She felt Anthony, his unit and Christy all leaving the packhouse five minutes later and head off in the direction of the canyon. He’d still not seen that text, and hadn’t gone off to his or Christy’s room to go and collect his phone. Probably didn’t think that he needed it, seeing as it was Sunday and his day off.

But she had a feeling Paul or one of his unit were going to bring it up with him while out there at that canyon, show him that message, seeing as he had not bothered to tell them about it either. He wasn’t only keeping it from her, but from his own unit now. That was going to cause discord between himself and his own unit, not something one saw very often.

But again, that was just a consequence of his own actions. It would actually be expected of her to ask for an explanation, his unit wouldn’t read anything untoward into that. This one was all on Anthony, and he had no one to blame bar himself, couldn’t say it was her doing, couldn’t even blame that one on Christy, or him having two mates and it was difficult to deal

with at times.

She heard her doorbell chime barely 10 minutes after that, and sensed out who was at her door before deciding on if she wanted to open it or not. She felt Letti, Carol and Rebeccal were all out there. That was odd to her, they all had the code and could just come in. But were opting to wait for her to come and answer the door.

She walked over and opened the door and found all three of them dressed up a little as if they were going out. They all smiled at her, and Letti chuckled at seeing her still in her pj’s “A lazy day for you on your day off, is it?”

“Hmm, I have no plans to do anything really,” Mischa told them.

“Well you do now, go and put something nice on, we’re going out shopping for the afternoon.” Carol stated “Get your bag, it’s the Gamma’s order, that you, Luna Mischa, need a day out of the pack with your girls, and it’s your and our day off together, so what better day to do that. Though he also gave us tomorrow off if we wish to stay out late.” She smiled.

Mischa smiled and nodded. “Okay, I think that would be nice,” she nodded and went and changed out of her pj’s and dressed herself much like they were. She grabbed her handbag, and they all headed off out of the pack in Carol’s car a few minutes later.

As they drove out of the pack gates, Mischa asked, “What did Paul say?”

“If the Alpha is going to blatantly ignore Mischa on her day to spend time with him, then Mischa should blatantly ignore him in return. Then he told me to take you and the girls out. Anthony had lunch with Christy, so not to bring you back until well after dinner. You’ll be

having that with us. Then he slipped me his own pack card and told me to go crazy, and capture it all.” She chuckled.

Everyone in the car chuckled, including Mischa herself. “Alright, if it’s my Gamma’s order, and one for all of you as well, then how can I say no.”

“You can’t.” Rebecca smiled from the back seat. “None of us can.”

“On a side note, all your Mates got a text from me this morning. Alpha Nicholas of the Rising Blue Lotus threatened to cut ties with Anthony and the pack last night. Anthony put a call into Nicholas and had angry words with him, about staying out of our mate bond. So there could be annoyance from that coming from your own Mates.” She warned them about what they were likely all walking into when returning home.

Ah! That was why Paul had organized this day out. He was the only one in the know right now, likely Kendrick and Dereck had yet to grab their phones. Paul always had his on him and Carol always handed it to him right after training. He was the pack’s Gamma and teens that didn’t have wolves and those that couldn’t hold a mind–link needed a way to contact him if they were in distress.

There was likely going to be a yelling match between the Alpha and his unit if Anthony couldn’t sufficiently explain himself to them over why their biggest and strongest ally was cutting ties with them, or he was with Nicholas out of the blue. Them not being in the pack for it, kept them out of it if shit hit the fan. All of them safe and off pack territory… if war

came from that very thing.

“What mate bond?” Letti muttered. “It’s practically non–existent at this point. You know, half the pack are just waiting for you to reject Anthony, right?”

She sighed. “I’d not heard anything like that, no,” she admitted, “but I won’t be rejecting him, that will see me as just being petty and unable to accept Christy back into our lives.”

“You shouldn’t bloody have to,” Carol muttered. “We don’t want her in our lives at all.”

“Thank you for your support, but I don’t want to be seen as the jealous one, and I dare say that’s how he’ll spin it. Christy certainly will. I can only imagine she’ll turn on the waterworks and fake beg and plead with me not to reject him all the while being freaking ecstatic I voiced it.” and she could actually picture that in her mind.

“Because she’s a cry baby and nothing more,” Rebecca murmured. “It’s all she’s good for tears and sex, got no other discernible skills.”

