitable for the full moon.” She stated,
“Wear whatever you like and is comfortable. Your Luna Ceremony, though, you should start prepping and planning for that.” He took her hand, and they headed for the bedroom doorway. “Though,” he looked at her. “You’ll be showing by then, I can well imagine, you’re only very tiny in stature. Likely to show earlier than most…”
He looked right at her as he thought about that very thing; just how tiny she was. “You know we might also have to have a plan of action for you to birth our pup. If it’s a boy and large like me, you might not be able to have a natural birth. But if it’s a girl, and she’s tiny like you,

maybe not such a problem.” he mused.
25 Pants!
She looked up at him, “I don’t think that will be a problem. Selena did gift you to me, so I think it will be fine.”
“I’ll not take any chances, Mish. You and Laud will be protected from every risk there is for a Luna, and not just in childbirth, but out there in the human world as well. I’ll start working on that today, your risk assessment, and by the time our little one is here, you’ll be perfectly safe no matter what you’re doing or where your going.”
She frowned a little and stopped walking. “What is your main business? I never did ask.
He smiled, “Risk management for new housing development, resorts or business districts, even new town placement and for the wolfen world pack placement.”
“Oh.” She murmured.
“Don’t you worry, I know how to prep and plan for all manner of threats and risks to not only my businesses and my pack, but now you, my Luna as well.”
“Goddess, I’m going to be wrapped up in bubble wrap,” she snorted as they headed downstairs to get food.
He chuckled softly. “I’m not going to be that bad, but your car, and something you wear will be lo-jacked in full, and I want a tracking app on your phone too. If anyone tries to take you away from me, I will know where you are and come for you, slaughter them all to get you
back.
“And if they harm you, their death will be as slow and agonizingly painful as is possible, but don’t look at this, as I will be obsessively keeping track of you, I won’t be. You’ll still have your full freedom to move about your life as you want to. They are just there for safety measures, and you’ll be able to use that app to track me as well. It goes both ways,” he assured her.
He’d gotten himself a Mate and Luna or would have come the full moon, and he was going to be prepping to make sure nothing ever happened to her. He plated up all the food she smiled at, and then they sat to eat. He’d taken the morning off to spend it with her but would head into the office for the afternoon.
Was going to try and not smother her, though the moment he thought that Wild arced up about leaving the pack almost instantly, and Declan reminded him they had to get to work on making sure there would be no risks taken at all. The first thing he was going to have to prep and plan for was the pup she was carrying coming safely into this world.
They were pure-blooded, and she was warrior ranked, he reminded Wild, and with just how very tiny she was, that could create problems, no different really to that of an omega mating
to an elite and the pup being too large to birth.
