She’d been out half the night with the girls, they’d not only had dinner, but gone out and had cocktails at a bar, and then seen a movie as well. Something the girls had all photographed all afternoon and night and posted pictures all over the packs group page.

Anthony had not once texted or called her about being out, but Letti, Carol and Rebecca had all been in contact with their Mates, texts and calls, lots of laughing had gone on between them, and their own Mates were happy that they were out having a nice time.

Anthony was more annoyed with her than he had been on Saturday and Sunday; come Monday morning, he’d grabbed a hold of her as she’d headed for breakfast in the packs dining hall and pulled her into her office and snapped the door shut.

She turned and looked at his angry expression as she removed his hand from her arm. “It’s my day off, why are you hauling me into my own office as if I’ve done something wrong?” she asked him as she sat herself down calmly in one of the tub chairs in the sitting area of her

office.

“You need to stop talking to Alpha Nicholas. I don’t appreciate his words at all, about what he thinks of the state of our Mate Bond. They are uncalled–for, and he needs to keep his opinions to himself.” Anthony bit out.

“Hit a nerve, did it?” she asked simply, knowing it had, otherwise why would he be angry at all, when Nicholas was in fact right, and for the past two years comments like that rolled off Anthony like water off a duck’s back.

She turned her eyes away from him, uncaring of his anger, and got her phone out to access the e–mail from Dr. Dana Reed, “Let me give you some reading material on the subject at hand.” She stated and forwarded that research article to him, “You might want to read this carefully. Because you made me one of the statistics yourself and so you have no one to blame, oh… I’m sorry, you have yourself and Christy to blame for it.”

She saw him glare at her even as his phone chimed.

She ignored that too. “Oh, and Anthony being angry with me because of what Nicholas sees or hears with his own eyes or ears, and judges for himself! Is not going to help your cause where I am concerned,” she stated, “I suggest you get off your high horse and do what any loving Mate would have done in the first place.

“Researched out the facts around what you did to me and the ramifications that very thing has for the abandoned Mate. Enjoy the read.” She stated simply, “As for the will of the Goddess.” She stood up. “That will only get you so far, this attitude of yours, I don’t much like

“I was indifferent before, and I offered you a chance at redemption, but did you take it seriously? Do you even now? … No.” She shook her head and walked passed him. “Oh, and by the way…” she half smiled to herself. “Thanks for remembering yesterday was our day and

coming to see me, calling me or mind–linking to me to explain why you weren’t around for it.

“Why you, spent it with Christy… Gone back to your old ways of only Christy matters I see.” she stated and walked out of her office. She was about to close her door but paused and pushed it open to look back at him. “Oh, by the way, Alpha Nicholas and I have already talked about your phone call to him.

“He got back to me yesterday morning with the full details of your conversation and his own reaction to it. I guess you’ve got until 5pm today to call him or drive down to his pack and apologize to him.

“Because you put this pack on official notice and you yourself know how he handles severing his pack from others. The e–mail he sends out to all his allied, regardless of if we are also allied or an enemy to them or not.

“And all because what? You don’t like that I have someone to talk to and not even, not about

what I feel, because as far as Nicholas is concerned, I’ve got no intention of leaving this pack. I told him in fact I wasn’t rejecting you. That is all just his own opinion from what he sees or hears inside his own pack, from our pack, and former pack members who talk to their families here in this pack so know what is going on.” She shook her head.

“I hope I get gifted a second mate by Selena herself. Have it be the will of the Goddess, I will accept them in a heartbeat, claim them a second later, and you’ll have no say or be of no concern to me in my making the decision because, well, it’s the will of the Goddess.

“Then you’ll really see what it’s like to be in my shoes, won’t you. Because that heat when it comes.” She smiled at him. “Will be all him attending to it, and not you, not for a single second of it.” She snapped the door shut to his very shocked expression.

She laughed softly and turned to walk off to get breakfast to find Christy right there. “He’s all yours Christy,” Mischa smiled at her, “I wish you luck in your endeavor to have him reject me

now.”

