“Is it a real bond or are you suffering the pains of betrayal and just handling it well?” Dana asked. “Some handle that better than others. That kind of depends on how the actual bond is, and if they’ve given up caring about it. Stopping caring doesn’t stop the pains, but it does stop the other side effects.

“Where one starts to wither away and isolate themselves before dying. That doesn’t really happen to those she–wolves that stop caring, they are just looking to bide their time until they have a proper way out for themselves is all.

“It’s a true bond. I was right there in the room when he scented Christy out, but she’s… narcissistic, and only cares for herself, and she believes she is entitled to everything, including the things that were once mine or are even now mine.” Mischa told Dana how she

saw it

“In that file,” Mischa touched it, “You’ll read and see some of the actual fallout, because I’ve also included some footage of things I think you’ll want to see. You don’t have to watch them if you don’t think it’s necessary.

“I didn’t nor did Brent or Gillian accuse Christy of doing this to herself. I actively avoided doing so. Gillian, you can see, is the one that ran the blood. She stated that because Anthony brought Christy into my room where I was in heat, her smelling my heat triggered Christy to go into heat.”

Dana leaned back in her chair now and stared at her. “Do you know how rare a thing like that happening is?”

“Hmm, it was brought up by Gillian, along with the injecting of one’s own pheromones as possible reasons how it came about, but really what idiot would do that to themselves.” Mischa shook her head “But Christy ain’t so bright, she also loves playing the victim card at every given opportunity, and Anthony himself accused me of accusing Christy of doing this to herself during the investigation.” She smiled at the memory “My exact words were ‘What idiot would do that to themselves, I also stated I didn’t think Christy did that.”

“Why when it is clear she did? That could have seen her be the one to be punished.”

“Oh, she was punished, as was he, because there was no actual proof I did anything to her. I was with Anthony when she went into heat, and there was nothing in that blood work that suggested anyone did anything to her. With the exception of herself, of course.

“But I didn’t accuse her directly for a single reason. I want to see if she will do it again. I believe she will do it and every time I go into heat, to try and get pregnant before me or stop

me from getting pregnant, at the least.”

“Well, Mischa, I think you’ve got a stupid one,” Dana tapped that paperwork, “If she has already suffered through a self–induced heat once, knowing how painful it is to be over mated. And is willing to do it again to herself. Which I’m guessing is why you’re here. You didn’t leave to prove your theory without having to accuse her directly correct?”

Claim

“Hmm, digging her own hole, so to speak. She also has rejected the Gamma’s help to go to the hospital, and at all times now as well since the moment. Claims he only cares about me.”

“Ah, because she couldn’t control her own thoughts about what she did and what happened from it when she was in pain, she was likely cursing herself for doing it, and he would pick it up in the direct aftermath… Did she not realize that one also can’t get pregnant from self inducing a heat, or it’s very unlikely due to the over mating, even if she did, at some point during those nine days, it would have been destroyed by the over mating after conception.”

“Hmm, that was my thought. I also know that conception from a natural loving heat, the heat stops if one gets pregnant within 24 hours.”

“That it does,” Dana leaned forward on her desk. “If we could get yours down to just one day, she’s going to think you’re pregnant as is your Alpha Mate in all likelihood. There is a danger here. I see of this she–wolf coming after you thinking you’re pregnant with the first heir to the pack.”

“I’m well aware of that, Dana, it’s why I’m still on birth control. I will not risk a pup to Christy’s desperate need to be the one to birth the first heir to the pack. I’m here mostly hoping that you have better drugs than what Brent has. This has never happened inside our pack before and so specialty drugs have never been needed.”

“There are drugs developed from that research team for this very thing. Though we don’t go giving them out willy–nilly, due to what they can be used for in a normal unaffected she–wolf, it makes them so drowsy they become easily kidnappable.

“I’ll sort that out for you. I can see why you need it. I will read everything in your file, regardless of what is there, to get the full picture of what happened and what you think is going to happen again,” Dana nodded. “From all that, I’ll likely be able to determine if Christy will do this to herself again.

“I’ll draw your blood here and now, and start sorting out a better birth control for you as well. With a she–wolf like that,” she sighed heavily. “Best you stay on it.”

“That was also a hope of mine. Draw as much as you need, take a full pint if you like.” Mischa nodded and Dana set about taking her blood. After it was drawn, Mischa asked, “Is there any news on stopping a heat.”

