The Eclipsed Life of Luna Mischa (by Jennifer Francis) novel Chapter 27

CH 27

She slept soundly in her bed that night, regardless that her Alpha Mate was not only cuffed by silver, she knew because she’d felt him be cut from her, but also knew he was locked up in the pack cells. It should be something that had made her restless and unable to sleep; just knowing he was like that.

But not only was she used to sleeping alone, she was also used to him never really being by her side anymore during the days that passed by here inside the pack. She also wanted to see him punished, which showed him how broken their bond actually was.

He’d thought things were uncomfortable in her suite prior to him leaving it, that she’d pulled away from him and didn’t trust him anymore. Now he knew the full extent of it, and what he’d felt in that one moment after he’d taken Christy into her suite, was now a full reality to him,

His apologies meant nothing to her, because his word to her was always broken, so why would she believe he was sorry for anything at all? That their broken bond wasn’t just about the way he’d left her; in that moment of her heat.

That it stemmed from his constant neglecting of her and putting Christy first always, which was now proven beyond a doubt that he did and freely and willingly of his own choice; just like she’d thought he did. He couldn’t claim anymore that it was difficult to have two Mates, not when he’d just admitted to staying with Christy even knowing that it would cause Mischa pain.

He’d just shown her how right she was about their bond and who he truly wanted to be with. There was no getting around it anymore. She’d voiced it, and he’d proved it by his actions alone. She’d told him to just reject her and keep Christy because that was what he wanted deep down inside, but he wouldn’t. She thought he was too much of a coward to do it was all.

She woke well rested and even smiled when she stepped out onto her balcony and saw that there was a light dusting of snow on the ground below. It was going to be cold out there on those shaming posts, and it could well snow heavily at some point over any of the nights or days to come.

Those two would have to endure the bitter coldness of it all. Once out there, they had to suffer the weather, whether it was the bonechilling cold of a winter’s snow or the scorching heat of a hot summer’s day with no cloud cover.

If there was a light rain or an absolute downpour. Hail was the only thing that would see them be granted shelter and that only came by way of a piece of Lshaped plank of wood for them to sit under to protect them from the hail, nothing more.

Though she did know in this weather at this time of year that they would be given a silver cuff that was padded around the cuff itself so that the metal wouldn’t get so cold that it adhered to the skin. Making it difficult to remove when it was time to come off those shaming posts.

This also allowed for them to have their wolves with them all the time, which would keep them warm on those very cold nights, but they still couldn’t use their wolfen strength to break the chain, and find a warm

אף

place to be out of the weather.

The chain part of those cuffs, and the outside of the cuff weren’t padded only the inside of the cuff on their wrist was. So, if they touched the chain or outside of the cuff, it cut them from their wolf as any silver did.

She dressed in simple black slacks and a black threebutton vest, pulled her hair up into a neat bun and slipped on a pair of good grip black work boots, what she walked about in, in the winter snow. Today she was dressed for the occasion of punishment.

She would show this pack her somber side and that this was not a moment for her to relish in, or that she was going to take any joy from it. It was, in fact, a serious matter, and she was attending the punishment as per the pack Eldersrequest.

lash

It had been the Elders that had deemed she would be the one to lash her Alpha Mate, five times with the pack’s silver barbed cat of five tails, not something she had chosen for herself. That she’d simply accepted the judgment and would follow through with the formal punishment of her Alpha Mate and nothing more.

Mischa would have been just fine with him issuing a rejection of her and walking away from the pack after accepting it. Going off to find a new life for herself to live out there in some other pack. Although, at the same time, she’d also wanted to stay here inside the pack as welljust to see how things would turn out for Christy in the future.

Her staying here and remaining mated to Anthony when she knew she was going to leave him in the future, just meant that nothing had changed for her was all. She was likely to be alone in her suite or office just as she had been prior to all this happening, and that was something she was used to.

So it didn’t really concern her all that much, and that was the real problem in itself, that she knew all these things about herself and what her life was going to be like even after that punishment was over and done with. She wasn’t particularly upset about it, somewhat annoyed but at the same time kind of resigned to the fact as well.

