Mischa spent the following week split between the Luna’s office and her Accounting office, tracking and trending the new payroll system. Anthony had decided that he wanted to see a full six months of what happened inside the pack, before making any adjustments, roll it through not only winter, but spring and into summer as well.

He’d stated that perhaps things were a little different right now due to the cold weather and all the snow and so less things needed to be tended to. She’d not argued with him, just nodded and stated it was a fair call. Accepted it and stated she would continue to monitor it, because she didn’t have a problem with that.

Christy did, though, and Mischa heard her complain about it one morning as Christy walked with him from the dining room to his car, after breakfast. Mischa had been walking towards the Luna’s office herself. Christy complained that the clocking in and out made her feel as if she was being confined to the pack and watched or spied upon.

Mischa had shaken her head as she stepped out of the hallway and into the foyer. I don’t feel like that at all,” she’d stated as she’d walked past the pair of them, and she didn’t.

She’d worked her normal hours as the Luna, and then also been in her accountant’s office,

and seen herself work a 60hour week instead of the normal 40 hours and she’d been paid for it. She’d worked 12 hours a day for that week.

Yesterday and today, she’d worked 14hour days due to pups being born after working hours, and she’d gone down to the packs hospital and used her Luna’s Calm, to aid in what had been two long arduous labours, she wasn’t the only one down there Paul had also been there when she’d told him what was going on.

Christy turned and glared at her. Of course not. You never leave the pack, so what’s it matter to you? I have a social life outside the pack with Anthony.

Those very words had brought Anthony to a standstill. He was still trying to get Mischa to agree to attend that Gala, something Christy was unhappy about because Anthony had told her she was to stay in the pack, it would be Mischa out there for that, not Christy.

He was now staring at Christy for not only what she’d said, but also for the way she’d said it. Her words were insulting and bitten out with annoyance. Mischa had chuckled internally at seeing Christy realize she’d stated that out loud for all to hear, with Anthony right there.

Christy had looked at the annoyed expression on Anthony’s face after he’d come to a standstill, and then she’d huffed a little and cast her eyes down to the floor. I’m sorry, Tone, I just feelkind of like I’m grounded, I guess. She murmured you know how it is, when you

feel like that surely, you get annoyed and lash out is all, I didn’t meant it the way it came out. Just a bit grumpy is all.”

He’d frowned deeply at her. So what you’re actually saying is, that learning your job as a Luna is confining and annoying, is it?he’d asked and removed her hand from his arm.

No, Alpha wanted a Luna that wouldn’t do the job of actually being his Luna, and helping him manage his pack. That just showed they only wanted to be his Mate for the Title and the perks that it would bring them and nothing more.

She’d just showed her true colors to his face for the first time ever. Because that was exactly why she was unhappy, she was being made to attend and actually learn to do the job of being a Luna, and she didn’t want to. He’d hit the nail on the head.

She stood and watched from the Luna’s office doorway as Christy back peddled in a real hurry, No, of course not.She rushed out. I just meant thatwellshe looked at Mischa, who was smiling at her now. Mischa can track my every move, see what I earn and spend is all. I don’t do that to her,” Christy told him.

Mischa is the pack’s accountant; she’s always been able to do that, not just for you but for anyone with a pack card. Including myself, she knows exactly where, when and who I spend my money on. Do you see me getting upset about it? Why are you even upset by this, here and now, after two years of being here? She’s always been the one to press the button on all that get paid inside this pack, from pack fundsdo you want that job?he asked after a

moment’s pause.

Christy looked from Anthony to Mischa and then back to Anthony. She’d walked herself right into that one and all because Mischa had smiled at her, and Christy had wanted to wipe that smile from her face. Seems the girl still hadn’t learned how to play the game.

She can have the job after four years of fulltime university study and gaining a degree. I really don’t mind if she wants it. It’ll free up some time for me and I can go back to working just 40 hours a week, instead of 60, or at tax time 80 hours a week,” Mischa stated.

WWhat?Christy blinked.

I’ll get you an admissions form for the closest uni, to fill out for an online degree. You can start next semester if you’ve got the grades to be accepted, though being that you’re 20 already, you might have to sit and study for an entrance exam to see what your marks are, and you’re qualified to study,Mischa had stated.

