Christy’s Heat Comes
Her weekend down in the Rising Blue Lotus, was something Mischa not only felt she needed, but actually deserved as well. After all she’d been through, getting away from the pack and Christy for even a few days would be good for her.
Anthony had dropped her off himself that Saturday night just before 10pm, though the drive had passed with a fair amount of silence, they really didn’t have that much to talk about if it wasn’t pack–related. She wasn’t inclined to talk to him about Christy and how things were going, and he clearly was trying not to bring her up at all.
That just left pack talk, because he tried to fill in his time with her about what he’d done that day, what she’d done herself, and their days after 22 years, were all relatively the same if everything was going well for the business‘ and the pack. She’d shut him down on the pup talk quickly, when he’d brought it up, reminded him of the rule she’d put on it.
He got out of the car and walked round to open her door. When they reached the packhouse of Nicholas and Lucinda’s pack, both of them were standing outside waiting for them to arrive. She smiled at them both and Anthony greeted them before turning to her and touching her face gently. He smiled at her. “Have a good spa weekend, our War General and two Elites will pick you up Monday, aiming to get here between 2 and 3pm.”
She nodded at him, she already knew that, then he kissed her forehead and looked at
Nicholas. “Keep her safe,” he’d stated.
“Not many breach my borders,” Nicholas had responded simply. “It’s a death sentence to all rivals.”
Anthony had nodded and looked at her once more before walking back to his car and leaving her there. Nicholas had sighed and shaken his head. “He drove you all the way here, and at this hour just returns to your pack. He could have spent the night. Going back to his other Mate, is he?”
She watched Lucinda hit him. “Enough you.” she murmured.
“No, he’s right on one account, the other is well, we’ve got separate rooms and Anthony doesn’t want you seeing he’s currently not allowed to sleep in the same room as me.”
“It’s that bad, huh?” Nicholas shook his head. “What is wrong with him?”
She’d shrugged, “Tomorrow is also his day with Christy. So, he’s going back for that,” even though she knew their days with him weren’t set to roll over at midnight, otherwise how could he spend an entire night in one of their beds? His day with either of them started at 7am and ended at 5am the following day when he got up for training.

“Yes, tomorrow is her day, and regardless of not sleeping in the same bed, he could have stayed here to show you he wanted to be here with you.” Nicholas muttered. He was, it appeared, taking offense on her behalf.
“Shoo.” Lucinda shoved at him to walk into the packhouse.
“It’s fine, Lucinda,” Misha stated. “Nicholas just sees it how it actually is, and doesn’t hold back is all. He’s never liked Christy from the get–go.”
“Neither do you.” Lucinda nodded, “But I know you tried to get along with her and don’t interfere in her and Anthony’s bond. Perhaps you should.” She stated, “Now enough of that, I’ve put you up on the top floor, so that you’re close to me and the girls. No need to hunt us down at any time you’re here.”
They walked inside, and her eyes were drawn to the portrait in the foyer. It was large and hung to draw everyone’s attention to it, a painting of Nicholas, Jeremy, Kevin and Braidy, all standing behind their Mates, dressed formally in their pack suits, with Lucinda, Faylan, Phoebe and Amy standing in front of them. Each had an arm around their Mate, and those girls were also wearing formal dresses.
They were all smiling in that portrait, and she knew from a previous visit that one of their allied Luna’s, who was an artist, had painted this portrait at Nicholas‘ request. She also knew there was a portrait of Lucinda next to her wolf, Ky’ra, in the Luna’s office, and one of Nick and Rip in his. The two individual portraits were going to be hung along the first floor hall when they stepped down and their daughter Selena took over. That was going to be their pack’s tradition for guests to see the former Alpha and Luna’s as the generations passed.
“I’d give you Jo–anne’s number but…” Lucinda trailed off.
“I don’t need a portrait of the three of us. Anthony might like it, but neither Christy or I would appreciate it.” Mischa shook her head. Though she supposed he could put it in his own Suite, seeing as it was just his now. Though how long that would remain she was yet to see.
“Has it got so bad?” Lucinda asked.
“Hmm, I’m dealing with it, my way.” Mischa nodded. She had nothing to hide, she’d done nothing wrong. Nicholas would also have relayed what he’d seen and heard over the course of the mating ball to his Luna.
“Nick told me to expect you any day now. He thinks something very untoward happened inside your pack.” Lucinda murmured, “I don’t really want to believe that but…”
“It did,” Mischa stated honestly. “It’s been dealt with, I’m letting it go for now. I have my own plans for the future. Please don’t concern yourself with it. I’ll also call and let you both know if it gets worse, or comes about again. Regardless of what happens, it will be a few years