She saw Christy glare at her and step towards the Luna’s office, and she put a hand up to stop her “Uh, uh, you’re not a reigning Luna to this pack, and I believe you’re not allowed in my office until you pass your Luna Lessons and are recognized as a reigning Luna once more.

“If you go into my office I’ll sick the pack elders on you,” Mischa stated. It was a little on the nasty side, but she didn’t care at all, didn’t like this she–wolf, so didn’t care how she spoke to

her and didn’t have to watch herself until she’d finished those lessons and been reinstated.

That was at least a year away she was guessing.

“Oh, and just one little bit of information for you, Anthony personally had the pack doctor revoke all my rights to birth control. Dragged me himself, to the pack hospital, to Brent and made us both state to him that I wouldn’t be on birth control anymore and that Brent wouldn’t

supply it to me again.

“So, it’s anyone’s guess who’ll get knocked up first now, isn’t it? My heat, Christy, is due in about 7 weeks, give or take a day. Yours has been and no pup from it, then I’m due to go into heat again in November. Two heats before yours comes about again.

She saw anger touch Christy’s face before she turned and stalked away from Mischa. Preempting that she–wolf and planting the seed of her getting pregnant; not just one chance, but two, was going to drive Christy to try and stop Anthony from mating her through her heat and only one thing could do that; Christy being in heat herself.

She went and had breakfast and then took herself to the pack library to sit and read a book. It was her day off, and she could spend it however she liked. She was still there when she felt a presence looking at her and looked up to find Anthony sitting across from her.

He didn’t look so angry anymore, kind of looked sad to her, and she simply closed the book she was reading and stated, “What do you want now? Did I insult your other Mate?” she asked, knowing full well she had.

“I’m sorry, Mischa,” he stated softly. “I had no idea that…” he closed his eyes. “Was how you, suffering through a heat alone, would affect you… I just thought you were angry with me.”

“Stupid of you to make that assumption, don’t you think, considering how many times I have told you I don’t care, I’m indifferent to you.” She shrugged, showing him even now with him sitting here apologizing that she was indifferent to how he felt.

“I know,” he nodded. “I want to work on bringing us back together. I thought you were just being stubborn, and it frustrated me. I never realized the seriousness of the situation.”

She clapped her hands slowly three times, “Congratulations on realizing it’s actually all your fault,” and saw him flinch at both her actions and words. “But I guess now you can go and spend every minute of every day and night with Christy and have absolutely no concerns

about me.

“If you read that article all the way through without skimming, then I’m certain you understand which statistic group I’m in right, because I have already told you what I think will happen.”

“Get over it,” she stated flatly. “Nicholas loves Lucinda, and I would never do that…” she paused and saw relief cross his face. “To Lucinda.” She finished her sentence.

His eyes widened as he realized she didn’t mean she wouldn’t do that to him, “Just so you know, for future reference to your claims that it will never happen again… I will not suffer a heat alone ever again.” Mischa pulled her hands from his and leaned back in her seat.

“I’ll link myself to May, Simone and Debbie, tell them where you are, that I’m suffering alone, and one of them will send me an un–mated fully ranked member to sate my heat. If I have to suffer, then you and Christy have to suffer as well from now on.

“You won’t be informed beforehand; you’ll just get hit with the pains of betrayal. It is up to, according to that article, the Alpha or Luna of the pack to make that decision, on behalf of the she–wolf suffering once more an unattended heat… I’m the Luna and I have made the decision on my own behalf; do you think the Elders will deny me that?

“You, as the Alpha, if you attempt to stop that from happening, will be hauled in by the Elders and no leniency will be granted to you, because you are effectively telling the Elders they are to let me suffer it alone.” She stated boldly.

He’d clearly read that article in full; finally understood exactly what one such as herself could and would do “And you won’t have a leg to stand on, it will be the Elders that organize everything and explain it to the male pack member.

“Make sure that he, whoever he is, understands there will be no punishment from you to him, or the pack seeing me or him as disloyal. Because it’s only happening due to your lack of care in wanting to tend to my heat. Are with Christy.” She told him how it was going to go.

His eyes were wide now as he came into the full reality of what not only her stance was going to be, but the fallout for himself, which would be that of being unseated by the Elders, was what was between the lines of her words.