“The pack, however, will know better. They’ve seen her blubbering before, and then the tears just stop pretty much a minute after she gets what she wants.” Letti commented, “They think it’s disgusting, but don’t dare to interfere or say anything due to that she is Anthony’s second

“So, if you’re not going to reject him, then you’re aiming to have him reject you…” Carol asked. “Do you really think you can get him to? That will see him toss his Luna of 22 years aside for one that isn’t even trained up to be one, is negligent in her duties and has traitorous

tendencies to boot.”

“I don’t know to be honest…” Mischa admitted. “But that is the goal, so yes, he’ll be seen as the one that only wants Christy, a she–wolf the pack knows tried to have him kill me for her own gain. That his desire is to only have her at his side, proving what I said to the elders in that investigation about they were both trying to get rid of me without the pack being aware

of it.”

“Hmm, I don’t see him doing that.” Carol muttered. “He’ll be instantly unworthy in not only the elder’s eyes, and the pack he rules over, but also in many of the allied Alpha’s eyes as well.”

“He’d likely lose many allied packs over something like that, because they are all going to ask why he rejected you. He can’t lie to them. It’s also likely the pack elders will out him to the allies, because they don’t think he’s worthy either,” Letti stated.

“Yes, and the Rising Blue Lotus will be the first to go, and Nicholas ain’t one to be messed with. He’s also known to notify those of his other allies of the severing of a pack alliance to himself and request no mating ball invites be sent to him when those he’s severed ties with are also attending. That’s why he sends word out.” Mischa nodded.

“Goddess, the fallout of that alone will have massive consequences for the pack,” Rebecca muttered. “We could just have other packs severing ties with us to keep their tie to Alpha

Nicholas intact.”

“Yes, Nicholas gave Anthony until Monday 5pm to make his choice. Then, if nothing comes from this pack, he’ll just sever it on his own end and notify those he thinks needs it.” Mischa sighed. “Anthony did not think about the consequences of his actions.”

“So even if the pack alliance stays intact, Anthony manages to wrangle that, if you get him to reject you, we’ll still lose a Luna, the pack accountant, our legal team, who we all know is Alpha Nicholas because you brought him to this pack. The moment Anthony rejects you, Nicholas is going to cut this pack loose because he hates Christy now, and if Anthony only wants Christy. We can say goodbye to our strongest ally, and he’ll still notify the other allies.”

“Yes,” Mischa nodded. This pack was going to fall apart or dwindle and likely go right back to how it was when his parents ran the place, have to be abandoned at some point if they suddenly lose half their allies.

“Anthony either hasn’t considered the true ramifications or is ignoring them in the hope I’ll

sway Nicholas to not incite the other allies. Because I helped rebuild this pack from scratch, so I won’t want to see it fall into ruination. He’s partly right too…” she sighed. She didn’t want to see all her hard effort go to waste, but she also didn’t want him to have his cake and eat it

too.

“That though will only last as long as I want it too, he thinks he’s got me all bound up, tied to him by the will of the Goddess, but do we not have the freedom to make our own choices? That’s I believe free will. I think he forgets I can simply choose to no longer strictly abide by the will of the Goddess, as he expects me to do so.”

“When will you go, Mischa? And are you going quietly or blowing the roof off the packhouse?” Rebecca asked.

“Who knows when it will happen? Not this year I made a promise to the elders and I will keep my word, probably not next year either, or not early next year. That will all depend on how things turn out… I’ll keep you informed.”

“Tell us the plan, we’re here for you, Mischa,” Letti stated firmly. “We are not Christy’s Luna Unit, she can go and find her own elsewhere.”

“Yes, consider us your allies, just like Paul is. I’m not bound to Christy, the moment she rejected Paul as her Gamma, that effectively cut me from her Luna’s unit.” Carol smiled at her

now.

She turned and looked at Carol. She’d not thought about that very thing, but yes, that was actually how it would work. “Hmm, I’d not looked at it like that, but if you’re all certain.”

“We are.” All three of them stated in unison.

“Alright girls, here it is. I have a feeling I can get Christy to have multiple heats in not only this year but the next one, and there will be more of them each year to come.” She smiled.

“What? How?” Rebecca asked.

She sat and told them what she believed Christy had done to herself, and the reason why as well, and they all went quiet as they tried to absorb and comprehend just what had actually happened over the course of her heat and how that accusation and investigation had really come about.

“Traitorous bitch,” Letti muttered. “I’m in, let’s pay that bitch back 10–fold.”