Sunday consisted of a soak in an aromatherapy spa, a full body exfoliation and body wrap, a soothing scalp massage, and a Bergamot and Lotus hair treatment. Where she drank a nice champagne and ate fresh fruits and chocolates with Lucinda and her unit.
Monday, she had a full body massage that started with the hot stone massage she’d requested, and a foot soak and paraffin foot treatment, before getting her nails done with Lucinda and the girls. The five of them were completely relaxed, and she found herself able to not think about her pack at all while she was away from it.
She didn’t have to watch what she said to anyone, or try and read into things said to her, or between the lines. Not once did she feel as though she had to put her guard up. There was no one here plotting or planning against her inside this pack.
Here, she realized just how much tension she was under inside her own pack, a place she should feel safe all the time, but no longer did. She felt it all kind of just ease away with every stroke of massage, and she realized she’d almost forgotten completely what it was like to be inside a pack where you were not only seen, but acknowledged and respected by all.
She’d returned to the Night Whispers Pack. A pack named after the sound the prairie grass made when the breeze blew, and they all rustled about. It had sounded like people whispering at night to the founder of the pack.
Anthony was waiting for her out the front of the packhouse. He made his way down the stairs as she got out of the car and smiled at her, “Did you have a nice time?” he asked.
“Yes, it was very relaxing.” She nodded as he hugged her and she and Laud picked up Christy’s scent on his clothes. It might be her day to be with him, but she wasn’t there inside the pack, so he’d spend his time after being in the office with Christy. It was acceptable, she supposed, and so she didn’t say anything to him about it.
But she recalled that last week, he’d not come to her once with Christy’s scent on him, he had been making a real effort to keep them completely separate from each other. That was past now, she could only guess.
“I organized dinner for us in the private dining room,” he stated.
“Oh, sorry I completely forgot, the boys and I ate on the way home,” she told him.
“We were supposed to have dinner when you got home tonight. It’s our day to be together,” Anthony muttered.
“Mm, I was so relaxed that it slipped my mind was all.” It hadn’t slipped her mind. She’d heard a stomach growl in the car on the way back and told the boys to stop for dinner was all, but

she didn’t want him to be annoyed with Issac or the Elites, so took the blame for it herself.
“What about dessert?” Anthony stated as he took her small suitcase and handed it off to an
omega.
She reached out and took it back. “You should be knocked off, according to the new schedule. I’ll take it to my office, go on home for the night,” Mischa told the omega.
“Yes, Luna.” The girl had stated.
She looked at Anthony. “I could eat cake, and why is she working at this hour?” she asked as she walked her luggage to her office and rolled it inside.
“We were to have a private dinner,” he answered.
She nodded, that she supposed couldn’t be helped. She walked to the dining room and sat down, to have cake. “How are things in Nicholas‘ pack?” Anthony asked.
“Good, everyone is happy, Lucinda is having a boy. Nicholas is happy about that, not so outnumbered is what he stated.” She chuckled a little. “He loves his daughters but is happy to have another son. Selena is really starting to look like Lucinda, got her stare down pat too, she’s very cute.”
“Our pups will be adorable too.” Anthony smiled.
“Mm.” she nodded.
“Why is it you react like that? Every time I bring up the subject of us having pups. Do you not think about it at all anymore? You and I having a pup?” Anthony frowned at her.
“On birth control. You and Christy will likely have one before you and I do,” she told him simply. She wasn’t going to risk any pup she had to that she–wolf.
“What if I don’t actually want that, what if I want us to have a pup first?” Anthony asked.
“Will of the Goddess,” Mischa reminded him.
“That only counts if you come off your birth control as well,” he muttered.
“We’ve discussed this previously, more than once now. I want to wait at least a year.”
“We’re financially stable Mischa.” He stared hard at her. “I think it’s time we had a pup.”
“That was my polite way of telling you in front of our allies, I’m not having a pup with you until I’m certain you can keep your word and not go back to ignoring me all over again. Only being with Christy.” She placed her fork down on the plate, she was done eating and didn’t want to discuss this topic anymore.

“Have a pup with Christy, it will make her very happy.” She got up. “I don’t want to argue about this, I still have painful memories of my last heat, and so I’m not at all ready to go there or discuss having pups that would normally come from a heat. Can’t you understand?”
Anthony sighed and nodded but said nothing at all.
“Christy’s natural heat is due next week. She’s ready to give you an heir, so let her do that,” Mischa stated flatly.
“She just had a heat, it’s unlikely to happen again this soon. She only has one heat a year,” he told her with a frown.
“Well, I hope it hasn’t shifted to when her last heat was, or I’ll only suffer again, won’t I! If we both go into heat at the same time once more,” Mischa muttered.
“No, you won’t.” Anthony huffed.
“Oh, so Christy will suffer then, will she?” She looked at him pointedly. “You shouldn’t want that… for her heat to shift. It will only cause more pain and lead to something that can’t be repaired. So, you should want her to go into heat next week, to show it hasn’t shifted permanently. That would be better for not only myself, but Christy and you as well… don’t you
think?”
“Yes.” He sighed.