“It’s wishy–washy at best, but I do know a pack that’s got a tech prodigy; we occasionally communicate about things she needs help with thinking through. Made that connection through her, Alpha’s sister, Dariah, who trained here under me, and who’s now her pack’s doctor. If you’re happy for me to contact her with what you want, I will do that this evening. Something like this,” Dana chuckled softly, “will likely excite her; she’s a problem solver.”

“I’m good with that. Give her everything you think is necessary, and I’d be happy to go and speak with her as well. If she thinks that would be helpful, give her blood too.”

“Good, I’m certain that will help.” Dana nodded.

“Oh, I thought you might want to start a new research project yourself, and I’ve included all my details in that file as well. Diary entries on how I feel about my Mate since the incident happened up until now,” Mischa stated.

“Ah, why it’s so thick and that research team is interested in doing another with a view to stopping a heat from happening. When I get the official notification I’ll send them all of this and give you the studies details, and you’ll be able to sign up directly with them.”

“Alright.” Mischa nodded.

“Just out of curiosity, which statistical group did you fit into?” Dana asked.

“The one that won’t let their Mate touch them and believes their Mate will choose to abandon

them again. My Gamma suspects that as well. I gave Anthony the article on that for him to read. He will be the Mate that won’t want to see Christy suffer and become closed off and uncaring like I am. He showed it to Christy, and she actually laughed at reading it before realizing she shouldn’t react to it like that in front of him.”

“What? Why would she laugh? It’s not something funny at all.” Dana huffed.

“No and no, Luna, worth her salt, would laugh about it, but that one thing showed me that she’ll use that very knowledge to her benefit, will see her once again want to self–induce her heat when I go into my natural heat, and tell him not to leave her, or she’ll become like me,

closed of and unwilling to even let him sleep in the same bed as himself.”

Dana sighed heavily now, “Right, which in turn will see you suffer through your heat alone, because you’ve already survived it once, and are affected by it, so what other harm could it

possibly cause to you other than what is now your current situation.”

Mischa nodded, “He gives Christy everything over myself, like I said she’s eclipsed me, overlaid her scent on top of mine. So only sensing out my actual heat will likely see him pay me any attention, and I don’t want that anymore.”

“I’m guessing he only listens to her and what she says then.” Dana murmured thoughtfully.

“Hmm, she’s was a whiney cry–baby playing at, she can never measure up to me for the most part, feels inferior to me and used running away to keep him constantly trying to placate her. That kind of petered out since her punishment of accusing me of harming her, which I didn’t.

“Changed her tactics. I’ve not seen her run away, and she actually is being made to attend Luna Lessons. If she doesn’t, he stated he’d reject her on the basis that she doesn’t actually want the job of Luna only wants the title and money. There have been a few times when he’s shoved her at me and made her apologize. Threatened to reject her even.”

“Ah, that to me shows your scent is there for him at times, she’s not completely eclipsed you yet, and his beast, and he either actually saw what she was doing, or maybe could see that Christy did something, that went against his other Mate. That, whatever it was, could lose you for him. So there are moments of clarity for him, or places within the pack or moments in your lives that she can’t eclipse because she either doesn’t know about them, or he has strong memory ties to.”

“Who knows.” Mischa shrugged.

“I feel with you being this disconnected from him, her overriding your scent is much easier for her to do now than it likely was before.”

“I was disconnected to him before that happened, and that heat I had in November. I kind of just went through the motions of it, my mind wasn’t on it, I was off thinking about other

things, and we fought during bouts.” Mischa laid it all out.

“But you stayed, haven’t rejected him?” Dana frowned deeply.

“I have not. We’re a pack that believes in the will of the Goddess.” Mischa murmured, though even now, she had a feeling their Goddess was on her side. Maybe it was Mischa’s path to live this so she could find a way to help others just like herself, and then she could move on and away with the Goddess‘ blessing. That was why she’d appeared to her. Maybe she needs a way to stop her own heat.

“Did that come about before or after you and your Mate took over?” Dana asked curiously.

“It was something we were raised to believe, and continue to promote, though we don’t enforce it on the pack members. Though…” she trailed off.

“He’s keeping you bound by it now.” Dana nodded slowly. “There is such a thing as free will, you know.”