Then, as she walked into her office, she’d tossed over her shoulder. Anthony, if you have a preference as to which uni, let me know. She smiled to herself and there was a slight happy bounce to her step.

Mischa had even gone so far as to produce admission papers for Anthony that night, when he’d come home from the pack’s head office, handed them right to him, and he’d frowned at her. “I don’t want anyone but you as the pack’s accountant,he’d stated.

Let Christy sit the entrance exam and see what she’s qualified to sign up for. Give the girl an education, she hasn’t got one at all. You know that, right? Let her find her nitch in the world and have a job outside that of being a Luna, like I do, she won’t feel so constrained and like she’s grounded, if she’s got a job outside the pack.she’d stated.

His frown deepened, but she’d just smiled and told him to have a nice evening and walked away from him, still happy with how her day had gone. She’d called Christy’s old pack, and they’d given her the girl’s former pack name and number, and she’d had the girl’s grades sent out. They were attached to that admission paperwork for Anthony to see; she was an average student, not dumb, but not super smart either.

Thursday came and Debbie hunted her down to tell her Christy hadn’t come back after lunch to her lessons, that she couldn’t connect a mindlink to her, that she believed she’d left the pack.

Leave it alone, as long as she’s clocked out,had been Mischa’s response.

She is,” Debbie stated. I have attached a note to her schedule: ‘Absent without reason, here prior to lunch didn’t return after lunch, did not inform me.Anthony will see it. We’re both linked to her schedule.

Mischa had just nodded and left it alone. It wasn’t her problem to deal with, though she’d taken a call from Christy two hours later, Why isn’t my card working?Christy grated out at

her.

“I don’t know, it’s active as far as I know,” Mischa had stated, Bring it to me, I’ll check it.

I’m not in the pack, I’m out shopping. Anthony told me to buy new lingerie, and the girl is telling me it’s declined.Christy snapped at her How can that be when it’s got no limit. Unless you tampered with it.Then she was quiet for a minute before just ending the call.

Mischa shook her head, and had gone back to work. Yes, go right to Anthony and let him know you’re not only out shopping when you should be attending Luna Lessons, and that I’ve put a limit on your card, something he already knows about, and she would have been informed of or should have been by him. That girl had hit her daily limit of $2000.

She watched Anthony come into the packhouse and walk Christy right into the Luna’s office to stand before her desk. Mish, Christy has something to say to you,he stated flatly.

About?she asked as she looked from him to Christy curiously.

An apology for accusing you of cutting off her access to pack funds on purpose because you’re still mad and spiteful about what happened. He grated out.

She moved her eyes to Christy, she really didn’t disappoint. It wasn’t just her in this office right now either, the Luna’s unit were all in here, helping her write reports on an instance of bullying between three students at the school. They’d all gone down to handle it as was their job.

Christy’s fist balled at her side, and she glared at Mischa for a moment before dropping her eyes away. I’m sorry. She murmured.

Anthony, did you not inform her of the new rules that you approved of, and signed off on yourself?she asked.

I believe Debbie did that,” Anthony answered. When giving her the clock in card, I also believe she has several hours to make up on her studies as well.He turned and looked at Christy. It wasn’t at all necessary for you to go shopping today. Tomorrow is your day off. It could have waited. I think we’ve already had words about you not wanting to attend Luna LessonsHe looked more than annoyed now.

If this happens again, I’ll seriously have to reconsider things. I don’t want a useless Luna that can’t understand the pack’s laws or be unable to do the job of looking after the pack when I’m not here, or when I’m tending to Mischa’s heat.

She’d watched Christy’s eyes go wide at that comment, as she understood he was actually seeing that she didn’t want to do the training, which meant she didn’t want the job. Fine, I won’t leave the pack at all until I’ve completed all the lessons to your satisfaction, Alpha.Christy had snapped and stalked from the Luna’s office.

She’d shaken her head, she had no one to blame bar herself for that one, she’d been warned before going to the cells, warned when coming out of the cells, and spoken to by Anthony himself just two days ago, the girl was too selfserving and narcissistic to realize she was the cause of her own problems.