She’d told Anthony she didn’t know if she hated him, but she was indifferent to him. Did that mean she didn’t love him anymore? He’d certainly taken it that way, and she wasn’t willing to sit and explore that side of herself right this minute, because what if she did? Would she become a willing glutton and just be someone he could walk all over instead of respecting?

It kind of looked like that now, and she knew it, because she wasn’t a spiteful person and wouldn’t go out of her way to destroy another mate bond like Christy did. If Anthony chose to be with that shewolf all the time and ignore her, then what could she do about it? Force his hand and try to force him to love her once

more.

She knew you couldn’t make someone love you or want you. So there was actually nothing she could do. She was still here doing her job as the pack’s Luna, as she had been for 22 years, nothing about her had changed at all. He was the one to have changed with the getting of a new Mate, she wondered as she sipped her coffee if Christy’s venom that flowed through his veins was making him more like her.

Chaiy

She did know one could change with the venom of another, take on their tendencies and attitude, see their point of view change over time to align with the one that had marked them. That is what she thought was probably happening. Likely one of the reasons he saw no problem with spending less time with her and more time with Christy.

Though she did have a feeling that the punishment Anthony had stated he would give to Christy was going to eat at him with every passing day. Because if that shewolf was pregnant with his pup, and he willingly destroyed it. That wasn’t going to sit well with his second Luna, who was, it appeared to her, completely desperate to give him an heir.

The part of Anthony that saw this as a way to make amends to herself, wouldn’t reject it, but the part of him that loved Christy was going to hate it after it happened, and he’d be all about making it up to Christy. Once their punishment was over, and they were off those shaming posts, and he needed to bring Christy back to him.

Christy was going to be more than angry about it, she would be filthy mad, seeing as she had done this to herself, and all for what Mischa believed now, was to just try and conceive an heir before Mischa did. Only when she heard that part of her punishment today; to have even the possibility of carrying his heir removed from her.

By Anthony himself, that it was solely his decision, and it had been documented in full, recorded on video footage to prove it was all him. She’d seen that Kendrick had written his statement about the Alpha’s own words and what punishment he thought was appropriate for his second Mate and Luna, who tried to harm his first Mate and Luna.

It was all documented so that when that moment came that Christy tried to come at her and blame her for her pup being destroyed, there was full evidence from all involved in that meeting that it had absolutely nothing to do with her and that it was Anthony alone that made the decision to rid her of the possibility of caring his heir to the pack at this time.

Mischa even knew that after all this, Christy was going to play on that very thing to get Anthony to beg her to forgive him for what he’d done. His punishment of her. She could go right back to saying he didn’t love her like he did Mischa. Play the insecure, unloved Mate for weeks or months to make him feel guilty over the punishment she’d taken. Christy would use it to her advantage in the end.

Mischa stepped out of her suite when it was time for that formal meeting, to be held in the ballroom. She found Paul waiting for her outside her new suite. He leaned off the wall, Got yourself a proper locked door, that not even Anthony can access without you telling him the code. I presume you changed it, so there would be no Christy in there.”

Correct. She nodded. He didn’t miss much, he was a good Gamma to her. Did you read it?she asked simply.

I did, stayed up late to finish it all as well. Carol fell asleep, her head in my lap.Paul nodded as he fell into step with her. It was not only interesting, but a full eyeopener into what possibly went down here in this very packWhat I took from it,

is that you’re waiting to see if she’s still willing to injure herself in her need to keep Anthony away from you, at your next heat. And how many times she’s willing to do this to herself, over the coming years, which will end up with her having multiple heats that can’t be explained right?he asked.

Mm, though I believe this will be the only time she uses her own pheromones if she’s not as dumb as I think she is, that is. Though there is a possibility that she thinks she just injected too much of her own pheromones into herself, so she just reduces the dose hoping the effects will be negated.Mischa told him her thoughts on it.
